Software To Automatically Copy All Data From Usb Stick
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Software
@ yordan... I understood the solution you provided (in theory) but I don't have the technical skills to create batch files or other scripts as you have mentioned. So maybe you can explain the complete procedure in a step by step fashion for noobs like me.. Or maybe you can create a tutorial for this... That would be helpful for many.... I guess... -
@mathewbruce you might be perfectly right but if one keeps the monopoly of giant corporations in mind, it is very hard to assume that google won't be giving any extra weight to its own social media service in its search results. Combine this with the fact that google doesn't have access to facebook data (according to a report I read quite some time ago.... so I am not sure it my info is up to date), and twitter is more related to "What is happening at the moment" stuff, it becomes easy to see the biased importance of Google + for SEO.this is just my own theory and I am neither an SEO expert nor a professional analyst so I might be completely wrong....

Wordpress Vs Your Own Cms
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Let me put my question in this way....I assume that there is lot of extra stuff in wordpress that a normal simple website like mine (see the signature for the link to my website) is not going to use. So is this extra stuff going to prove as a burden on the speed of my website ??? -
Testing The Mac Os In A Virtual Machine
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I followed your links and the mac os they have listed is not what I meant. I am looking to feel the taste of a real mac os (for instace Mac Os X Lion) without having to spend the money on buying an apple computer. I am assuming that there might be some way of trying the os on vmware. Is it possible ?? If yes, How ?? -
Ok so I have done some more research into the subject and I have made the final decision that I am going to take python to a side (for the time being) and instead I would go for C as the first step towards C++. (Thanks @yordan for planting this idea into my mind....=== INCEPTION Lol ). Actually I made the decision yesterday. I also did some research on where to start learning C. (Though @yordan didn't help me on this ..... ) I did find some useful resources through google. And after my research I have decided to go for the book called "C programming - A modern approach - 2nd edition". Actually most people mentioned K&R C programming language 2nd edition as the best book for learning C (as it is written by the creators of the language) but many people have also mentioned that it is not very good for beginners. So I looked for something that is beginner friendly and I decided to go for "C Programming a modern approach".. That was all yesterday... Today I was fortunate enough to grab a copy of the book and actually I was so eager that I read the first chapter of it as well. It was nice and easy to understand and I am assuming that my decision to go for the book was right. I ran into some problems setting up the environment and getting my first program to run but I will discuss them in a separate thread. I hope that moderators will allow me to post a link to that thread here so that beginners like me can get some help.... I am in the process of becoming a doctor (I am not one yet). It is a 5 years program and I have completed 3 years... so 2 still to go. Unfortunately for me, medical schools in my country (and possible most other countries) don't have classes for other subjects. They are strictly MEDICAL schools. They don't teach anything else. So if someone (like me) wants to do something extra, he is on his own. I have taught myself web development, php, css, html etc in the past and I am sure I can teach myself C as well. I just want to make sure that I follow the right path so that my already limited time is not wasted on something useless. So I will have to search a good book myself and learn from it myself. I can do the learning quite quickly but I need to make sure that the book I am using is worth the time spent on it. SO that is why I seek advice from experts and I hope you (@yordan) would have some experience with the learning process of C. So can you mention a good book that fits my needs so that I can start learning C right away. Well I don't think I can do something similar to your cousin @manuleka. I do have a huge passion for computers and programming stuff but I also have huge respect for my medical profession. It is extremely extremely difficult to get admission in a Govt. medical school in my country where all the expenses are provided by the Govt. (and you have to acknowledge that medical education is expensive). So I won't leave this profession but I would also like to be a good programmer because I feel that in this way I can create stuff that could help the whole medical community. And that is my main goal.

I am absolutely not in a company that uses python. I am a self taught web developer and just want to get into mainstream programming... or at least know how things work on software development side. I have reasonable knowledge of PHP and mySQL. I learnt them about a year back and unfortunately for me, I haven't had the time to develop my skill on these languages because of my medical studies. But I have the basics clear and I can start working with them with a little revision of basic things. That being said, if I take your advice and throw away the idea of investing my time into python and go for C... where should I start then? What is a good resource for me to start getting my hands dirty with C... keeping in mind my time investment limitations.

I have used vmware in the past to test ubuntu before installing it. One thing that I hated was it was slow. But that was on my previous computer which had slower hardware. Now with reasonable good hardware, I think I can give vmware another try. In my mind, I am making plans of setting up an environment where linux (on vmware) runs on my secondary monitor and windows on my primary display. If I can get this to work, it would significantly increase the amount of time I spend on linux and I might tame the linux beast in much less time.. Can you elaborate the above statement a little more. I wasn't able to completely understand it. And I am assuming that it is a useful thing to have. By the way, I also have a separate partition on my hard drive for working on linux. Separate partition allows me to make test installs of different linux distros and check how they perform utilitzing the full hardware resources of my laptop.

Where to start ?? : this is the kind of question that is asked by every newbie who wants to get into some field. And it is also the kind of question that is answered by pros again and again. But the problem I am facing right now has raised simply because the question is answered in too many ways. And for a newbie, this is confusing. By trying to find the right way to start through google, I got into more confusion. Before I write about why I am confused, I would like to write a little about why I want to learn python. Basically what I want is to be able to understand how computer softwares work and how they are made. I might want to create one or two of my own but my field (my real field of work, which is medical sciences) doesn't allow me to spend too much time on creating computer programs. So no matter how I like it, I might never get a chance to create complex computer programs. But I really want to be able to understand how softwares are made and I have some plans of making one or two softwares related to medical field.I knew from the beginning the C / C++ is a powerful language and that most computer programs are written in this. I also knew about Java but for some obscure reason I have more love for C++ (I simple don't know why). So I did some research online trying to find out where to start learning C++. To my surprise, I came to know that C++ is too complex to be learned as a first language and most people recommend that some simpler language be learned prior to going deep into the dark dungeon of C++.Many people have mentioned Python as a good starting language. Before this research I didn't even knew python existed so I did some quick research on python. My research taught me that not only python is much simpler, it is also very powerful and vast. Plus it is also related to web applications (which, by the way, is my second field of work...) So now I definitely want to learn python. One reason is that maybe it would be sufficient for my and I might not even need to learn c++, (though I would love to be a master of C++)Now why I am confused ??... I am confused because some people are telling me that python is a waste of time while others tell me that it is good to learn but it is not related to C++ and you would need to take a fresh start with C++. Secondly, different people have mentioned different resources to learn python from. Some have stated that online tutorials are the best. Some have named a few books and mentioned that beginners should start from these....What I need is to know... First of all that is learning python worth it..... and secondly where should I start from ??? Any good book, tutorial, website etc... But I need to learn it quickly so it would be nice if the resource keeps this in mind.....

I have made several attempts at saying good bye to windows and switching completely to linux. The primary motive has always been to learn how it works and to master it. Every second person online would tell you that linux is extremely powerful and and you can do an awful lot of stuff with it. So it kind of attracts me towards the linux ecosystem. Many of my previous attempts have failed because of issues that I later solved such as getting the pc to pc network to work or setting up dual monitor setup. However, one thing that my experience taught me is that the biggest hurdle (in the longer run) for me to completely shift to linux is GAMING. Every other issue is solvable but as of now, gaming stays the single most important issue that is keeping me stick to windows 7.The possible workarounds for me include having two different computers..... one for gaming (with windows on it) and the other for learning and experimenting with linux... But I personally don't think it is a good idea. There are a numebr of reasons. First is that I am a one machine type of guy. It kind of gives me headache to operate many machines simultaneously. I like to have a single machine do all the stuff for me. And as a matter of fact, I do mix things up quite badly. So unless I want this setup real bad, I am not going to go for it.Second option is to dual boot windows and linux (which, by the way, is what I am doing now). The problem with this setup is that once you switch to one Operating system, it kind of becomes very difficult to take a decision to switch off the computer and run the other OS. Gaming is fun it does have enough motivation in it to make me turn off the computer and start the windows OS but on the oher hand once I am on windows, I would start browsing and writing stuff and exploring and hearing music, then it becomes very difficult to switch off the computer and start the other OS.The actual tast of rebooting into the other OS is not difficult at all but because of my lazy nature, I can't take the decision to do so and thus I remain struck with my windows OS most of the time. This results in very little amount of time spent on the linux OS and thus the learning process is very very slow.Third solution, which is near to impossible for me at the time, is to get my games to work on linux. The game I mostly play is FIFA 12 and I don't think there is anyway to run it on linux with resources that I have in my laptop. So unless I get fed up with gaming or give up on learning linux or someone magically appears with a trick to play resource intensive games on linux, I am going to be stuck within this dilemma....

After taking my medical exam (which kept me extremely busy for about 4 months), its time I get back in front of my computer and start woriking. As I have mentioned in many previous posts on this forum, I use a dual monitor setup, which significantly enhances my productivity and performance. My current setup is a primary display (of my laptop) that is 15.6 inches and has a resolution of 1366x768 plus a secondary display which is a samsung syncmaster 151N. It is about 14 inches and has a resolution of 1074x768. I have been using this setup for quite a long time and though it is working fine for me but at times I feel that some extra space would definitely help. For instance while doing my programming exercises, I like to have a number of windows open such as an editor for writing programming code, a result windows where I can quickly see the effects of changes I have made. A book (in digital format) from where I learn the programming and a web browser to search the web (Absolutely necessary). On my current setup I can easily get upto three windows but getting the fourth window open becomes tricky. The primary display with the resolution of 1366x768 can easily hold two windows side by side with good viewing space in both of them but the secondary one with the resolution of 1074x768 can't do the same. It can only hold one window at a time (if the viewing space has to be reasonable) and that is why I cannot get 4 windows open simultaneously.I had thought about getting an extra monitor (so that I would have a total of three displays) but I think that would be too much hardware for my table. So the best option for me is to change my second monitor with something that can easily provide me extra space for that fourth windows.I have decided to go for a 1080p (1920x1080) resolution. I would not only give me more than enough extra space, but would also boost my gaming experience on some games that can be played at that resolution. So the obvious target for me would be a monitor with good price to performance ratio. Plus, I would also like the monitor to have hdmi capabilities. This would extend the usage possibilities for me....... can anyone here recommend me a good 1080p monitor

Iphone 5 Still Looks To Be Another Hit For Apple
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
But probably he would be among the first to go for the 5s.I was just reading this article about a new glitch that has been shown on the latest iphone. It is one the phone arena website. They have mentioned that some developers have found this issue with rapid diagonal swiping that occasionally causes the screen to become unable to detect any touch input.Combine this with other issues like purple tinted pictures, and static lines on the keyboard on some devices, we get a lot of people literally praying that these issues be fixed by a software update. If not (which by the way is not very likely), then iPeople might have to think about spending a little more money on the next upgrade. -
Iphone 5 Still Looks To Be Another Hit For Apple

I think this new extra row of screen is more than enough for many iphone users. Especially those who don't care how usable there phone is but are more concerned about what others say about their phone. They just get to say... look my iphone doesn't have that small screen anymore, which you always criticized. -

On my part, this statement looks more of a guess (as @manuleka himself mentioned) than a reality because I haven't read any reliable document on this yet. I hope this is true that the new intelligent operating systems like newer versions of android does exactly the same as @manuleka mentioned. This would be a great extra comfort for me to leave my phone plugged in and sleep. I don't have to worry about how much it is charged or how long it has been charging. I would just rise up in the morning, take my fully charged phone and go to work. It would be much simple for me than keeping my mobile phone plugged in while I am working... so I can't go away (somebody might steal my phone), and have I feel bound to the table, which is bad. I am perfectly sure that android is smart enough to handle the charging issue, but whether it is optimized to do it in a practical environment is a question mark. The thing that makes me more cautions about the issue is that although the windows 7 (desktop version) is much more capable than android, people are still not sure about leaving their laptops plugged in all the time. Some will tell you that leaving it plugged in all the time won't have any significant effect on the life of battery while other will tell you to use your laptop like you would use a mobile phone -- i.e. unplug when it is fully charged. I think it is more related to companies not giving attention to this issue than the capability of software or hardware. And in my opinion, people having devices whose battery can't be changed easily e.g. the iphone should be more cautious. Especially those who make long term relations with their gadgets. Because if you have a phone like Sony Xperia Arc (e.g. myself ), when you feel that your phone battery has aged, you can simply buy a battery and replace with your old one. But if you have a phone like iphone 4s, you would have to go through a lot of trouble to get the battery replaced, and it would cost you more time and money. -

Wireless chargers are the new technology in town but I am afraid most of devices commonly used today still have those old wired chargers. And I said that though the smartphone itself has evolved, the charger hasn't kept up with it, because when you look at the charger and compare it with an old charger, you won't find any extra components in it that could make one feel that this thing has evolved. It is still that simple transformer to downgrade the voltage and convert the current to DC. -
I have tested many different operating systems without making a hardcore transfer to it. The most important tool for this purpose is vmware. I have used it to test different versions of linux and windows. Most of the times it works great and gives you an almost compete insight into an operating system.Linux is free so you can use it in whatever way you want. You can test it you can change it and you can make your own alterations. So to test a linux, all you have to do is to download an image for the respective website and then use it to create a virtual machine. Instead, if you want a full fledged experience, you can make a dual boot environment on your computer and test it. In this way it would use the complete hardware resources of your computer and give you a complete demo of how the linux distribution would work on your computer. The other advantage of making a dual boot environment is that your older OS would remain on the disk and you won't loose any data.To test windows, you can download the trial version easily available online. You can use this trial version to make a virtual machine and test the OS before buying it. The good thing about the trial versions that Microsoft gives you is that it is not limited in performance but limited in time. So you get to know the overall performance capabilities of the OS. You can also create a dual boot environment in this situation. In contrast to the above two Operating Systems, the MAC Os (according to my knowledge) is not there to be tested on a machine made for windows and linux. To use a MAC os you need to buy the expensive apple hardware. In fact, when you pay for a Apple computer, you are not paying for the hardware alone. You are also paying for the software side of things. And this is one of the reasons why apple products are so expensive. So my question is -- Is there a way to test the apple software (MAC OS) while staying with my windows machine. Or another way to describe my question would be -- Is there a way to test MAC os without first investing in a Apple computer.

I don't know about the overall history of success of upgrades but I can tell one thing that happened this time. iphone 4s users might have wanted a processor upgrade or more memory in the iphone 5 but the thing they wanted most was a larger screen. Android ecosystem has produced so many different types of devices but the more successful one have one thing common - great viewing experience. Much of this goes to a larger screen. You see the success of devices like Samsung Galaxy S or Galaxy S II or Galaxy Nexus or the all time favorite Galaxy S III.... All of the devices have one thing in common- A larger screen with good resolution and presentation. Though you would always here iPhone customers saying that iPhone has a smaller screen because it is designed for one handed use. They would argue with you about it would appear to hate the larger screens. But you could always tell that they have wanted a bigger screen on their devices. And in my opinion, more than anything else, they would want to buy iphone 5 because it has a larger screen. -
Nowadays there are so many gadgets lying around that sometimes it becomes quite difficult to manage all of them and there arises a need to make things more compact. This type of situation can arise when one is working on his computer and he also has to reply to text messages through his cell phone number. To make things more clear, I would give my personal example. Most of the time when I am working on my computer I can manage to check my cell phone every now and then and respond to calls or text messages but sometimes when I am doing tasks like typing or organizing things, I like to stick to my laptop and keyboard and the cell phone becomes a distraction. To make things easier for me I searched for a solution to merge the two devices together so that I can respond to calls and messages (and do loads of other stuff related to my cell phone) without going away from my laptop. I searched quite a lot throughout the play store and finally I found a reasonable app to make things easier for me. It is called Air Droid. The biggest reason I love this app is it is so simple to use. You don't need to install any pc server or other related software. All you need to do is install the 3mb app from the android market and you are good to go. Of course there are some pre requisites like your pc and mobile should be on the same network and your pc should have a browser installed on it but these things are very easy to arrange without any issue. So once the app is installed, you have to launch it. It will give you an address and a password. You have to enter the address into your browser and when the page loads, you will need to use the password to connect your mobile and pc.The interface is very elegant and yet easy to use. You can do almost every thing directly from you pc. You can reply to text messages, write new text messages, dial and receive calls, store files, manage pictures, add contacts etc etc. In short you can keep your mobile phone quietly in the pocket and whenever somene calls or there is a text message, not only you will be promptly notified, you can also give a proper response like attending the call or replying to the text message directly from your pc.Its really cool....

Skinput Devices -Gnext Mobiles-Is The Research A Good Investment
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ananya's topic in Software
I agree completely with the logic presented by @yordan. I would further add that it is not necessary that every single research project (whether done on a small scale or a large scale) results in a finalized completely usable product. In fact, most of the research projects end in making thinks that are not usable at that time but almost all of them make some contribution to the making of a great technology. Consider the case of touchscreen smartphones. They didn't develop as a result of a single research project but instead there were numerous research projects most of which didn't result in very useful results. So this research project for the development of skinput devices might not result in producing a very useful product but it is most likely that it would further the technology to development of a new unique gadget. -
I use my usb stick alot to transfer data from one computer to another. Sometimes the transferring gets so extensive that I try to look for ways to save some effort on my part. One possible solution to save considerable amount of effort would be a software that would make the process of copying automatic. So the software should start copying files to a location (user specified) as soon as I enter the usb stick. For security puposes, there should be an option to specify a usb stick with certain volume label and the process of copying should be automated only for that particular usb stick. It would be a plus point, If there are additional options to automate the process for all usb sticks.I would also like to have certain extra features in the software. Like making specific sound when the process of copying starts and stops. With this feature present, I would also love some hidden mode feature that bring the distraction to minimal. So as soon as I put a usb stick into the computer where I have installed the software, a sound should be made to confirm that the process of copying has started. Then whether something is displayed to show the process of copying or not, is not an issue but the software should make another different sound when the process of copying is completed. An opne-source software would be preferred but I would definitely like to know about other solutions as well.

Leaving Mobile Phone Charger Plugged In For Entire Night
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Hardware Workshop
Let me throw light on the issue from a different perspective. While the phones have become smarter during time, the phone chargers haven't kept the pace. They are the same chargers as they used to be a few years ago. And as @yordan said, the battery is before the phone smartness. So to make a phone which would not be affected by keeping it plugged in all night long, the charger itself can be among the things that need to be changed. I don't know much about electronics and how the components of a normal mobile charger works, but I hope that we have such electronic components available that could cause cessation of further charging of battery after a certain voltage is built. One issue that directly comes into mind with the scenario where charger is the main controller is that this may cause states where the battery is charged for a couple of minutes and then the charging stops when that level is reached. But when after a few minutes the voltage just drops from the set level, the charging would start again and the cycle would repeat again and again. This might not be very healthy for the battery. The other target, which I can think under the umbrella of my very basic knowledge of things, is the phone software. Although the battery is before the phone smartness, but the current software are smart enough to control the battery in a retrospect manner (I think). So the scenario would be that when the battery attains a certain level of charge, the phone software would cause the breaking of the electronic circuit so that the electricity coming from the charger ceases to charge the battery. These are very simple scenarios which are not good for battery life because they may cause states of quick alternate charging and discharging. I think the actual challenge would be to attain a state where when the battery reaches certain level, and while the charger is still plugged in, the phone stops using charge from the battery and instead uses the wall charger as its main power source. This shift should happen in such a way that the phone doesn't restart or without any other issue.Maybe some experts can throw more light on the practicality of the scenarios I mentioned.Maybe better understanding of the charging procedure would help. -
I am not a big fan of ehow articles, and the article you mentioned in your post just tells why. Most of the time they are no more than teasers, or mere fillers, with no specific useful information. They just tell you what an average computer user already knows and so in my opinion they are just a waste of time. The purpose of my search for a spying software is that lately, I have been failing that someone is using my stuff (all of which is computer related) without my permission. So I am not only trying to stop him from doing so but I also want to know who he is. And as my laptop is almost always on and sitting at a place from where it can record most of the activity in my room. I think it can be handy for this operation. Well, the problem is that I am not much of a programmer. I do know some php but I don't know any flash or visual basic. So it would be very hard for me to first learn these languages and then write the program myself. The easier and quicker way would be to find a software written by someone else and use it directly. i might have to pay for it but I am ready.
