Well, that's too bad... It has happened to me as well, for instance, the xbox 360 controller emulator works flawlessly with fifa 13 but it has some severe issues with fifa 12...But what's different in my case is that I can't go for the expensive hardware so instead I look for workarounds. They are time consuming and quite frustrating at times but eventually most of the times I get the controller to work.....

Maybe I misunderstood something when I did my little research in the past... What about the decreasing capacity of the SSD drive with time... i.e a 125 GB SSD might not be able to hold 125 GB data after two years.. Is this true or just......... How much of the hard drive space is actually used by you... In my case, I have a 500 gigs hard drive with 4 partitions. Three ntfs and one ext4. I have about 350 gigs of data on my drive but most of it is seldom used by me. I won't be bothered much if this data would have been placed in an external drive. Only about 80 gigs of hard drive space is actively used in my case... what about you ???

Force Split Screen To Separate Monitors - Hd 7850
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
You should give a try to the horizontal split-screen mode with eyefinity (I am assuming that you have all the necessary hardware for the testing). And let us know how things went for you.. -
Everyone has his own likings and dislikings...For me, the best thing about those cheap controllers is that you can throw them around, give to friends, make modifications etc etc without ever getting concerned about losing significant money. If it stops workings, just get a new one... and you are good to go again...And yes there are some overhead configurations involved with these gamepads. They are especially worse when you don't know how the configurations is done (i.e. a newbie in the filed). Its so much painful....But once you get it working and you learn how those configurations are done, you would be more than happy with your time spent on learning all this....

Stij.exe - Anyone Has This Running On Their System?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Software
So you uninstalled IncrediBar and the sjit.exe was gone with it.....??? -
In the target page of the link mentioned in your previous post (post # 57), there is the following image which might indicate how 6 simultaneous displays work. It can be seen clearly in the diagram that there are 6 monitors connected to the Radeon HD 6870 card through two ports. But in contrast to a simple normal connection, there is this device called "MST HUB". This might be the splitter you have mentioned in your post.

Well there are problems with these cheap devices, but there are solutions as well. For instance, when I played fifa 13 with this cheap controller, the right stick and the start button didn't work by default. So I had to use the x360ce (Xbox 360 Controller Emulator) and configure my device with this brilliant piece of software. And then everything worked fine. And I have to say that I am more than satisfied with the performance of these devices (maybe because I never had the chance to use a device from big companies like microsoft). The accuracy of the analog sticks is good and there are no missed inputs. The end result is trouble-free gameplay without spending too much money.

Force Split Screen To Separate Monitors - Hd 7850
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
According to what I understood from the discussion of @manuleka, he is just trying to spread the split screen mode on two monitors in such a way that each player has a bigger and better viewing experience. So basically the final effect would be that both players will have their own screens but their controllers would still be connected to the same controller and they would still have to face the gameplay limitations of split-screen games. I remember playing "Kane and Lynch: Dead men" as a split screen game with my brother. Unlike most split screen games I have played, which only have the vertical split screen mode, this game also had the horizontal split screen mode. That is, the screen is divided horizontally into two compartments, one belonging to each player. Now consider a setup where two similar monitors with same resolution are connected to a computer in such a way that they behave as one single large monitor. Combine this with the horizontal split-screen mode mentioned above, and you would get a nice gaming environment where both players have their own monitors. Because of the same resolution of the monitors, the split-part of the screen has to fall between the two monitors (near the combining bezels) and thus each player can have their own complete view in a separate monitor. This is just a theory. I have never tried it so its just my imagination......... -
Nice article. Thanks for the share @yordan.There wasn't much talk about the lifespan of an SSD (or a hybrid for that matter). When got interested in buying an SSD quite a while ago, I remember that lifespan was discussed as one of the major issues. So can you point me to some good research done on the life span of an SSD
-
To be hones, I have never used a controller from a standard manufacturer like Microsoft or Logitech. They are a bit too expensive for me. For instance the xbox 360 wired controller is about USD 30-40. This translates to 3000-4000 rupees (PKR) in my local currency. On the other hand, one can easily find good controllers (non-standard china made) for about 300 PKR (about USD 3). And they perform OK. So no need to spend so much money on standard controller where you are paying more for the name of the manufacturer and less for the product.

Force Split Screen To Separate Monitors - Hd 7850
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Hardware Workshop
I am also quite interested in the topic. So @manuleka, I am looking forward for what you have to say about it. -
I have never used an SSD myself, but based on the talks and reviews online, I am pretty sure that these things do improve performance significantly. Based on my research, there are just 2 concerns about SSDs. 1. High Price and 2. Life SpanI would have changed my laptop's hard drive for an SSD but (as you have mentioned), the price is still quite high. And combine that with the fear of loosing the valuable storage space with passing time, one has to think seriously before making the move. But as has happened throughout the history of computer industry, the prices will drop and the quality will improve. So I have made the decision that at least for my current laptop, I won't go for an SSD. I may make the move when my laptop is dead (get a new laptop with an SSD) or the SSD technology takes some huge leap forward.I don't know much about the comparison of performance and life span between the hybrids and pure SSDs so maybe someone else can throw their insight on the subject.

C Development With Eclipse Ide -- Problem With Scanf
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Programming
Well, thanks to Xisto forums, I now know that java runtime environment doesn't exclusively mean oracle JRE. And I also know now that many linxu distros come pre-installed with openjdk java development, which can be used as an alternative to oracle JRE in most of the situations. The installation of Oracle java was quite a pain for me because of the number of failures involved. The first tutorial I followed had stated that because of some issues with oracle, the repositories for java JRE have been removed from linux distros and to get java installed, first these repositories need to be added manually. In the process, I learned how to add a repository but unfortunately, I wasn't able to install java this way. Then there were other tutorials with more or less a similar approach and all of them failed. Finally I found a tutorial where a pre-made script was posted. I didn't understand what that script did and how it did but when I ran it (plus a few other steps), I did get java installed. Here is the link: Techytalk. Maybe someone here can make me understand the process. So there was a lot of time wasted and a lot of frustration involved in the process. That is why I say it was quite a pain for me. -
Stij.exe - Anyone Has This Running On Their System?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Software
I googled the term "stij exe" and the first search result has some info on it. Link: System explorer So they have mentioned that the file may be related to incredimail (as @yordan have mentioned as well) but also to smailbox. More importantly, they have declared the file as SAFE -
Well I changed the program and used the WHILE statement instead of the FOR (and also made other necessary changes for proper execution of the while loop). But instead of just relying on paper execution, I ran the program within eclipse. The result was NOTHING. The console was completely empty and it didn't print out even a single value of x. I am assuming this is the way how eclipse handles infinite loops. @mastercomputers, thanks for the great step by step explanation. I now completely understand (or at least think so) the difference. But can you please throw some light on why the console was completely empty and didn't even show a single value of x. I was expecting the values before X == 5 to be printed normally and then something strange to happen. Is it the way how eclipse handles infinite loops?

C Development With Eclipse Ide -- Problem With Scanf

Thanks for providing your professional advice on the subject. I actually do understand that the burden of cross-platform compatibility lies on the shoulders of the coder. That is, the code should be written in such a way that the end result is a program that works in multiple environments. What I wanted to say in my previous post was not that eclipse SHOULD help coders write cross-platform compatible code. It may have useful tools in this regard but the final responsibility is on the coder's part. What I wanted to say was that eclipse being so commonly used development tool should ITSELF be cross-platform compatible. It is used in a variety of different operating systems and people who have developed this great tool should have given extra effort in making sure that it behaves predictably in different environments. It should not behave differently in windows and linux. For expert developers, this might not be very much of a problem but for learners and beginners it is quite a headache. Well, I didn't know that eclipse can work on open jdk. I am new to linux as well as eclipse so I have to look for help prior to doing most of the things. And as you might know, installation (of any kind) is not understood by many people who are otherwise quite literate of the windows environment (as it is very different). So I looked for help online and every helping material and tutorial I found online had mentioned it clearly that I need to get java installed before running eclipse. That is why I had to go through the pain of installing java on linux. If I had known, the process would have been much simpler.. -
So after a gap of many days, I opened the C programming book that I am using to learn C. I learned about while loops, for loops, the switch statetement, the do-while loop and the break and conitune statement. I understood almost everything that I read today. I said almost because I couldn't understand one thing. It is related to the difference in behaviour of FOR loops and WHILE loops when a continue statement is used withing these loops. The book I am reading has given an example where continue statement is used within a for loop. It is a simple loop which starts with the initial value of x = 1 and then runs until x is greater than 10, each time incrementing the value of x by 1. In the body, all it does is prints the value of x. It looks something like this: for (x=1; x<=10; x++) { printf("%d", x);}In this simple FOR loop, the author has put a continue statement withing an IF condition, which interprets as if x is equal to 5 then continue. So the overall loop becomes: for (x=1; x<=10; x++) { if (x==5) { continue; } printf("%d", x);}The output of this program (with continue statement) is: 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 9 10It is clear the when the contidion "X IS EQUAL TO 5" is true the printf statement is skipped. Upto this point everything is clear. But then the author mentions why WHILE loop is different and this is what I don't understand. The words of the author are quoted as: This is what I don't understand. Can somebody explain to me what is the author trying to say.

I also think that Eclipse being one of the most commonly used applications by developers should have taken special care wih the cross platform compatibility....But for now, I will carry on with my C learning and I hope I reach a stage where I am able to create cross-platform programs. -
C Development With Eclipse Ide -- Problem With Scanf

So to try the linux version of eclipse, I installed Linux Mint 14 cinnamon on my system (creating a dual boot setup with windows 7). And then then after updating the system I went on to install the Java (as a pre-requisite). I have to admit that for some reason I found it extremely extremely painful to install java. It wasn't as simple as running the command "sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre" and I had to spend some time with google to find a way to install it. Forutnately, I found this page. It did take some time but eventually java did install successfully. After that, installing eclipse was as easy as downloading and extracting. And to my pleasure, when I tested it with the same program as mentioned above in the topic, it worked like a charm. So I confirm here that the linux version of eclipse doesn't have the same issue with scanf input as the windows version. And now I have found one more reason to stick to linux instead of windows... And by the way, Linux mint 14 cinnamon is so brilliant.. I really really like it. -

So I googled the issue in hope of finding some help and it turns out that eclipse console has issues running in windows. The problem is posted on the eclipse community forum (here) but unfortunately there aren't any solutions to the issue that I can understand and follow... It has been mentioned there that the linux version of eclipse doesn't have such a problem so I guess I better try out the linux version...
