What are bots and what do they do on forums? Can anyone explain the theory behind this thing. Maybe I can find something useful in it. Thanks in advance.

This was a really nice summary of the overall seo thing. Besides the features of niche marketing with search engines described in the summary, one additional thing I want to describe is the importance of link building. It would have been really nice if Google could just decide which page is better than the other all by its own. The fact is that the activities of webmasters have a lot of influence on the SERP. The content of the page is just one factor in determining the ranking of page in SERP and in fact is a smaller factor. For this reason, sometimes, pages with lower quality are ahead of pages with higher quality content.I am not sawing that this is a bad way of arranging websites in SERP. Actually it is the best way developed but is not the complete one.The more important things in determining the SERP are now factors that don't exist on the page itself. The most important of these factors is Backlinks.

Facebook "gunning" For Google And Killing Seo?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to DisabledTech's topic in Search Engines
I have been hearing about facebook becoming a threat for google because of its advertisement efficiency. I am not very sure about the depth of the situation but I don't think facebook is going to be a major threat for Google's Advertisement programme (at least in the coming few years). Why I am so confident about it? The answer is the widespread roots of google into the internet. People are sort of getting used to google ads on websites and although Google itself is making huge profits, The advertisement programme of Google is a source of income for thousands of webmasters. So I don't think Google is going to be damaged by the progress of facebook in the shorter run, but yes, Google has to take some steps to continue its dominance over the internet in the longer run. -
Very interesting topic but I am really disappointed to find no post which could be really helpful. Learning to make my own search engine will be really helpful for me (and for many other webmaster like me who want to implement their own search engine into their website). There are such solutions available which discourage forming your own search engine. Services like Google custom search engine are really easy to obtain and highly customizable so people seldom go for the effort of designing their own search engine. However, I must say that If I could make my own search engine, why would I go for an ad supported engine given to me by a third party. My own search engine would really make my website look cleaner and I can use it in whatever way I want. Though the existing free services like google custom search engine are also very customizable but they still won't be able to compete with my own creation. So I would love to hear from someone about how to make my own search engine for my website.

A Simple Guide For Achieving Top Rankings
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to TavoxPeru's topic in Search Engines
Keywords, which is a part of "on page optimization" do play some role in deciding the niche of the website and the search terms for which the website should be displayed in results but they are not the main factor. I am stating this through my experience on the internet. Very often, I find good pages that are better optimized for speicific keywords to rank lower than those which do not have good keyword usage. The reason, according to my assessment is that "off page optimization" part of SEO is much more important that on-page optimization. If the off-page optimization is done brilliantly, then even low quality pages can be made to rank higher. That is why most experts say that for success, you should design the webpage not for the search engines but for users (which will definitely save a lot of time and effort and also the page will look appealing to visitiors) to achieve higher search engine results (the actual part of success) webmaster's should spend more and more time on off-page optimization, the main part of which is link building. What I want to say is that even if the usage of keyword is not awesome, you can still rank higher if you build backlinks properly. So instead of wasting time on checking keyword densities and which keywords to use, we should spend time on selecting anchor texts for backlinks and building more backlinks. -
According to google, the hottest spot for ads to be places in in between the content of the page. I as wondering that how can I make my post divide into two parts so that about 1/4 of it appears above and 3/4 appears below the ads placed within. Is that possible. One method is to manually enter the code of the ads in every post at position where you like but I don't want to do that. I just want these ads to appear in only single post pages automatically in the center of the content. Is it possible.

Change The Appearance Of Link That Links To Current Page
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Programming
Thank you for showing me some light.I have done a little search on google and I am thinking of "strcmp" as the possible solution but I cannot figure it out completely. Have a look at the following code. $home="<a href="http://www.mananatomy.com/ href="http://www.mananatomy.com/about href="http://www.mananatomy.com/contact (strcmp("index.php" $currentpage)) {$home="home"} else if (strcmp("mananatomy.com/about" $currentpage)) {$about="About"} else (strcmp("mananatomy.com/contact" $currentpage)) {$contact="Contact"}I know there are some problems with the code but I can't figure them out. I am not clear about the following points.1. what will be the format of value returned by "$_SERVER[php_SELF]" for pages that have no extension for example http://www.mananatomy.com/about 2. Suppose I get it right in this way by making the links as php variables, then how will I apply all the css that is currently applied to "ul.menu a". -
Change The Appearance Of Link That Links To Current Page
Ahsaniqbalkmc posted a topic in Programming
I have a <ul> of links right at the top of my website that display links to the main pages of my website.I want to change the appearance of the link that is linking to currently open page so that it gets a little bolder and no more remains a link. For example I have 3 links "Page1, Page2, Page3" in the <ul>. Now when someone clicks on link "Page1" and Page number 1 opens, then the link "page1" should become a little bolder and not remain a link,What php code can let me accomplish the effect. For information, I am using wordpress. -
I have a website based on human anatomy namely Mananatomy.com and I have an associated blog with it. Both the website and blog have the same wordpress core i.e. blog is just like a page of the main website. Now after seeing good response to my blog posts, and feeling the need of customizing some settings to improve my blog's performance, I am planning to install a separate wordpress core on a subdomain of my main website (the url will shift from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). I have only 5 or 6 posts so redirecting the old urls to new ones will not be a problem but I need your suggestions (especially the suggestion from Starscream) that should I do this to gain some liberty for my blog customization. I know that it is possible to customize the blog present in the same wordpress core as my website but because of my limited knowledge of php and other stuff, I am finding it rather difficult. So should I do it or not?

Does Using Copied Content Affect Your Serp?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Websites and Web Designing
All information provided by you was very helpful. I think it is best to experiment with stuff like that to know the exact truth. But according to common sense, google should hate copied content because otherwise the internet will become a mess and there will be no original content left because after all Google is the master. -
Does Using Copied Content Affect Your Serp?
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I think you are right. Well this is injustice then. There is a possibility Not at all. Infact after seeing pages like that, I am planning to start using some copied text in my pages. -
I have read a lot of articles and posts saying that Search Engines don't like copied content. They penalize websites that use them and many more things similar to these. Today when I was searching for "Best ways to use Google analytics", I found two websites having the same content word by word both ranking on the first page of the search. Urls of the sites under discussion are; http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Now my question is that isn't all the information studded on different websites saying that GOOGLE DOES NOT LIKE COPIED CONTENT false? I mean if in reality google doesn't like copied content, what are both of these websites doing at the first page of the search.

Two Simple Seo Points I Am Not Clear About.
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Search Engines
I checked out the websites you mentioned. I am hoping to get some money from my website and then invest on it. I recently read an article about HTML 5 and I remember one point that the author mentioned. The author said that for the time being there is not much support for HTML 5 in the commonly used internet browsers so until browsers develop some support, it is not advisable to go for it. What do you say about it? -

I think php is not that difficult to learn, at least the basics of it. I am finding it quite enjoying. Starsceam has given me some advice about not wasting too much of my time on non-productive things and I am really following it. I want to know about creating your own plugin or widget. I have not heard of it. How can I create a widget for my website? can you tell me something on it. Well yes I know I am up against professionals, but this is life my friend. You have to compete to succeed. -

Can This Effect Be Achieved? [solved]
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Websites and Web Designing
You have given me some light but this is not the exact solution. I do not want first <strong> child of every element to be of that specific design. I want first <strong> child of div.summary to be of that particular design. -

I know flash is very time consuming but I find it enjoyable and I have not finalized things yet. Time gives experience which changes everything. And yes you are right that time is a little problem but I must tell you I hardly give any time to my medical studies. Its so boring. You just have to repeat the same thing again and again and again like a parrot so that you don't forget it. But still I have managed to get some good score in my first prof MBBS part 1 by studying only in the last two months before exams. Just for curiousity, can you give me one or two examples of websites using paid wordpress themes so that I can clearly see the difference. -
I have a wordpress based website (mananatomy.com) and I am looking for an effect to achieve. The format of my pages is somewhat like that;==========================================<h1> ( the title of the post I make through wordpress)==========================================Outline: (<strong class="outline">)Introduction to "keyword"<h2>)<h2><h2>==========================================Now what I actually want to achieve is that the first <strong> tag in my post automatically gets the class "outline" so that I do not have to write it again and again with every page I enter. Is this possible?
-
I was reading an article on ezinearticles.com. I checked the page source (just because of curiosity) to check whether the links in the article are dofollow or nofollow. Amzingly I could not find any rel attribute with the links. What does this mean? will the links be considered as dofollow or nofollow. Will google pass the PR juice to the linked page.

Two Simple Seo Points I Am Not Clear About.
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Search Engines
Thank you for your valuable suggestions my friend. You are absolutely right about digging too deep into the php. I also don't want to waste my time on stuff that is not going to help me achieve my goal. I am just studying the language on surface. I am just getting a feel of it so that when I need to edit something in my wordpress theme or add a feature to the website (I have plan to add some flash based content after I achieve my goal of 300 pages (I already know some flash) and I want this to be like "only for members" thing.) SO what I am doing now is just getting some knowledge of the language and then when I reach to 300 pages (obviously I would have gained some experience through conversations with you and through necessary editing in my website by then if I have my base strong). By navigation I meant to improve the navigation as compared to what is now?. You can check it out at mananatomy.com (any other page than home page). I have problem with custom menus. They are not appearing correctly. Similarly there are other problems and when I have some basic knowledge of php, I will be able to figure it out. (I hope so) -
Two Simple Seo Points I Am Not Clear About.
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Search Engines
Well for the time being I am just collecting information. I am just trying to get into the pros and cons of SEO. I am trying to understand what to do and what not to do with SEO techniques. I am getting infrormation about how to obtain backlinks, where to obtain them from, about article marketing, about getting links from blog commenting and forum posting etc. I am just trying to learn these. Currently I am just adding content to my website. The concept is (it may be totally wrong because its my own thought and never heard from a pro) that once my website has enough quality content to impress people, I will start building backlinks at a moderate rate along with adding more content (with a slow pace) so I have more chances to keep my visitors and not loose them. I think that with my website having only 10% developed, (especially with poor navigation and search features) any audience coming to it will not like to come back for a long time. If I am wrong please correct me. Another benefit I think of first adding adequate content is that it would then be much easier to obtain backlinks for authority websites.Currently I am just adhering to using clean titles, only one h1 tag, up to five h2 tags (containing my secondary keywords) and just trying to do some keyword density stuff (I have never achieved what I desired with keyword density). After reaching 100 pages I am planning to give some time to develop a nice navigation and search features (I am also learning php along with adding content to my website and I hope it will help me) and then I will start obtaining backlinks slowly and steadily. -

Two Simple Seo Points I Am Not Clear About.
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to Ahsaniqbalkmc's topic in Search Engines
Well that was really helpful from you starscream and I really liked the line "stop taking advice" but I can't stop it because I cannot find help on some issues that I don't understand and advice of senior's like you is the only source of knowledge.I have another query for you. According to my study on SEO, Each page should be developed as a separate website (in terms of backlinks, keywords etc). IF I am right, then how do the search engine determine relativity between pages. I will give you an example. When I had about 30 pages on my website, I ranked below 60 in google SERP for the keyword "Human Anatomy" and today when I have 39 pages (none of these pages has been optimized for the keyword "Human Anatomy", and one or do of them even don't have it a single time), my current SERP for "human Anatomy" is 31.So how would you explain this. Is it just a matter of time (I must tell you that I have added these 9 pages in less than a week). I can't understand. -
I am not an seo expert but I have read a lot of articles ad posts about SEO. There are some points that are quite clear about SEO like gaining backlinks and using keywords but I am rather confused about two things. So if any one can help me about them, it will be great.Number 1:The first point about SEO is related to getting backlinks. I do understand the importance of backlinks and where to get them from but there is a point I do not understand. I have read in a lot of posts and articles, that it is no deference in the value of one backlink and ten backlinks from the same domain. If i elaborate it a little bit, this means that once you have got a backlink from a website, getting more and more backlinks from the same website is of no value. they are all still counted as one vote. Now the point which I don't understand is that for each of my website's pages to rank higher, I have to get backlinks for each of them, and suppose I get a backlink to http://www.mysite.com/index.htm from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/,'>http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, will getting another backlink from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ be of any value?. Will both backlinks be considered as a single vote and if yes then will this vote be considered for index.htm or page1.htm?Number 2:Suppose I have a website with title "Human Anatomy". I make a page about Bones of the Hand and I have to decide a title for it that not only gets me good results for search term "Bones of the hand" but also lift my site a little higher in the SERP for the main keyword "Human Anatomy". I think I should explain it a little more. My primary keyword which I am targetting is "Human Anatomy". I want my website to rise in SERP for the keyword "Human Anatomy" with new content added to my website. I make a new page on the topic Bones of Human Hand. Now the topic is very specific and it cannot include the terms like "Human Anatomy" in the content. So what I think is that making title like "Bones of hand | Human Anatomy" should get me both results at a time. The page should perform at least average for keyword "Bone of hand" and the SERP of the website overall for the keyword "Human Anatomy" should rise because there is more relevant content added to the website. Now the problem with this theory is that by adding the term "Human Anatomy" I am diluting the title's effect for keyword "Bones of Hand" and the SERP of the website as a whole for main keyword "Human Anatomy" may rise, but the rank of the page for keyword "bones of hand". may suffer. So what is the best solution in such cases where you want to add new content which cannot include your main keyword, but still you get good results on the page's primary keyword as well as the website's primary keyword.

Yes I have some knowledge of php and I have xampp already installed on my pc. I have read a book on the topic php for complete beginners and I have got some introduction to php. The problem with me is that I cannot remember those codes because I read the book at a pace of about 100 pages in 3 hours. (I don't think its a big problem because you can search anytime for whatever you want). At this pace I am not going to learn any php but I just wanted an introduction so that I can edit some pages at my website. I like learning from ebooks and this sort of stuff. I do not like tutorials but if they are excellent, then I do take them. If you can suggest any book to me for learning php, please do it. I really want to make a nice website that can earn me good income.
