I was just wondering, is the moderating system (I don't know what else to call it) so absolute and so strict that with a single wrong click or a single mistake, the entire topic is gone forever. Aren't there protective measures taken against mistakes. I would love to know about how the moderation works at Xisto forums. It would so kind of you @yordan to share this with us...

I don't have any personal experience with 3 displays used simultaneously but I do have quite extensive experience with 2 displays. I agree that the most comfortable position for reading text is just in front of your nose but I don't agree with your statement that displays at the left or right side would make the working table a circle or would make reading or working difficult. From my experience, I can tell that in certain situations two displays are much much better than a single display, especially if you are using a mid-sized laptop which are very common these days. For instance, now at this very moment, I am writing this post in a way that I don't prefer. I am using a single display but I have two firefox windows opened simultaneously aligned side by side to each other. I am using one window for dealing with sms messages that come to my mobile phone (I like to work only on my laptop when I am working on it and at such time using the mobile phone for replies is not what I like). In the second window I am typing this post. I said I don't like this setup because both windows are half visible and every now and then I have to scroll left or right to see the full content, which is quite a pain. Now compare this difficulty with the difficulty that arises when using two monitors. If I had my second monitor available to me right now, my setup would have been something like this. One window of firefox open on one monitor and the other on the second monitor. Thus I would have been able to view the complete content of both windows at the same time. The only requirement would have been to move my neck or my eyes a bit. I don't consider this moving of neck or eyes an extra trouble at all because even if you have to view the content on a single screen you might have to move your neck a bit. And with just a little bit more movement, you can have the luxury of seeing the whole picture at once. Which is definitely worth it I think. I am not sure about 3 display setup, but I didn't have any circular working environment issues with two displays. It was just like my main display was stretched horizontally. Though the movement of neck is increased to view the all the content but as I mentioned earlier, I think it is definitely worth the good things that two displays bring to the table.

Iphone 5 Still Looks To Be Another Hit For Apple
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to manuleka's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Most iPhone users appear to be die hard fans of their devices. They would praise about stuff that should not be praised at all. For instance, before the release of iPhone 5, all iphone fans used to say that small screen is better than those huge android screens because it is designed to use with one hand. And now when the release of iphone 5 has made it clear that larger screens are better, they appear to praise the larger screens.I think apple has manipulated its reputation so successfully that people can't even think about other stuff better than their apple devices, while actually some of the other stuff is in fact better than their apple devices. Every person has his own likings and dislikings but what is irritating about many iphone users is that they would try to praise every aspect of their phone even though they will actually feel disappointed about their devices. I simply don't know why..... -
Any Free Web To Text Site? No Spam Site Please
Ahsaniqbalkmc replied to kingdomtroy's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Recently I found out that you can send text messages via gmail directly to your mobile. It was quick and easy to send a message from the gmail account but instead of receiving the actual message, I received a confirmational message. After confirming, I received the actual message. The service seems to be good but there is one big limitation. There is some credit system (that I don't fully understand yet)m which limits the sending capacity of a new user to 50 messages. I don't know whether you have to pay for more messages or there is some other criteria but the fact remains that the service is limited. -
I recently bought a new laptop with the following specs:Model: Dell Inspiron 7520Processor : 3rd Generation IntelĀ® Core i7-3612QM Processor 2.10 GHzRAM: 8 Gigs DDR3Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7730M DDR3 2GBHard drive: 1 TB @ 5400 rpm....As you can see the system is pretty good and I am happy with the performance. But I was wondering, how much performance boost I can get if I replace the hard drive with a SSD. Or as @manuleka mentioned, use ssd as a system drive and the rotating disk hard drive for storage. Will the performance boost be reasonable and worth the price?I have one additional question. Will the performance boost seen by a system with faster processor and more ram (after shifting to a SSD from a typical hard drive) be equal to the performance boost seen by a system with slower processor and lesser ram.Let me quantify the situation... will the perofrmance boost seen by a system with 3rd generation core i7 quad core processor and 8 Gigs of ram be equal to the performance boost seen by a system with 2nd generation core i3 processor with 4 GB of ram.?

Though I don't know the answer to @manuleka's problem, but I am wondering how is saving of the document managed when multiple instances are open at once. I mean will the whole document be saved (all changes made in all instances) when ctrl+s is pressed in any of the open windows or just the part open in the respective window will be saved. it is kind of confusing for me.....

Preferably, I would want them to be saved locally. But if there is an option of storing the images and videos on an online cloud storage (or something like that), it would be a good addition. But I can live without this second option without any issue.

I use both windows and Linux. So software for any platform would work for me. Do you any suggestions?
-
Yes exactly! I want the software to be alert all the time so for example if someone lifts the lid of my laptop it takes a picture. Similarly if the screen is already open, the software should take a picture when someone starts using the computer. I would also like advanced functions like taking a picture when someone types a wrong password. Or start recording video based on the motion sensing feature.. etc..

Well, the topic starter (nabila1230) must know whose work is being posted here.

Doesn't it work like that?..... I buy one DVD for installing onto one system and as long as I am installing the DVD contents only on one (my own) system, it doesn't matter how I install it... My logic of all this is that the software is meant to be installed only on my system. There should be no concern about how I install it. And as I have paid for the software, not only for the DVD (as is obvious from the price), there should be no frowning on whether I keep the software on my hard disk as a backup or not. As I have already paid for the software, I should be able to keep it on my hard disk in whatever form I want. There is only one serial key and as long as I am not trying to register the software with different serial numbers, I should be able to form ISO images or whatever. This seems logical to me because it only means that I would be able to install/reinstall the software in a way that suits me better. And I don't think the cycle of installing -> uninstalling -> reinstalling is illegal even if repeated 100 times.

I have two additional questions for you @yordan..1) Does the way a disk is partitioned have any effect on the fragmentation (and consequently on the performance) of the hard disk?2) Is there anythink like fragmentation in SSDs (Solid State Drives) and USB thumb drives.?
-
You are right about the movies but the setups of various games I own are kept on my hard drive sort of permanently. Some of these files are even larger than the movie files and they sit tight in one place. How does this effect the fragmentation of the disk. Wow... This is all new information for me. And it has provided me with an idea of how the operating system works with the storage. The information on splitting of a file and the redirection process is kind of amazing for me. I didn't have the slightest of idea about files being managed in this way. And now I can think clearer about different files of different sizes organized in such a way that the entire disk space is used. This provides great insight into the way hard drives work. By combining this information with the fact that traditional hard disks have well-defined sectors for data storage, one can think more clearly about how the hard disks are used by the operating system for stroing various files. This explanation is solid enough for a computer user like me to defragment the hard disk on a regular basis. My laptop is not a performance beast and I think tweaks like this would help me get the most out of my machine.

Ok... So here is what I normally do on my computer.. On a normal day when I turn my computer on, the first thing I always do is open up firefox and check my Email. Then I check my adsense account to see previous day's earnings. After that, if the schedule for the day ahead is not very busy, I open up the Xisto forum and see if there are any new topics to which I can contribute. I may then watch some news etc... Normally I would then turn the computer off and return to my offline life. Most of the time I spend on my computer is in the evening and night. During this time I manage my downloads, uploads and shares. Sometimes the files are very large and sometimes very small. One thing I do alot is I copy lots of stuff from USB sticks. The Blu-ray drive on my laptop is not functioning well so any thing I have to bring into my computer is via USB or Internet. If I have to watch some movie, I would first copy the movie into the usb stick from the movie dvd using my friend's computer and then I would copy the movie into my laptop's hard drive. The same goes for software and games... In short there is lots of copying pasting going on... And I do watch movies alot. One other thing I do alot is writing (using microsoft word 2010). But my guess is that because the file size of these documents is so small, the defragment thing is hardly going to have any effect on this. I do edit images using my graphics tablet and adobe photoshop but mostly the images are small in size (as they are mostly intended for my website). The image size rarely goes beyond 1 mb. Movie editing is not my thing yet. I don't do it. Furthermore when I am doing some project related to development, I use software like aptana studio, dreamweaver etc.. In short, most of the time I spend on my computer is spent either with firefox or watching movies.

What common computer process would fall into this category?

Now I have started to figure out why the wintoflash utiltiy didn't work. Instead of providing the actual dvd as the source, I provided the faulty iso image (mounted onto a virtual drive) as the source. And as the image was faulty, there was no way it would have worked.I will try the wintoflash utility again correcting the above mistake and see what happens. However, my question of how to create bootable iso images of windows disk still remains unanswered. I certainly know that it is not impossible and there must be some way around.I haven't tried the more manual method posted by @yordan. The thing about these more manual methods is that they are difficult to start with but once you get yourself familiar with the procedure, it becomes super cool and super reliable. I would definitely give it a try but I am finding it very hard to find spare time these days............

I have a 500 gigs hard drive. It has 3 NTFS partitions and one EXT4 partiotion. On average, the hard diskt is about 80% full. And last time I ran disk defrag utility was some 6 months ago. If I perform a disk defragment, should I expect faster speeds in processes that continually read and write data to hard drive.

So do you have any suggestion for me? When I use the "Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool" to create a usb from a downloaded (pirated) .iso image of windows 7, it works. However when I create an iso of my original windows 7 disk, it doesn't work... The question I have in mind is how are these .iso images created. There must be something I am doing wrong while creating the iso image... I don't want to install a pirated OS on my computer and I badly need to get this to work..

How much performance increase are we talking about here?

While discussing the best of defragmenting a hard drive, can someone elaborate the benefits of defragmentation.
