Tips For Long Term Computer Happiness
Vistz replied to tansqrx's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Don't forget tips like deleting your temp folder or other unnecessary files. To do this automatically, you can use a program such as CCleaner. CCleaner also gives you the option of passing through your files multiple times just in case it missed something on its first pass. -
It was a few years ago. But I've definitely improved a great deal (in my opinion) since I started.

My favorite class is computer science. I personally find it relaxing. I enjoy it because when you're trying to solve a problem, there's no 1 way to go about it. This contrasts greatly with other subjects such as math and science, where there is generally only 1 right answer and 1 maybe 2 ways to get to it.

Google Adsense Pay Per Click (CPC) Program Review
Vistz replied to OpaQue's topic in Online Advertising
I like Google Ad Sense. From what I have heard from other people, it can be either very reliable. However, you do run into the problem of people spamming the ads, which would result in you losing all of your money -
When I was running windows, I had a combination of AVG and Avira. They were usually able to get the job done. Occasionally I would run SpyBot Search and Destroy but most of the time, AVG and Avira would suffice. Now, I'm running Linux and I don't have to worry about viruses.

Do you like reading books for a school subject?
Vistz replied to iGuest's topic in General Discussion
I absolutely despise reading books for school. It just takes all the fun out of reading. When I was younger, I used to be an avid reader. When you're reading for fun, you're not analyzing every little detail. But when you're reading for school, every word you read might be an allusion to something else. So all in all, reading books for school is not my thing. -
That's actually a really good deal. Our yearbooks were a lot more expensive and we didn't get a T-shirt. The yearbook was really nice though.

I had already created an introduction on Xisto so I'll just use that:Hey guys, I'm Vistz. I'm a college student and I'm majoring in computer science. I'm interested in playing basketball, soccer, playing the guitar, and programming. Currently, I am learning Java in my classes but I am also learning bits of C++, Python, and Perl on the side. As for the secret behind my user name. I think it was a few years ago when I was looking for help with my laptop. I was running Microsoft Vista. By accident, I typed "Vistz" instead of "Vista" into Google. And I thought that it looked kinda cool so I stuck with it. Anyway, nice to meet all of you.

I don't think there's any need to remove it. Just don't use it. Microsoft has integrated IE into Windows in such a way that it makes removing IE difficult if not impossible.

I like Friday's the best because my classes are finally over and I get to hang out with friends and enjoy the weekend. Monday's are the worst because it's right after the weekend. Also, Monday is also the day where my classes go until 5 pm.

Back Up different thoughts about making backups
Vistz replied to zenia's topic in Security issues & Exploits
I generally backup my important files on an external hard drive. I started doing this after I nearly lost 200 GB of data a few years ago. I know of some sites that offer their services to store your data online. But I don't want to do this since if you want to access it, you would have to download it. This would become a tedious task if you have large files that you want to back up.But for smaller files that you need to keep safe, an online storage site might be the right answer for you. -
Good story. This is probably what I would have done. This story is one of the reasons that I want to learn more about networking. Not just breaking into poorly encrypted networks but also solidifying my own.

Googletv a new way to surfe the internet on the tv
Vistz replied to zenia's topic in Hardware Workshop
I too am a fan of Google. I personally like how they manage to integrate the apps within each other. However, once Google TV comes out, I'll probably wait awhile before using it. From what I can tell, Google TV combines all of the applications and websites such as Chrome, Pandora, and Amazon into one place. I personally have no need to combine all of my websites/applications. -
Ubuntu is (in my opinion) the simplest distro of Linux available. You can download it here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I like it because if you're not up to using the terminal, the GUI provides alternatives so that you can still complete whatever task you need to do. Also, it's lightweight (like other distros). My favorite is that it doesn't require any drivers when your print documents. I say this because I'm on a laptop and many times, I go to a friends house and I need to print something. I just hook up my laptop to the printer and the printer is automatically detected.

To answer your question. I started programming in high school where I learned Java. I learned bits and pieces of C++, Python, and Perl on my own. Currently, I am trying to get more experience in C++ as well as other languages. This is so I can make my resume more "colorful".

The New Ubuntu Release (maverick Meerkat) Is Now Available
Vistz replied to Vistz's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Well with my laptop, the CPU throttles after I've been watching a video for about 15-20 minutes. I'm hoping they fixed that problem in Maverick. -

Not sure about that specific issue. I personally am going to stay with Lucid (the previous version) for awhile. I've read that there isn't a significant change from 10.04 to 10.1 but I don't want to discover some hidden bug after I make the switch.
