Avalon Gift Sigs version 1 and version 2
Avalon replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Thank you SM, very cool sigs as always! Just wondering what sort of car that is? It looks like a car I would love to have but probably be too scared to drive in case somebody crashes into it!Thanks again mate. -
Marriage I think its a waste of time, and money
Avalon replied to Nani Cheri's topic in Dating And Relationships
Definitely do not make the commitment unless the love is there. Just be prepared to work at keeping the love there with trust and respect. Any long term relationship takes work to keep it going, it doesn't just happen magically like some many people seem to think. So your parents are still going at it? That's good, while sex is important in a relationship, (needs and desires) a relationship based solely on sex will not last. And yes, after 23 years we're still at it too. -
Marriage I think its a waste of time, and money
Avalon replied to Nani Cheri's topic in Dating And Relationships
I tend to agree with Nani Cheri's original post here. I have been happily married for 23 years, (a bit of a rarity these days) and it's NOT the marriage itself that is important, it's the relationship within the marriage. There is no reason why you couldn't be in a relationship with a person for 23 years without being married. It's more a culture thing, the culture of the country you are in will determine as to whether or not it is socially acceptable to be in a long term relationship, (with or without children), without being married.Marriage is like any other relationship, it takes time to nurture and grow to be successful. Don't rush into a commitment. In Australia, possibly like many other countries, I think once you have been in a relationship for more than 1 year, the legal rights of both parties are similar to being married. So in the eyes of the law, you are essentially married. What makes a marriage or any other long term relationship work you ask? Just 2 words: TRUST and RESPECT. If both partners can trust each other and respect each others needs and desires, the relationship has a very good chance of surviving. These 2 words apply to any relationship, including business relationships. If you cannot trust a business you deal with and they won't respect your needs, the relationship will not succeed, you will take your business elsewhere. -
Thanks SM. I guess the next logical question is why allow people to have a possible signature length of 50,000 characters? Imagine the spam in the forums if someone maxed out their signature allowance? Wouldn't it make sense to reduce the character allowance so it could never happen?

The problem appears to be that ATSPACE.COM does not allow hotlinking of images. This means you can only use images at atspace.com on pages that are hosted on atspace.com To overcome this problem you can upload your image to a graphics host such as http://imageshack.us/ for free. I and many others here use imageshack and find it very useful. Hope that helps.

I have noticed in my Forum Control Panel I can have up to 50,000 characters in my signature. I know hosting credits are partly based on the size of your posts. My question is: Is the signature included as part of the post when measuring post size?I am guessing it's not. Otherwise you would a lot of ridiculously large 'text' signatures on the forums. But you never know, it might be something that everyone has overlooked and luckily doesn't seem to have been exploited so far. I realise of course that signatures that have been 'inflated' to exploit a loophole like this would be quickly spotted by the moderators and the member would be asked to change it.Anyway, I am just curious. (pointing to his graphical signature below so as not to be accused of exploiting a possible loophole)

Quick And Easy Font Instaler from the right click menu
Avalon replied to moldboy's topic in General Discussion
What it does is gives you an "Install" menu item in the 'right click' menu when you right click on a font file, (with a TTF file extension). It uses a batch file to copy the font to your c:\windows\fonts\ folder, which will install the font.A very simple and easy to use solution that could be used in other applications with a bit of thought. Well done! -
Getting Help With My Ftp trying to connect to one
Avalon replied to =TuK=Butcher's topic in Web Hosting Support
Your first problem is you don't have enough hosting credits for free hosting. From the "Free Web Hosting Account request" subforum... Also, as rvalkass has pointed out, you have posted this message in the wrong forum. This is something that is frowned upon here, the purpose is to keep the topics in the forums relevant to the subject of the forum. This post should have been in the Support and Feedback forum. Don't be surprised if you get a warning from one of the moderators for this. I suggest you read the forums to understand how Xisto works. While they do provide no cost web hosting, you do have to 'work' for it, (if you could call it work). If you participate in the forums with quality posts, you will be rewarded with free hosting. Your application for hosting is what would be considered a 'spam' post, 2 words is NOT a post. Read the guides to posting in the forums and you will find it easy gain the hosting credits you require. With the extensive range of topics here, I'm sure you'll find something that interests you. Welcome to Xisto! Notice from BuffaloHELP: Edited as requested. -
My Newest be warn anime render is kind of
Avalon replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I think the halo effect is kinda cool, just a bit overdone on this sig. I hate to say it, but I think this type of background is somewhat overdone too, a lot of sigs use this style of background. Maybe in different colors and slightly altered, but basically the same. I'm glad this is only an experiment, I like the idea, it just needs more work as you have pointed out and the render doesn't really fit. I'd like to see what you finally come up with. -
From what I can tell "clanavengers.com" is not a registered domain. To use a domain you need to first register your domain with a domain registrar. There are many registrars available, GoDaddy is an example of one of them. Domain registration is not free with your hosting account here. If you would rather not pay for domain registration, you could use a domain name like "clanavenger.trap17.com" with your account for free. Ask in here to change your domain name. Welcome to Xisto!

You need to understand that learning a programming language is something people go to courses for years to do. To learn it properly by yourself you will need to invest in many books and spend a lot of time practising, possibly years. Common sense is not something that is easily applied to programming until you fully understand the structure of the language. While I wish you well in your endeavour, I suspect you will struggle with the commitment required, no offence intended. Be prepared to spend a lot of time making a lot of mistakes and learning from them.Good luck!

I also dislike WYSIWYG editors, not only do they make invalid code, they also generate a lot of unnecessary code. The idea of using a WYSIWYG editor to learn coding also not a great idea, it will teach the wrong way to code. I suggest a text editor that has shortcut buttons for the common functions like tables, forms etc that also has a real time previewer. This means you can immediately see the output of your code as you write it and change it so you get the result you want. A very good example of one of these types of editors is Alleycode, it's small, fast and free. You can download it here.

I love the concept of your site, very helpful. I must admit however, when I fist opened your site I thought it was one of annoying search pages that seem to pop up all over the place. I would have liked to see some sort of 'mouseover' effect on your links so I could be sure of which link I had selected. Whether it be a font color change or background color change, just some sort of change when I was over a link. The only other thing I think could be improved is the color of the text for your title, I find it a little hard to read the red on a blue background, it could be just my eyes though.I think epox's idea of using drop boxes might worth looking at, currently you site seems to repeat itself a lot with similar links under each language. Overall it a nice site, albeit a little plain in the layout. 8/10 from me.

Hey SM, where did you get all these renders? Surely you didn't cut them all yourself? By the way, when you say 30 credits per download, is that hosting credits? (I don't even have that many)
-
Ok, so maybe it's not an Orc. But it does kinda look like one. Cut off his legs in a sig and who would know the difference? As for his arm with the hammer being cut too much, I don't think so, look at the original image below.

Daman Gift Sig V2 thats another one
Avalon replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Ok, I know I'm no expert in sigs but this one suffers from what I think is a problem. The background is overwhelming the text and render taking the focus away from them. I have seen this many times before and in my humble opinion it detracts from the entire purpose of a sig. Just my opinion of course. -
Senor Maniac Gift Sig V2 mucho deniro
Avalon replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I love the 3D effect of him appearing to step out of the sig.I don't if it's just my eyes, but the text looks a little blurred. Was that intentional? Also the lower left side of the "M" kinda looks like it was added later. -
Here is an orc warrior render I thought might be useful those of you involved in Xisto's new Army System. I have quite a few of these types of images, I'll make some more renders of this genre in the future. Enjoy!

Ah yes, and it was also once thought that the world flat. However we have since changed our thinking in that area, why can't we change our thinking in this too? Since those first cartographers made their maps we have discovered space, where there is no up or down. So why does the Northern hemisphere still hold with this ancient idea when we have discovered it no longer applies? Elitism perhaps? By the way, sxyloverboy's first comment is probably the most applicable to this thread.
-
Arghh! But that's the whole point. There is no UP and DOWN in space. I'm sure it's a conspiracy to mess with everyone's mind. I bet really North and South are on a horizontal plane to each other. So it's LEFT and RIGHT, not UP and DOWN. Something to think about!
-
Something that has bothered me many years is the preconception by those in the Northern hemishpere that North is at the top of our planet. Being from Australia, I find it demeaning to have my country referred to as 'downunder'. This implies we are lower in status to counties in the Northern hemishpere. This preconception is further portrayed by cartographers all over the world by having North pointing to the top of every map in existence. Who is to say which way is up? There is no 'up' and 'down' in space, it's all relevant to your current position. Last time I checked our planet floats in space, therefore what gives those in the Northern hemispehere the right to say THEY are at the top of the planet. I suggest all Southern hemisphere countries should rally together and start a 'South Is Top' (S.I.T.) movement to have all the maps in the world changed to reflect South as being the top of maps. Below is a proposed logo for the movement. Come on countries of Southern hemisphere, UNITE! Together we can change the world, literally!

Logo For Trap17 Sorry if I have no rights to do that
Avalon replied to sader's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Hrm... the logo DOES look remarkably like the logo for Apple's 'dotmacsynch', see below. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Maybe Opaque did 'borrow' it afterall? Perhaps a competition for a new logo is not a bad idea. There's a lot of artistic talent in these forums, I'm sure the end result would be amazing. -
Logo For Trap17 Sorry if I have no rights to do that
Avalon replied to sader's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I'm curious about this too. Does the name Xisto have any significance? If it does, it might help to set the theme of the logo. I wonder if the current Xisto logo is the original and the other page where it was seen has copied it? I don't think Opaque is the type of person that would steal someone else's logo. -
Review My Website; Pls help me with some advices..
Avalon replied to kitty's topic in Websites and Web Designing
kitty, now when I try to leave your site a lot of windows popup, I don't remember this last time I visited.Personally I REALLY hate this, if you want to advertise and earn money, I suggest finding another way to do it. I will never return to site that uses this type of advertising, I find it offensive that advertising is forced upon me in this manner. I'm sure there are many others that feel the same way. Notice from Becca: That was kind of harsh. Please keep to constructive critism. People do have feelings here and if you want to tell them what's wrong with their site...just remember it's to improve and help them not upset them but I totally understand if you were just saying what you thought just try to put it in a less brusque manner
