DOH! I meant to blur the wheels so it would look in motion, but I forgot! I also removed the drop shadow on the text, I too think it looks better. The bevel is staying though because it's supposed to look like a car badge. I tried it in silver but it didn't go with the rest of the colors. Edited sig below. In fact there is a car called an 'Avalon' in Australia, it's made by Toyota. It looks nothing like the car above though, see below. I like my car MUCH better!

This car looked so wild I just had to make a sig with it. All comments appreciated.

I'm not familar with the phpfanbase script, but in most cases these scripts are designed to run 'stand-alone'. This means the script is the entire site and it's not always easy to tailor the look of the script to suit your site. I have looked at the homepage for the script and it appears to use CSS for it's formatting, in theory you should be able to tailor the CSS to suit your needs. To add the script to your site you should follow the install instructions that come with the script, they seem pretty comprehensive. The script homepage also has tutorial and FAQ sections that might help you. If you're still stuck, try asking your question on the forums at the script homepage. No, I don't think you could. Would you honestly consider a 4 line post as a post that has quality content? You might post something very profound in those 4 lines, but by itself it probably wouldn't mean a lot, usually it needs to be further explained with more text. By this I mean expand on your idea so others can better understand what it is you are trying to say. -
areawe picked up on what I was trying to do. Attract the viewers attention with the text and then when they look further they notice they are being 'watched'. :huh:I think the version I posted in SOTW #8 does it even better with the highlighting of the text that then leads to the eyes.

Here's another in my collection of gift sigs for the moderatoring team. As usual, all comments are appreciated. Add: Image edited to include some of Cool Freaker's suggestions and uploaded again as per wassie's request. Notice from BuffaloHELP: Edited as reported.

If you're looking for compression levels and overall performance then winrar is probably a good choice. If you're looking for compatability for users, I'd use Winzip. Winzip is by far the most popular form of file compression on the net. So if you're making a compressed file to share with other people, use Winzip. IF the compressed file is for yourself, use Winrar. I am of course talking about the different compression formats, not the programs themselves.

Yes, this is yet another sig rotation sript. It is possibly the simplest one yet being only 9 lines of code. It reads all the graphic files in the current directory and randomly chooses one to display. No need to edit the script as you add and remove sig files, the script will read the file list each time. Save the code below to a file called index.php and put it in in a directory called randomsig.png along with your sig files. <?php Header("Content-Type: image/gif");$sigarray=array();if ($handle = opendir("./")) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if(stristr($file, ".gif") or stristr($file, ".jpg") or stristr($file, ".png")){ array_push($sigarray,$file);} } }closedir($handle);shuffle($sigarray);readfile(end($sigarray));?> Then put the following code in your signature block. Obviously change 'your.domain.name' to YOUR domain or subdomain name. Those that know a little about PHP will notice I have not 'seeded' the random number generator, this is because it is not required with the version of PHP used at Xisto. That's all there is to it, enjoy! Notice from snlildude87: I am accepting this only because the code is different from the other two sig rotators, but next time, please submit only original IDEAS.

Not Given Credit For A Post? Problem in the script?
Avalon replied to Avalon's topic in Web Hosting Support
Well that explains it, sounds fair to me. Is it possible to mark the 'Sigs' subforum like the subforum 'Test this...(No Post Count)' in the General forum so others know? Might stop a lot of people asking the same question. -
Not Given Credit For A Post? Problem in the script?
Avalon replied to Avalon's topic in Web Hosting Support
Strange, now I am being given credits for some posts. It seems to a problem associated with the Sig forums, has posting count been turned off for this forum? I hope not, that is the forum I mostly post in. Notice from cmatcmextra: edited as request -
Saint Michael... Special Delivery from mr bluhapp
Avalon replied to bluhapp's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I really like this sig. Nice to see something different for a change. The only minor thing I can see wrong is the red circles to the right of the render's head seem a little blurry, could be a result of the drop shadow perhaps. Cute render! -
I just posted a reasonable post here and did not appear to be given any credits for it. I know this because I always check the number of credits I get for each post, just to see if I improve each time. I don't really need the credits as I have plenty, but I'm wondering if there might be a problem with the 'credit' script. As you can see my post consisted primarily of a list, maybe this confused the script? Can someone please check if the script awards credits correctly when a list is used? [EDIT] After further testing, it seems this problem is not confined to lists, I don't seem to be getting credits for any posts. Probably not for this one either.

In this case I wanted the render to stand out, (like it's 'in your face') hence the drop shadow and minimal blending. As for Cool_Freaker's comment about it being boring, perhaps the variation I entered in SOTW #8 makes it less boring?

OK Moody, here's my thoughts about your sig. You need to do something with the text, the semi-transparent effect might work if the text had some stroking around it. The background looks too big, if you had cut the background down to the size where you have the lines it would be better. There appears to be too much of the same thing in the background, perhaps add some other colors. The drop shadow on the render is too heavy and it is cut off at the bottom of the sig. What is that lighter colored thing on the background at the lower right of the sig? The smaller image would have looked better if it was actually a cut of the render. The render itself looks too bright, it appears to be 'washed out' in places. The vertical line at the smaller image extends above and below the border, shouldn't it finish at the border? 6/10 from me. Hope the feedback helps.

Sig Of The Week #8 -- Entries Entries here only
Avalon replied to snlildude87's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
Here's my entry, an edited version of a sig I posted earlier today in the Showoff section. -
Here's another sig, tried a few different things to see how they work. (still learning PS) I tried to make it simple yet striking. Let me know what you think.

Season 2 Episode 18 Sig first sig after surgery XP
Avalon replied to Saint_Michael's topic in Graphics, Design & Animation
I'm sorry SM but I'm not really liking this sig, but this is just my opinion of course.- Render looks too small compared to overal sig size- Cutout background is distracting- The legs of the render appear to be just cut off rather than blended- The colors/brushing of the background and text give the appearance of blood, (perhaps something to do with your recent operation?), it doesn't suit the render type.Given my experience with sigs, my comments probably don't count for much but that's what I think about the sig. -
Please do not be rude to Dark God, everyone is entitled to their opinions/ideas whether you agree with them or not. Hopefully I won't get in trouble for hijacking this thread because that is not the intention. I can see where Dark God is coming from but I don't agree with giving more credits for the same amount of posting. However, what about a variation on Dark God's idea. Dark God says they have a lot of members of their web site. What if their members could contribute to these forums with posts like everyone else and the credits for the posts go to Dark God's account. This means their members could support their site AND help keep the forums here active? These members of Dark God's site would not be able to have their own site unless they applied for an account under a different user name and posted under that name to earn credits. I think this could work, have a 'supporters' forum account where the forum user must nominate at the time of account creation what other forum user they would like their credits to go to. Another benefit with this idea is that your friends/members could keep the account active if you happen to be away for an extended time. What do you think? P.S. You can already do something along these lines by using the credit transfer option in the Hosting Account Center

From this post I doubt anyone could tell that English is not your first language. Yes, I'm sure it's more difficult for users where English is not their native language. But as you have pointed out, it's still possible to post enough to keep your site going. Hopefully reading and posting here will improve your knowledge of English and it will become easier. -

Yes, that is exactly why I posted in this forum, hopefully potential new users will see it and not be scared by the need to post. I don't agree with this, I think Opaque wanted to make this a free hosting service that doesn't require you to put ads on your site. I know you said the ads would be an option, but if people start seeing ads on Xisto sites they might think it's a requirement. More importantly, if people are able to replace the need to post with placing an ad on their site, the participation in the forums will decline dramatically. From what I understand, not only does OpaQue want to provide ad free hosting, he also wants to build a strong forum community, even if he rarely has the time to participate himself. -
I agree with this idea for keeping sigs under control. I am on a dial-up connection and sometimes it takes ages for pages to load due to the file size of some of the sigs. I myself have been guilty of making large sigs, mainly because it seemed to be an accepted practice here. If there was a file size limit on sigs it would allow the pages to load faster and lessen the bandwidth used by the forums which should be a good thing for OpaQue. It would also present a new challenge to sig makers.

I used a female render because I assume you are female. I was thinking of making another sig for you using a fairy render, (because of your site vintagefairy.com), maybe not such a good idea by the sound of it. What type of render would you like to see, something gothic perhaps?

Actually, there are various abstract brushes under the leaves. I used them to try and give the appearance of grass under the leaves.
