Pc Hangs And Performance Decreases

hi all , I have never faced this kind of problem before.. Since last 4-5 days my pc hangs in every 4/5 mins. when it hangs I restart the pc and it hangs again in 4/5 mins. I don't know what the problem is...this is a serious problem for me.. what can be the Reason ?? can anyone help me ???Waiting for the reply ...Thanks

What operating system are you running? Is it up to date?What software and hardware changes to your PC have you made in the last 7 days?If you are running Microsoft Windows or Apple OS, have you run a virus scan?Are any error messages produced when the PC hangs?Are you doing anything in particular when the PC hangs?What software is running in the background on your PC?

First, You should check if you have any virus, spyware or malware problems with your computer, this is the culprit most the time. To check for viruses, get Avast Free Antivirus from cnet download.com here. Avast Free edition can fix almost all problems with trojans,etc. and it help get rid off bad software. After you have done that, try restarting your computer, if the problem still persists, you get a trail version of Eset NOD32 here and use that to get rid of any viruses, nod32 works out all the problems and get off everything that avast didn't get rid off. If none of the them works, read the next paragraph.

If that didn't work, seems like something is wrong inside your computer. Turn off your computer, unhook everything and unplug all the mouses and keyboards. Now, open your pc and put it on a table or on a chair. Take a duster or a computer vacuum and get all the dust out of the computer and the fans. Then, push in gently on the graphic cards and ram card. That could fix up any problems with the dust stuck on your computer's fan,etc.

Now, Try all of these methods and post if it works yet.

since your computer hanging every 3-4 minutes, i think there are two reasons. either a virus or something wrong with your hardware. and because it stills hanging now, i don't think you could check your system for any viruses,but if you could try downloading the trial version of either "trend micro internet security pro" or "eset node 32", both of them are the best in catching viruses, and made a full scan.?the other solution is checking your RAM, i saw this happened when the RAM is not it its place. so try to make sure it is pluged correctly, if it is still and could n't scan your pc then format your hard and see, if it happens again then it is certainly a hardware problem.?

Often times people have a lot of excess programs running that they do not even know about3) Consider upgrading your PC (as time goes along programs become more and more ram/cpu intensive. If you are using a very outdated PC that could definitely be the culprit)4) Consider doing a fresh reformat. Although a lot of people do not know about this, you should reformat your PC once a year (some claim 6 months but the general consensus is once a year). Doing this will clear everything from your system and allow you to start anew. Along with this it also speeds up everything because it clears defragmentation on the HDD.5) If you have not defragmented your HDD I would say to do that. On the same line is to clear unneeded files. As the HDD gets more full it starts slowing down a lot.Also, along this the issue could be with the HDD itself. If the HDD is dying it may be locking up/freezing while attempting to read data.There are just too many possibilities without knowing what you have done and have not done so far.

I just want to add a little bit to this, instead of doing all of that, download Tune-Up Utilities 2010, which you can get as a free trail (you can buy it if you like it and want the full version). With this program, you can set it to automatically defragment your HDD, cleans up the registry so the computer spends less time going through all the junk,remove unnecessary programs from the startup, clean up extensive programs, clear your memory, clear your ram usage, shows you a graph of the largest files in your computer so you can delete them and many other stuff if you get the full version, which i got. If you want to just get a freeware program, get CCleaner, which does basically the same thing. 

And i also want to say that you should try fresh formating your computer is the last option, if you do this all your files and programs will be lost and if you don't know the registration codes for some of your programs, thats it-- you will never see them again (unless you buy them again). So, if you are going to reformat, hold your horses.

hi, Firstly u should do as deadmad7 saying unplug and clean dust and plug it again ..and if it'll not working...then may be there is a prob of virus or may be bad & distorted registries..and also check for those programs that are useless..and running in background & stop them...after that you should optimize your PC...for this u can try Advanced System optimizer..Its tool Registry Cleaner and Registry Optimizer may help u in removing and Optimizing registries...u can also scan for virus and spyware as it has System Protector in built..!!Try it..!!http://download.cnet.com/Advanced-System-Optimizer/3000-2094_4-10147659.html?tag=mncol

you should really use a registry cleaner

I would strongly suggest that you stay away from the registry cleaner for now at least, and use it only as a last resort. Try out the other suggestions mentioned before resorting to the registry cleaner, because if you're not careful it can mess up your system even more. So try out the other suggestions before thinking about this.
