Are We Real? Please read before laughing :P

Are we real? Really? What if we are actually part of something so big we don't even matter? Or what if we are part of a dream that some higher being is dreaming? Lots of people say things like, "We can see and feel can't we? Then we are real!" But what if our senses like those are fake to make us believe we are actual.Where did the universe come from, or how was it made? It can't just "always be". Everything changes and comes from something else. How were living organisms created on earth? Did we just evolve from a group of atoms or something, and work our way from there?Think about it, and give me your input on this idea. I love viewing other people's points of view.

Well - I thought... and then The Matrix came out and now everything is crazy and I don't know what's what... AHHHHH!

that is funny because my grandpa would always bring up this question whenever i was around him and we were talking about the universe. hesays what if what we see is what we our selves are creating. our minds are so complex that we just create each other and so one and so forth. like phisics are made up by us and stuff. personally this isn't what i believe but this is what he says.

haha! That was actually my next post on this topic. Well said too. Sometimes I think we are what we make ourselves, and as a world we are what people believe a common world to be like. But then if we create eachother, there really is only one person then, right? So that can't be right. Unless that one person is the higher being that is dreaming or playing with us, like dolls or something.This is a crazy topic, but thanks for the 2 posts so far. I try talking to people in real life about this, they just laugh at me and say "You are one crazy nut!".

Haha to tell you the truth these are the questions that make my head hurt haha. It is a hard question because people believe in diffrent things and others found ways of whats real and whats not and others think those ways are just fake and you could never find ways of it being real. I say yes because if this is a dream it would be weird for it to be going on for so long and how things make sense like that weather. It also made me think we are real is because we have minds of our own and I dont a dream can be that powerful because my dreams can't do that . It is still weird how luck happens and how you dream of a place before you see it in real life. Its just stuff that has to be answered. It's real and I think that you probably seen the place when you were small and remember a little of it. dreamed it and saw the place again. I also think lucky was probably a glitch in something or maybe a change in the earth like the wind that made something go where u want it to go.

Well, I believe we are real, mainly because if we weren't there would be nothing we could do anyways. I believe that "we are" because God created us, but not necessarily in the literal terms from the book of genesis, but more that he created the big bang and the physics and molded everything we know today into what it is.

Well a while back one of my teachers was telling us about philosophers and their ideas. I don't remember if this was Socrates, Plato, or Aristotle, but it was pretty cool. They said that what we see are just mirror images of each other and that we are not real. I love thinking about questions like that, it really forces me to think and apply. Sometimes I think we exist, sometimes I don't. My ideas just bring out more ideas to prove that my original idea is false. I think we exist, but I would love to take a philosophy class and learn about my thoughts.

We are actually part of something so big we don't even matter. It's called the Universe. Any action we do on this planet is rather insigificant in the grand scheme of things. We are a floating particle, orbiting a star in the wing of a galaxy which has millions, even billions of stars, which is part of possibly billions of galaxies inhabiting an ever-expanding universe that might collapse on itself (so the Universe will always be, but nothing in it is always the same each expansion).

Many people turn to deities to create the universe. However it is possible that the universe was not created by a deity, and unless we could ever figure out what is on the other side of the universe's ever-expanding wall, we will never know how the universe is created and what it truly is. Scientists have theorized that black holes are the beginnings of such spaces. If this is true, everything is recursive and if we broke through the wall, this would lead to a nearly infinite amount of multiverses, possibly paradoxically recursive. 

If anything, your theory is just another incarnation of the ever popular brain in a vat theory that's completely unprovable.

How were living organisms created on earth? Did we just evolve from a group of atoms or something, and work our way from there?

Well, the basic recipe of how life is created:1. You need the proper atomic elements. Hydrogen, Nitrogen, and most importantly Carbon are needed (for carbon based life. We don't know if there are other life forms existing that are based on other elements). Methane can decay into carbon dioxide to help life. It itself is toxic to life forms on Earth.
2. You need these chemicals to be organized on a body which has a sufficient atmosphere of these chemicals. This could be a simple isolated .
3. You need energy to excite the elements to unite in protein chains, the very building blocks of the most basic life.
When all these conditions are met, slowly, but surely, life will slowly form, though whatever life that does form is very primitive - basically virii, which eventually become organed virii called cells, which then organize themselves into colonies to create multicellular life, evolving into simple carnivorous animals feeding on the virii, then plants, then more complex carnivorous animals to eat the plants, et cetera, possibly into creatures like us.

For all we know, we might be living a brainchild of our own minds. If you want to, you can prove that there is no way to show that anything actually exists.

Hmm...interesting yet odd topic...well I guess I'll try to provide some input..

 

Basically if we truly didn't exist then how could we be interacting with each other?

If we didn't exist then how could we learn? I believe that we do exist because if we

didn't then there would be nothing to life except what we already know.

I like questions like this when you must hard think about it. I think we are real but sometimes I think I'm just in dream because many things what I'm doing I just can't explain.Things like: eating,watching tv, writing at this forum :XD: And If I can say when you haven't way in your life what you want to do etc then you are just you are not alive.

Man, all of us, includes this you, are real.If you don't think so, get a needle and stick it in your hand. The needle is real, your hand is real, and the pain... is real! :XD:
