Help With Co.cc Domain

Recommended Posts

I recently signed up for a .co.cc domain, as it's an actual DNS domain and not a redirection service. It looks great but I am having an issue with setting it up, as this warning comes up:

Posted ImageIP Address 208.87.241.124 (ns2.astahost.com) is listed in the Spamhaus Block List.

If you believe, you have received this message in error, please contact customer support click here.

Further looking into the "Spamhaus Block List", I am pointed to this page: http://www.abuseat.org/lookup.cgi?ip=208.87.241.124

Now I'm wondering if there's something that Xisto can do about this? Because I also have the option of setting up the .co.cc domain as a redirect, however I would much prefer it to be the actual domain.

Also on a second note, will I be able to use both the .co.cc domain as well as my Xisto subdomain, or will I only be able to use one?

1) open a ticket at Xisto mentionning the message Posted ImageIP Address 208.87.241.124 (ns2.astahost.com) is listed in the Spamhaus Block List. because it's probably an abuse problem which has already been solved by banning the bad user, but the blacklist has to be cleared.

2) No problem with both a subdomain and a co.cc domain name simultaneously. :)

Ok I will do that... for now I only entered ns1.astahost.com and it seems to work fine, however how do I set it up in cPanel so that the site actually goes to (username).co.cc instead of redirecting it to portal.trap17.com ? I want both to be accessible without redirection, such as portal.trap17.com/sandbox AND (username).co.cc/sandbox should be two separate URIs pointing to the same location, instead of pointing to each other.

username.co.cc is defined at co.cc side.username.astahost.com is defined at Xisto side, nothing more to be done.------EDITIt's exactly as simple as that.Your subdomain is something like yourname.trap17.com, you want to create a website in the sandbox folder, at Xisto side it will be reached as yourname.trap17.com/sandbox and at co.cc side you ask yourthing.co.cc to point to yourname.trap17.com/sandboxIt shoud work fluently.

That's not what I want though. What you're describing seems to be this:(username).co.cc -> Xisto -> portal.trap17.com <- /home/portal/public_html/portal.trap17.com -> Xisto <- /home/portal/public_html/But what I want is(username).co.cc -> Xisto <- /home/portal/public_html/portal.trap17.com -> Xisto <- /home/portal/public_html/I don't want the URL to be redirected...as this will cause the portal.trap17.com URL to be shown in the browser, which is the reason I got the .co.cc domain in the first place, to avoid that URL from being shown.

just note that Google de-indexed .co.cc :( too many spammies

Yes that is right automatically google neither index .co.cc nor .tk domains, but if anyone use google services like analytics, adsense and have good quality of content those are going to be indexed. Just do it practical and verify, not have any proof at present but pretty sure about it.

i have tried a .co.cc domain before and i had some problems with it being down quite a few times... it was one of those free ones on it's early days... i'm sure they are more reliable now but they are exploited by spammers

Last time I used co.cc, Xisto was not shown in the browser, as far as I remember there was an option "hide URL" in the co.cc configuration menu.

Ok I still cannot find the correct option. Do I really need to contact support for this?

On your xisto control panel, add an "add on domain" and make that your co.cc domain.Remember "add on domain" since this will tell the server that this domain is another address for my website. On co.cc service, insert both nameservers given by Xisto, giving only one will mess up your DNS from time to time.It is not required to use 2 nameservers but 2means you have a backup connection. If the co.cc domain service can't find your webhost, then it can't display anything except an error of 404 or sometimes error 500 (server error)
