Blue Screen - irql_not_less_or_equal computer OS Windows problem booting

Recommended Posts

I have had my share of IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL stop messages as well. After complete dis-assembling and part by part assembling, I could pin-point the culprit to be the newly installed memory module. I was aware of the incompatibility of modules with different clock frequencies, so I bought one that matched the existing one. Yet both of them would just not work together. The Stop error used to show up after 4-5 minutes of strenuous activity such as file compression. Although, games didn't trigger this. Both of those RAM chips worked fine when used alone, but together they just seemed incompatible. Surprisingly, the chips are working fine when used in single channel mode.

I had the same Error as all you guys.I just removed a stick of ram and bam it worked. Put the chip back in, didn't work. Tried the same set of actions several more times with the same results. I was at the point where I couldn't even get past welcome screen before BSOD came up. I was also getting a Memory_Management BSOD when I was shutting down (long before I was unable to start.) -reply by eman

For some reason even compatible RAM chips (compatible in the sense of Bus Speed) manufactured by different companies seem to cause this trouble. Recently, I got myself a new 512 MB DDR PC 400 module and it worked like a breeze when I used it along with the existing pairs. The manufacturers have got to look at things such as this. I don't if this problem exists internationaly. Quite a few of my friends here in India have reported the same problem.

Replying to FeedbackerI have this same issue with a DG33 board, I am running a core 2 duo 2.2 and it works great with 1 gig of 800 but everytime I add another gig I get the IRQL error, take it back out and the system stablizes. I have a total of 4 gigs (exact same part #) and can put anyone of them in by themselves and it will run fine, try to add more and it errors out every 15 to 20 minutes with no explaination. I have a systems montitoring tool and all temps are below normal except the ICH temp wich stays aroun 80 with a max of 91. I might try adding another case fan to see if it helps!-reply by altrim

FoxConn 748K7AA with BSOD - IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Blue Screen - irql_not_less_or_equal

Had same problem here, my brothers' pc started acting up, he tried to reload XP but was unable to... Ran MEMTEST diagnostics and found bad RAM, replaced RAM, same thing; removed all cards, drives, cd, floppy, cables, flashed BIOS, no help, couldn't start XP install without getting BSOD or locking up.

Finally found a post elsewhere refering to CPU thermal issues... So I placed a small 6" clip-on fan on chassis blowing 2" away from the CPU while I tried to reload XP... WORKED FINE ! Has been working 4 hours straight so far and completed XP install, upgrades, drivers, etc. Etc.

Next stop is to buy a couple of chassis fans, heat sink compound and a new heat sink/fan combo.

I have small Black bugs eating my computer screen

Blue Screen - irql_not_less_or_equal

I think I have a computer virus (Gulp). Firstly I had loads of random pop-ups appear, mostly advertising porn and then from nowhere, these small black beetle like bug things started crawling on to the screen and kinda eating away at the screen; I even had some dodgy icon appear on my desktop advertising porn and I know I didn't download anything... Help?!?

hard drive hassles?

Blue Screen - irql_not_less_or_equal

I make a lot of electronic music, with a lot of obscure cards, peripherals, etc. As such, I have experienced this problem often.

A lot of times, when I start to get these driver-related bluescreen codes, I decide it's more hassle than it is worth to figure out which device is causing the problem, etc.

The last time this happened to me, I just sent my hard drive to http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ to extract my data, so I could just start with a freshly configured system. It's a pretty good deal. Good support, no hassle, great price (flat rate). I highly recommend that anyone that is experiencing this particular problem get their data recovered from this site.

If you are having above error its not a hardware problem. Its that you are trying to install windows xp with service pack 1. For this board you have to directly install windows xp with service pack 2. The old windows couldnt identify some new hardware in the board. That is the problem. If you dont have Windows XP with service pack 2 heres how to make one.

Replying to FeedbackerI'm convinced the problem I had was resolved by using the generic XP drivers for the bluetooth mouse and the touchpad rather than the ones provided by the manufacturer. Problems were compounded by installing XP SP3. Don't go there!-reply by Stephen Buckland
