AdityaKar 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Spy MouseBefore recalling loudly something confidential, remember that someone could be overhearing you. Here is the Spy Mouse aka CP-1 from Endoacustica. It has an in-built microphone which could hear your conversations easily after plugging it in the USB. However, its recording capabilities turns off if the PC is shut down. This seems to be a prototype as the site suggests that its looks and specs could change.Check out Endoacustica's Website for more details.

yordan 10 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 Now when i buy a new peripheral i will open itI think you don't care when you buy a mouse.I think you should pay attention if you see that the look and feel of your mouse seems to have changed, with a strange transparent blue front part. If you did not buy such a mouse by yourself, you should call the nearest Police officier.
szupie 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 I think you should pay attention if you see that the look and feel of your mouse seems to have changed, with a strange transparent blue front part. If you did not buy such a mouse by yourself, you should call the nearest Police officier. It's actually the transparent blue rear part, yordan. I don't think this was intended to be used for spying. I think it's intended as just a mouse with a microphone in it. Then you don't have to buy an extra microphone. But it'd seem awkward to pick up your mouse and speak into it... And also, your computer still needs a sound recording program in order for the mouse to record you. It's not any different than having a microphone plugged into your computer. Dinesh Samant 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 Its not possible to use this mouse for spying unless there is software to record it and send the recorded files to inteded destination. Is it plug-n-play mouse or requires installing a special software (which also installs such spywares among other things). that may be the catch.Anyway if someone has already bought this thing....just enjoy.!!! You have got free microphone alongwith your mouse. Just figure out how to use it.
Jeigh1405241495 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 It's not like they are trying to hide the fact that it has a mic in it, that is one of the selling points so they'd make sure everyone considering buying it knew about it. Nice big letters on the packaging and whatnot. Personally I'd have litle used for one and would never give up my nice mouse for it, but I'm sure it could be used for some good pranks heh. Sarah81 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 I don't see what use I could possibly have for a mouse with a built-in mike. If I want to record sound that badly, I have a headset. Perhaps it could be used for spying if you didn't have to set this mouse and software up to send the recorded files to another computer. I suppose that parents could use this thing to help figure out what their kids are talking about while they're using the computer ... but there are simpler and less obvious ways of doing that. But no ... I don't think we've quite moved all the way to "Big Brother" phase yet. Not quite. *grins*
yordan 10 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 It's actually the transparent blue rear part, yordanSorry, I name "front" the part facing to me, it's a matter of definition of course.
minnieadkins 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 Probably something for parents to give to their kids to make sure they're not doing "something" they shouldn't. Now it if stored the audio locally, that wouldn't be so bad. If it sends the audio somewhere, then that would be a violoation IMO. Wouldn't be hard to fit a webcam or something in that either. watch out for that next. That's what I thought it would be when i first entered the topic. evion 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 I don't see the "spy" point of it at all, firstly because who in the world would talk while they type? Or talk at all when using the computer except when talking to others, in which case if you're a wanted serial killer you would never use Skype or the such anyway. The only way i can see how it can be used for spying is when you send this mouse to an enemy GUILDMASTER. Yes I meant guildmaster as in games like Guild Wars or WoW that has many GvG battles that often have stuff like teamspeak for speedier response amongst the guildmembers. What I'm saying here is, everytime the guildmaster gives a command, you would know it too if you manage to edit the program so that every sound the guildmaster makes is directed to you. In the end, i still see no use for it unless you're really crazy over beating another guild?
organicbmx 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2006 ive always wondered about the possiblity of people spying on those who have microphones and webcams attached to their computers at all time. call it paranoia but i'm sure it's possible. it would be quite a task but if you choose the highest selling webcam then wrote spy ware that would record at all times and tranmit to a remote computer and then try some hit and miss infection. it is certainly technically possible. just totally pointless.on the other hand the secret services could make a mouse this a microphone and a small flash hd and then it could record 24/7 and tranmit and charge when the pc was on. Jeigh1405241495 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2006 That is to imply we don't all have tracking and recorded devices implanted beneath our skin upon birth....
Sondar 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Thats pretty cool. I like that alot! Shame its still a prototype but hey its seems a very interesting idea.On the other hand though it is a clear invasion of privacy.....
