Free Domain Registration!

Recommended Posts

I’ve been looking at all the sites that was suggested and here is what I found:

https://www.eurodns.com/ – I didn’t find any free domain names on here, the setup might be free but they still charge you annual fee

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ – It is free for one year and then afterwards they charge you a fee, but how much wasn’t mentioned.

http://www.freedomain.pro/ – True as promised, they don’t force advertising on your but do required an small link back.

http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ – requires 75 posts for a domain name per year. Which means that for you to keep the domain name a year later you have to post 75 more., and their popups are extremely annoying.

http://www.cabspace.com/ – simply a hosting service, no domain names. They do have subdomains though, I couldn’t tell if they have mysql and php.

http://www.smardots.com/ – seem ok, but what did you mean when you said it doesn’t offer dns?

I used to use uni.cc it was my first dns domain and was for free a lot of years ago, I had maybe 4 domains, some people registered even more, but I didn't really need more, I don't know how does uni.cc get along now.. There used to be services offering free dot com net or org domains, but a lot of them was fake or just scam to get visitors and some profit, but for some time now there are quite some services which really works and offers you free domain names, but usually you need to participate on the forums. I think a lot of whom knows about hostbidder dot com on Xisto forums, I have got two domain names from their service and all I needed to do is participate with non spam posts on the forum, its quite easy in my opinion. Posting on different forums/categories you get different sum of points. :(

I don't think iPower is that reliable and I believe that some functions are blocked. After all, what can you expect for 3 dollars? The best there is, in my opinion, is GoDaddy. It's true that you pay 11 dollars for one year, but it's well worth it.

It's good yes, as they are true to their statements. The only problem is: they never seem to be open to giving people new domains. Often times when I try, co.nr just tells me that registration is currently closed and they tell me to check their updates and come back in a few weeks (or sometimes a few months). I come back a few weeks later, and they have the same problem. I'm sure it is possible to register a domain, as I've seen it done before, but it just seems kind of hard.

Yep, popups are extremely annoying. IMO, it's better to stick to a subdomain than to move to a domain with tons of pop up ads. It'll look equally, if not more, unprofessional. People will simply hate you. :3
EDIT: I think I'll be trying out hostbidder.com. Seems interesting.

I dont have much experience in these "free" domain names but I have had about 4 or 5 different .co.nr domain names over the last 4 years orso..I have never had a problem with the sign in to make a new name..any adverts or popups aprearing on my sites. They ask you for a link back to them and supply you with a small gif 88X31 for your "first" page of the site..I have been using a page as the Index with a welcome banner for the site and the small gif at the bottom of the page that you have to scroll to see and they seem happy with that..so the link is no where on your site apart from the Welcome screen...seems fair enough to me!!I would take a look and register your name at .co.nr ..hey if you dont use it you can just point ppl to a different link to get to your site if you dont have your own domain name registered..

Try //link dead // They are fully free, no ads, no banner, no limitation on number of hits, and offer a free domain naime. Be careful, they offer the domain but they offer no hosting, your files still have to be at Xisto.

Thanks. I visited dotworld and create my own domain as
http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ format

And a good format for personal pages.

seems to be temporary free, have a look at the terms of service :
http://dashworlds.com/html/mce.html_

5. PAYMENT
5.1. In the case of free domains the Customer will not be obliged to pay the Fees to the Company for the period contracted by the Customer from the date when the Customers application has been accepted and payment will only be due upon renewal as provided for in Clause 6 herein.

6. RENEWALS

6.1. The Customer shall pay the Fees in respect to the renewal to the Company on or before the Renewal Date in respect of all domains

If I understand clearly, they offer the first year, and you will have to pay the renewal every year.

Also have a look here : http://dashworlds.com/html/mce.html

17 - I still cannot see my domain, even after this period!
First, please check if you can see the test page http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/. If not please install the dotWORLDS plugin (click on the Activate link on our Home page).

If you can see http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, then please check to make sure that in your dotWORLDS Control Panel you have: 1) configured your domain, checking the spelling of the URL for forwarding, which is a common mistake (see above), 2) checked that the URL you are forwarding to is working properly, 3) If your ISP does not have access to dotWORLDS Private Network you will need to install the dotWORLDS plugin (click on the Activate link on our home page), and 4) if you are hosting you own site or have redirected your domain to a DNS server, please ensure that your DNS server is correctly configured

With my browser I cannot see the test page http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ , so people with the same browser will not see my domain mybame.myextension. And I cannot decently ask everybody who wants to see my site to download the dotWORLDS plugin.
If I want to be the only guy able to go to my website, I put it on my own PC, no need to put it on Inernet.
