Nybb 0 Report post Posted August 21, 2005 Honestly, if you want to be screwed over time and again, ezboard is the way to go. The site got hacked, bugs are walking all over the place and the staff are a bunch of lazy people. If you ask the ezboard Staff a question, they'll be like "too F&$$ing bad, CASE CLOSED." They really do give such answers, and if you don't believe me then look at what some people had to say: http://www.yuku.com/ If you wanted a true testimony of how fradulent ezboard is, you're too late. Visit: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ In conclusion, do you want to know what ezboard really thinks of you as? Money first...

Hercco 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 I will never ever again sign up for a "free messageboard" account. They all simply suck. And I realyl rarely bother even posting on such forums. They tend to be slowing and rarely have good discussion going on.
saxsux 0 Report post Posted August 22, 2005 I can't stand ezboard. I signed up with them a while ago, and thier service is soooooo slow, it's unbelievable. I don't know how they expect people to accept and put up with the unbelievably huge adverts that they have stupidity to plaster everywhere. Seriously, ezboard suck. Proboards are better, but the best option (by far) is to host your own forums. You get much more control over them.

They are usually reliable, and both have good staff. I have also heard good things about Simple Machines Forum.

I have also heard good things about Simple Machines Forum. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Same here. You can't count out free forums as being bad. I have used Simple Machines Forum for a while now and have grown to love it. Security is great and the speed is fantastic (even compared to some of the paid ones). I have to say though that ezboard is definitely not for me. I recall trying to create one of these myself and either I was too dumb to understand how it works or they are just making it more complicated for everyone. I think they want a local and global account also. Never quite got that either.

imjjss 0 Report post Posted June 9, 2011 Why use hosted message board while you have your own web space? Or maybe I understand this service wrongly, but when I click the link you posted above, it timed out. Seems it's correct-- not a good service. If I understand correctly, a hosted message board is a service to host your forum. The Forum is yours and not at your web place. That's gonna be really slow.Even if it's on a single website with Forum, if there are many members posting, it would be a problem for a shared hosting account. Normally when members grow more, you'll need to move to VPS hosting for more resources and speed. Now, there are more than one forum hosted on the ezboard, you can imagine how difficult it tries to carry all.Even if they update their server capacity to allow fast speed and high quality service, I wouldn't host my forum there. Because... if the forum grows nicely and becomes successful, it will be a fortune! You can do more with members than just gaining advertisement income. If the forum is hosted outside your web space, you can't even do little customization.
mahesh2k 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2011 Don't get me wrong but i have noticed similar issues not only with EZBoard but also with other sites that offer free IPB hosting, or VBulletin hosting. So this is not just issue of ezboard. I think this is issue of sites which are having lots of resller packages and are hosting such things. For example, they are offering this service in exchange for the ads or space or paid package. So i think that is reasoable. But if you're looking for reliable service then it helps if you get paid package from another host. Because that is the only they're going to answer your support calls. EZboard or any free hosting site is not responsible for your data or any loss because it is free service and it is mentioned in their TOS. You do read TOS right ?That aside, you'll stil find good hosting with IPB hosters who host IPB forums for free. But they add lots of links and ads on your site. You may find that annoying and may even left the site because it is not user friendly at all. This is my observation so far in the free forum or hosting arena. You have to be very careful as well because it takes time to get some members posting and if you don't work on good hosting then chances of losing the money and members from forum is more. Plus free forum hosting hardly gurantees anything. So avoid using such services and start paying for your hosting, that's the only way to get good support.
