Houdini 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2005 Do your self a big favor and get XAMPP HERE and forget trying to set up an Apache to get along with PHP and MySQL. I set one up a couple of years ago and even had manuals on how to do it and still had trouble. You have to install the server first then MySQL then PHP so that MySQL knows where to find it, then you have to configure the Apache server to properly work with the two of them. With XAMPP you just download the version for your platform (Windows in your case), unzip it then click the install link and it will set up a properly configured server in less than 5 minu reador you to add your files to.Believe me there is no easier way to solve your problem than using a product that has the latest versions of all the above mentioned softwar and more if you want it. It is well worth the download even though it is large. I have been using it since 2003 and wouldn't even think of setting of an Apache with PHP and MySQL again...it's just too much trouble even with assistance. rapco 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2005 Well, my personal favorite is XSAS... why, vey simple, it doesn't need to be installed, as a matter of fact, it doen't intall anything!!!!!!!!It's not to haevy for downloading... it includes the latest version of XOOPS, (you can erase it if you want)As any other server for the pc, it has compatibility issues with IPS.. ISP .. windows xp server, i don0t remeber the letters right now....You can download it from http://xsas.sourceforge.net/The great thing of not having to install it, is that an apache server won't be running unnecesarily (sorry, i don't know how to write this word, i'm a spanish speaker)... u don't have to waste memmory on it... rapco 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2005 imajin8shun, did u read my post (the one aboput XSAS)???...Anyway, you should transfer your file to the html (or www) folder, that way when you open an IE window (or firefoz, netscape, etc..) you put LOCALHOST/ and you'll be able to see your php files runningI don't know how xampp works.. i would recommend XSAS either way! X-Wes 0 Report post Posted July 6, 2005 Wow, this is really amazing. I've been trying to move to Linux partially because installing Apache is a fun adventure on Windows, but this really looks promising. This will probably be useful for (if nothing else) installing and working backwards to see what things I've done wrong with trying to get a fully-functioning Apache installation on Windows in the past. Thanks in advance, Houdini!

Thanks</p> - <em>DILBAG SING</em> Read Houdini's answer at the beginning of this topic : simply install XAMPP.You can even avoid the installation : use the standalone version of XAMPP you can find here : http://portableapps.com/apps/development/xampp AMPP is an integrated server package of Apache, mySQL, PHP and Perl (the AMPP in XAMPP) that all run from a removable drive. Everything is pre-configured and ready to go just by unzipping or installing it.And it's really as simple as they say : you download it, unzip it somewhere on your hard disk, run it, and you have a working apache, php and mysql server. iGuest 3 Report post Posted April 24, 2011 WAMP/XAMP and DynDNSHow To Make A Test Server On Xp? Install WAMP/XAMP following the instructions and then link it to DynDNS for a free subdomain name to make it accessible. You can see instructions for that at netathome.Wordpress.Com. You don`t have to link a domain if it is going to be for local testing purposes only.-reply by Smoth3r3d
