sheepdog 10 Report post Posted April 3, 2013 Where the heck is everybody? I've been in here every day for the last 4 or 5 days and absolutely nothing is going on. No new posts, no new people signing up, no good arguments going, nothing, just nothing at all. I am rapidly running out of ideas for new subjects, and can't get anybody to even start a discusions with any of the one's I've tried to start. Man, I have never seen it this dead here. Come on people, limber up those typing fingers and start a conversation.
mrdee 1 Report post Posted April 3, 2013 Well, Sheepdog, maybe most of them are suffering from indigestion after eating all their Easter eggs. However, you are right. It has been quiet here lately, some people might be on holiday over the Easter holiday too, but, as i have experienced with this forum, there are times when it is very quiet, and then it is usually followed by a period when you would not know where to look first. The best thing is to give it some time, but, as you mention, when it is silent in here, it is difficult to get some ideas or inspiration to post here, isn't it?However, I am confident that things will pick up soon. sheepdog 10 Report post Posted April 3, 2013 I sure hope you are right and things pick up soon. It's so hard to keep up hosting credits when it's like this.

sheepdog 10 Report post Posted April 4, 2013 Well, glad you stopped by to visit. You should do that more often! My hosting credits still haven't updated, I don't have a clue as to where I stand. Any ideas on why my cents aren't updating and when will it be fixed? It's only a few more days till the charges for my web hosting comes due, and I have no clue as to if I have caught up enough yet with my posts of the last 4 or 5 days. comp2 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 I remember back in lets seen 2004ish 2005 the forums use to boom. I would really like to see it get that way again. I guess people forgot the amazing advantage of post to host. I came back to the forums because I am tired of paying for hosting again and I am trying to save money. k_nitin_r 8 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 Hi!I've been around, logging into the forum every once in a while to update my status. I just got the approval on my research proposal after 6 long months so this week has been a pretty busy week. Also, with the sand storms, I've been having to clean up more often to keep my place tidy so that one other thing I've been occupied with. Oh, and the sand storms are nothing like they portray in Mission Impossible. Tom Cruise must have accidentally stepped onto the set of The Mummy to have the sort of sand storm that he was pictured in.
sheepdog 10 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 Well congradulations on your reasearch project approval. Just what are you going to be reasearching, or can you tell us? Funny, I was just in a sand storm myself last week, as we were going back and forth from California to Mexico. We have to drive threw the Dunes to get to Algadones, Mexico. Boy I can tell you, a fancy paint job on a car would not last long if you had to drive threw that area very often! It would get sand blasted right off! k_nitin_r 8 Report post Posted April 7, 2013 My research is on software adoption within organizations. I intend to look into the organizational factors that affect the decision to use information system. I suppose my research would take at least two more months before I can form a draft that I can hand in to university, though the sooner the better.Today we had yet another sand storm in Dubai. Everything outdoors was looking yellowish, like when applying the Sepia filter on a camera or with Photoshop and you see all photographs the way they had those vintage photographs taken. To me, it looked cloudy except with a different color, and although there was more than a slight breeze, there wasn't any visible sand being blown around. There was what seemed like a cloud burst because there was a sudden incidence of rain that lasted under five minutes and the moisture caused the sand to stick to wet surfaces. mrdee 1 Report post Posted April 18, 2013 I must admit now that the quiet times seem to hang around longer than I had anticipated.Like I posted before, it sometimes used to go up and down here, and I also thought that people might have been on holiday over Easter or something, but things do not seem to have improved much.As comp2 stated "this forum used to be booming", well there is indeed not such a lot left of that, it seems, also, the place used to be full of techie wizards, you only had to post about a certain technical problem you had, and five minutes later you would have received four to five replies, and replies that were really relevant to the solution of your problem.Unfortunately, those things seem to belong to a very grey past too.We can only live in hope that the forum will be restored into its former glory one day. comp2 1 Report post Posted April 18, 2013 Are the forums on life support?Did social networking kill Xisto? We no longer have to search the web and post in forums for answers. Simply post on Facebook and someone somewhere will know the answer. I hope that the forums start to grow again and the forums are saved. I have invited a few tech friends and hope they join. I just wish myCENTS would update more often.
sheepdog 10 Report post Posted April 20, 2013 Yes, I as a complete computer dummy I definatly really miss the quick and efficient help I could get here when I ran into a computer problem, like I do really often. Always got really good advice here and quick too. I don't know if Facebook played a part or not. FB doesn't give you free web hosting, and what free stuff it has, like the games, try their dead level best to get you to pay something to play them, short game times and then asking you to buy energy and that sort of stuff. I personally don't see everbody's fasination with FB.
mrdee 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 I don't know whether it has a lot to do with Facebook or not.(By the way, Xisto and Xisto have a Facebook account themselves). However, what I do know is that it was time there was another MyCents update, it looks like my total has remained unaltered for some time, even since before I posted some new content.I am right about that, aren't I? Surely even I cannot be THAT confused.
sheepdog 10 Report post Posted May 1, 2013 No, your not confused at all. When I started this thread I posted for 5 consecutive days with out a my sense update. It was really worrying me because I had no idea if I was close to having enough for that months hosting. And now here we are again, a week away from my date that they money has to be in the account to pay the hosting bill and the credits are not updating in any matter with any rhym or reason. I got an email the other day that I had been credited $1 but when I got the email I hadn't posted for quite a few days. I have no idea what is going on. It sure makes things hard to manage. Yeah, with the small number of people we have posting now, I don't think the system should have an issue with "rolling updates" (updates as soon as a post is made). I could understand there being a problem if there's thousands/tens of thousands of people posting at once, but the site has been dead/dying for quite a while, so the number of posts is small as it is.
