The Demise Of Knowledge Sutra what knowledge?

Recommended Posts

You know this forum will never be active as the past unless we all post new articles everyday.Posting new articles not replies is the key to reactivate this forum again.I have registered to this forum to gain webhosting and domains , and in the begining it was really simple , so people have to create threat and you just have to answer or reply , and people are going to be lazy so articles get desappearing from a day to another and now we can see at most 3 articles per day!!If you want this forum to continue then you just need to post 10 posts a day like suggested before.

yeah, i agree with you nirvaman, posting new threads is better than just replying to others. but still it is better than nothing, also you know that not always we have new ideas to be posted or have the time to post new threads. so, replying to other's topics, chatting in the chatroom or even posting something in the status update tab is a step forward. and i must say, as i can see you are doing a good job in here :) good luck and thank you for your effort.

i agree too, posting new threads is better than replying and another important thing, there are many topics in the forum which are very old and replying them is not a nice thing to do so you can create a topic related to your interesting title which you have saw in an old topic and prevent from digging those old topics. actually i have made some threads recently and i'm thinking of make some other new topics today or tomorrow but definitely an administrator is needed for getting this forum more active because they can provide some features for those who are creating threads so people will encourage to create new topics too.Creating more topics mostly in the life talk section is not a hard work at all and everyone can speak about her / his daily life there so it is very easy to create a topic but as i am a game worm so i prefer to create topics in game section (which i have did some) so you can create some in your interested section or subcategory. Some days here is really a dead place and you can not find anyone online or number of post are below 3 for the whole forum but in christmas here was more crowded because most of users were free so they came and post something. creating a topic needs a lot more time than posting a reply so it is not very easy to create a topic every day, but we can create one every week and so new members will find more topics for replying in it and i hope this procedure can bring this forum up again. actually i afraid of creating a topic which gets no reply, this is the worst case because you will face many topics with only one post in it which will not help getting forum more active and only can lead to many topics and no replies. so i suggest everyone to post a reply in those topics and try to keep some threads active so the creator of topic will be more happy and probably will create some other topics too.by the way i found that for me when i come to forum the first thing i want to see is "Today's Top Posters" and when i see there is less than 3 people in that list i really get sad, so i hope someday came to forum and when i scroll down to the bottom of page i do not see only my name as current active member and we rarely see more than one person being online at the same time.

Whatever way you look at it, the site is at an all time low, I've been here 3 years now, and when I was first here there was never not a mod online, there was always new topics, getting credits was simple because there was always something you could reply to, these days it's just dead, I used to enjoy just talking to people in the chat room, but I sit in there for a while and no one comes along so I leave, I know I've never been one for extended stays but I'm not a forum person normally, but this place was a community. Now it's just a forum. I hope Opaque will turn this place around because it needs it, I proffered the old forum before the update, everything was easier, it was just a much better place to be.

That is exactly what I mean, Kobra500.I am in my 4th year here now (I have been here since 2007), and in the beginning, if you had a problem and needed help, this was the place to be.And, while there are stil some competent people here, people who:a) Know what they're doing and know what they're talking aboutB) People who are still willing to help others,(After all, I sometimes get some really useful answers to things that I post, but always from the same 3 or 4 people).I remember the times, when I posted something, I practically had to ignore some posts (do not take this literally, please :) ), because I kept getting one reply after another, and all useful replies by competent and helpful people.Something that NEVRE used to happen in the past was something that has happened to me 3 or 4 times in the past few months: posts that remained unanswered.THAT is frustrating, like I said, in the past, contrary to now, where there are only a handful left, this place used to crawl with people who were all specialised in one thing or another. These days, instead of even getting a stupid or irrelevant reply to a post, you get no reply at all, this would NEVER have happened in the Xisto days.Even if someone was not sure how to help you with a problem, they always put you into the right direction by posting a link to a place (or another thread) where you could find the assistance you were looking for.I must say, it gets really frustrating at times, because, as the name implies, the first thing I use this place for (apart from gathering credits) is to gather knowledge and learn about new things, and get help with certain problems I might have.If we could only turn the clock back a year or two or so.

I agree. This place is dead, or almost dead. I really liked the hosting too, it seemed fast, and nice, and being able to post-to-host. But I can't deal with the ownership problems anymore. Way too many of them, and they don't seem to know how to set up the apache server correctly. Not to mention there's only one guy answering tickets, which can take a week. He was very nice, but no one wants to waste this much of their lifejust on server crap. I've never, ever had ownership problems with any other host, including many free hosts. First time I've run into it, and can't solve the riddle. It's just Joomla for crying out loud! lol. Yea, I tried this out for a week, but it was a pretty large waste of my time. Onto something bigger and better!

Xisto/Xisto is not falling anywhere. This site runs mainly due to our guests and a BIG part of GUEST module was lost. I have now re-created that module and I expect traffic to come back to normal in the next 2 months. This way I can attract free web hosting members. Only with new members coming into the forums, this place will become automatically lively.

Considering BuffaloHelp, I understand he has been a bit busy, but I am sure he will soon find time and be back at the forums.

I expect the traffic to the forums to rise soon. The only thing remaining is to attract new members :) And hope the old members drop by soon due to low mycents.

so how do you plan on attracting new members after pissing off the old members. magic? what secret do you have under your sleeve. you lost half the old members when you changed your domain name, and you lost another half after the forum went spammy and unmanned except for 1 or two mods even THAT wasn't enough for all the spam we were getting.

i see you've been busy lately. that's a good thing. i hope it is not just a phase but i don't think you will be getting back a lot of your old members. i hope i am wrong. i would just concentrate on getting new ones in what i hope is a new and improved forum in all areas of business and common sense and caring enough about the comunity that it doesn't get abandoned again

I find it interesting that this topic string has popped up again,,,,given that I have a vested interest in Xisto - Web Hosting, and have been an active contributor to the forum both in the last 12 months and 3 years ago.... I can understand Anwii's frustrations with the drop in activity and the ongoing battle with Spam.It will be a definate loss to this community if many more of the active contributors leave for greener pastures, however I find it very difficult to continue to contribute to a site that last week had no activity for 3 days... Durring this same time I was despirately trying to resolve clients issues with hosting and yet again there was no support at all...Its just such a real shame as I've send many clients to host here, and as of yesterday, 3 of my clients are no looking to relocate to more sustainable hosting solutions.... A real shame, i was a member or Xisto and am hosted here and in Xisto - Web Hosting, unfortunately when it comes to client support, i can no longer see a reason why I should endure the greif that hosting with xisto continues to offer... Hopefully things settle down and return to the service levels I expect and was recieve over the past few years, becuase if they fail to improve I will have no other option than to find a hosting solution that does not cause me or my clients any issues.Lets hope that things look up for xisto, KS and Trap members... It would be a shame to loose such a great community....cheersJase

I am afraid I have to agree.I, too, have spent nearly four happy years here, with great hosting features, a great uptime of the sites, great and helpful support and more. Then, about this forum itself, it used to be full of competent, knowledgeable and helpful people, and, more often than not, if you ever posted about a technical problem here, chances were you had a bunch of answers in less than half an hour. Now, most of those people do not seem to be here anymore, spam is growing quickly here, the forum is incredibly slow to load and as fr the Xisto hosting, I have had two tickets where I had a reply the senior management was looking into my problem, and after weeks of that, the problems are still there. No, things have defnitely changed here and at Xisto, and certainly not for the better.
