New Wordpress Blog Retrofitted Into Existing Design

Recommended Posts

ooops! no edit button...i also wanted to add(which you already know, i hope) is that you have two index files. personally, for seo, i would move your index.html file to an about me page and use your php index file for your main page. that way, your main page can always be updated. actually, i would create your about me page but have a different page for a more detailed services and pricing. but that's just me....the way you have your site set up now is once you leave your index.php page, there is no links to return you back

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. After contacting xisto they suggested i put the word press install in a subdirectory, after doing that it began working as expected! -

Regarding softaculous and fantistico, apparently that isnt available for windows hosting which im actually on. Instead you get "easy apps" which allows you to create a database config file for your chosen CMS. Thank you all for your suggestions, its been an effective learning experience me going through this process the last few days (most of my training was in the web 1.0 era).

Ill implement your suggestions and tell you how i go, thanks.

As i posted earlier about XML sitemaps. Here is the link for the XML sitemaps.

https://wordpress.org/plugins/standard-xml-sitemap/

It is simple XML sitemap and it is generated on request basis. So there are no files like sitemap.xml actually created on your public_html or respective directory. When any SE query for the sitemap then this plugin activates and responds by returning XML sitemap.

Hey all, I've updated the site and it can be found at the same location - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Im still yet to look at peoples suggestions till xisto gives an indication why my .htacess file is having no affect on the site.

However there is something else i can pick your brains for in the meantime. Basicly in the wp admin panel ive installed a plug-in that redirects a "blog" link away from the blog page to - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (The newly created page was a place holder)

Its a basic redirect that i needed because i constructed my menu links through the "new pages" on the admin panel. How would that go with SEO? For all other links e.g home, portfolio, tutorials etc... they will all link to proper pages determined by permalinks. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/

Also another thing when i edit my pre-existing pages in word press to contain the same content as the static html pages, do i add most information into those pages leaving out the meta data? If so does word press handle keywords adequately by itself?

Thanks.
