Catering Food Project Learn to make American Hamburgers Turkey tortilla wrap

Hi guys,

 

Well I am now 14 and doing GCSE. I selected Catering as one of my options to follow on with.

 

Task: Create to Simple (Not to complicated not to simple) Snacks in under one hour.

 

I Decided to Make American Hamburgers & Turkey Tortilla Wrap.

 

Here is how to make American Hamburgers:

 

American Hamburgers

Ingredients:

 

1 Burger Roll

 

? Red onion

 

? Small Garlic Clove

 

? Teaspoon Mixed hebs

 

1 egg yolk

 

40g Steak mince (Peper & Salt)

 

 

Method:

 

1) Chop the onion finely + Place in mixing bowl.

 

2) Add crushed Garlic & Pepper + Salt to taste.

 

3) Add the mince + Mixed Herbs. (Mix well!)

 

4) Add the yolk of the egg + Bind together using fingers.

 

5) Using your hands make a hamburger shape above 2cm Thick.

 

6) Cook under the grill on a med-high grill for 4/6 minutes each side then remove from heat.

 

7) Toast the roll inside only.

 

8) Put together + Arrange, Salad, mayonnaise etc for filling.

 

 

 

 

Here is how to make Turkey Tortilla Wrap:

 

 

 

 

Turkey Tortilla Wrap

 

Ingredients:

 

1 Tortilla

 

8oz Turkey Stir-fry Strips.

 

All to taste= Mixed Salad, Small Tomatoes, Mayo, Chopped Chives.

 

Method:

 

1) In a large pan shallow fry the turkey 7-8 minutes until cooked remove from heat.

 

2) Microwave tortilla for 10 seconds 650w, 8 seconds 750w or 6seconds 850w.

 

3) Mix salad leaf, chopped tomatoes, finely chopped onion.

 

4) Add the Filling to the centre of the tortilla down the middle. DONT FORGET THE MAYO. Roll into a wrap & Cut in half.

 

5) Present on a plate with Garnish.

You forgot Breadcrumbs as part of the Hamburger. Mix them into the meat/spices before you form the burger. They absorb some of the Fat and really add to the flavour of the Burger.And no need to separate the yolk. Use the whole egg. It acts as a 'binding agent' or glue to the whole shebang.

Well I started cooking this yesterday and my food teacher was very impressed and got top marks for both. This includes Taste, Presentation & How smart etc you are. I was very proud :lol:.
