Can't We Live Without Money?

Yes, we can live without money. Money is nothing more than a medium of trade, and trade is not necessary in a society that is so technologically advanced that it can produce more than needed for everyone. If there is a large surplus of goods and services, money is worthless. If everyone has rocks, what would be the purpose of money? If everyone had 10,000 pounds of food given to them each week, why would money be needed to buy food. Food would be monetarily worthless. So in a sense, in order to eliminate the use of money, all products must be in such a surplus that they are worthless in regards to trade. If everyone has 10 cars, why would someone need to buy another? If someone have a house or two, what would be the point of buying a 3rd house? The industrial revolution really set the stage and revolutionized industry to the point in which more could be produced then needed. Technology has only grown over the last few centuries, and now it is even more true. In fact, companies intentionally keep their production down in order to keep the prices stable. In fact, the government actually pay people to not grow certain foods because it could effect the worth of that food. When you live in a world where people in third world countries are starving, but yet governments pay people NOT to grow food, you know that you live in a very backwards world. You live in a world that is similar to the mind of a sociopath, and that sociopath will do anything in the name of profit.In this time in age, everyone could be given any and everything they need, and we have the resources and technology to get that done. And as machines take over the role that humans use to play, we will eventually be able to do with with minimum work. We continue to see machines replace humans in every aspect of our economy, and that is only a bad thing because we live in a profit based society. It is not a society that says that the machines can do the work and the production can be split among the population, but it says let the machines do the work and we will sell the production despite that fact that due to the machines you are not out of work and can not afford to buy anything. I am not saying that a socialistic society would be better than a capitalistic society, as I don't really believe that, but I do believe that a socialistic society with no money is possible if the right technology and resources are available. In the United States at least, those resources are available or at least more of the resources needed.

i don;t think we can live without money...at some point somewhere we will require money...we may try not to use money in most of the activities and trading ..We can use technology for fulfilling our requirements but i think some situations need expert advice and to hire that we will always need money..i think there won't be some other means of trading it ..For example..if i want to hire a lawyer...we will require money...i can't hire a lawyer with some other trade system always..and i will need him at any cost for this needs expert advice...If i fall ill i will need a doctor...and i will need money for that..So at some point ..in some situation we will need money...

money is just a printed paper that we use things . if there was no money like many times ago we should trade things in this situation every family have to produce something to trade with other requirements and the life will be very hard because there is many things that one family or person can't build. think about buying eggs when you don't have money you should trade somethings for eggs (like milk) but with this modern society right now you cant do this type of trades. you can't build a laptop on your own so you should participate with some other groups and this is when money comes to the scene. so i think today we can't live without money.

I do not believe that we can live without money. Without money, you cannot purchase things like food that you need to survive. If you do not have money, then you will find that it is ridiculously hard to find food somewhere else. Most of our food doesn't come free and we work for it.

I have a reason to believe that money is a necessary evil. If people can't used them right, by hoarding, using money as power or to bribe and stuff like that, then it shouldn't exist. Yet, it has already happened, especially in this US economy. Corporations are draining the poor poorer at almost every dime, eliminated necessary programs the low income needed to better themselves out of poverty and trick us into believing we are worthless and can't teach our children properly, although it isn't necessarily true. They are constantly evading taxes through loopholes, which causes our government to lose money, especially here in my state, California, which used to be one of the top educated states before the 70's. Now we're ranking at near bottom, which is very depressing. You can blame it all on immigration, legal and illegal, but I don't think that's the case. A top educated state should be able to accommodate those whose English isn't their first language. An ideal educated state should encourage the learning of a second or third language from early on, such as language immersion programs.Besides, we don't need lots of money to buy top-of-the-line products. Even top-of-the-line/state-of-the-art products eventually become average and average products still works just as good, as long as quality, not quantity, is insured. These days, it just feels like quantity is the norm. Almost no company is making the effort to quality products, and it's becoming frustrating. Instead, they just force us to buy more every time something breaks down and it is unrepairable after a few times of usage. Greed is evil.If money is used right, it can be used to help relief in disaster-struck areas or under-developed countries or fund a research that helps humanity.Sorry for my rant.

hmmm my views on this subject go deep, but simply put, i believe money is just something to barter with. although we have been so accustomed to bartering with money, that money has become a distraction to a "perfect" world. do we need money? the answer simply put is a big NO! we don't need money but people seem to think they do.....so much so that it has promoted greed. money does have it's advantages, but in the end, it is a destroyer of true wealth that has nothing to do with personal possessions. money is a distraction to the things most important.money just makes it easier to barter...... while the easy way is usually not the best way....

You're smart, yes i do believe we can live without money.If only all the people of the world start to ponder what are the things that really matter in life.If only people could recognize that all we need in life is faith, the basic necessities of life and love.If only people can trust each others completely to be kind and loving.If only people can be less greedy and selfish.The problem is not with the money, it is human nature.Even if humanity managed to abolish the monetary system somehow, new form of exchange systems will start springing out eventually as long as fear, greed and selfishness exist in us.I think we're just not ready.

Until today I had no reason to use The Vent but today's different. It's cool to have a place like this to purge out all feelings in as many words as possible

 

I'm not here today just because I'm angry at someone/something. I'm not even irritated. Well, maybe a little. I was daydreaming some time ago and began to think about the world and everything else. Three millenniums ago I don't know how many people existed on earth, but I can confidently say that their lives were far better than ours. Yes they fought wars and all but on the whole they were peaceful. And that was because they didn't live for money, as we do today.

 

If I'm not wrong, the barter system was the first method which is similar to the currency system we use today. If someone wanted something, they had to exchange it with something they already had. That was the barter system.Of course due to the many loopholes, it died soon. Then slowly, coins and then paper money were introduced and the greed for money began to torment people.

 

I'm no economist to know what will happen if all the money were to disappear from the world and people began to live without using money, but I think it is due to money that happiness is disappearing from everyone's lives. The rich people are unhappy because they're always greedy for more money and are worried about their security. The poor are unhappy because they barely get enough money to eat three meals a day. And the middle-class are unhappy because although they have the capacity to spend their money, they're afraid they might not have enough money later.

 

It's due to the single thing called money that there is so much unhappiness in the world. Seriously, can't we live without it?! It's driving everyone crazy. Just because someone has more stacks of paper that he calls money, he thinks he is greater than those who don't have those many papers! For getting the basic necessities of life this paper comes in the way. Can't we just throw away these papers?

 

Some people may say that money is the goal towards which everyone works for in life. It is such a bizarre goal! Why not have something more sensible? Why become machines who always look for more and more money, forgetting to enjoy life?

 

Well I've asked a lot of questions but sadly I don't know answers to most of them. As I said before, I really can't imagine what would happen if the currency system were to suddenly be removed from the world. There would be utter chaos, I guess. So maybe we need some kind of miracle where all the money should go, but also people should realise that they can live without money, by helping each other get what they want.

 

Oh well, that's just my thought. I know there are many loopholes in this as well, but I'll be waiting for your opinions.

 

If we didn't use money, we would always use another form of currency. Before money, people used items to barter. Salt, sugar, Jewelry, metal, food. There was always something.

I would say that it would be much harder to survive like that, because it turns everyone into a haggler.

 

The biggest thing to worry about, money wise, is just make sure you have enough for you. Don't worry about the rest of the world, that will only drag you down. Be happy with what

you have, and the fact that we actually have it better than many people word wide. If the currency system was removed, then the same companies that have all the money today, will still

have it. They have products that people want, and people will offer them anything for it.
