Question - Can You Host A Forum On Trap17 Hosting? If yes, is loading fast?

Recommended Posts

Well the topic and description is self explanatory. I'm curious as to whether I can host a forum on Xisto, and if the answer is yes will the hosting be effective enough keep loading times very minimal? I've read around that you should try find a good host when starting your own forum and free hosting sites probably won't be effective in the long run as you get more traffic... is this true?

The answer is YES. You can host a forum with your hosting account. But all the hosting rules apply here too. As far as I know it should not contain illegal content like warez etc...And hosting here is also fastest. And you should remember that you are getting paid hosing service for free here. This is not like other free hosting services. All the packages you ordered at Xisto - Support are paid ones, and you are paying your money with your myCents. So this is professional hosting. If your forum gets good traffic in future, you can shift to a VPS package or some other big package from logical plans. Don't worry about it. And you'll get good support too. All the best.... :P

As Xpress states, the Hosting Rules allow Forums, and the Acceptable Use Policy applies to them. No Warez, Porn, etc.

Here is a link to a Demo Forum I have on my account. Not much content as I use it to test Mods and stuff, but check out the page loading times on it. An AEF 1.08 version.

You certainly can! I think all current forums will work on Xisto hosting. If you want to check, here are the important stats for Xisto's servers:

Apache version 1.3.41 (Unix)PHP version 5.2.5
MySQL version 5.0.67-community

The hosting is top of the range, and should be fast enough for any forum. If you want an example, click here. That is a phpBB3 forum running on Xisto's server and in current usage.

Yes. Most free hosts are of very poor quality. You don't notice it so much when you're just starting out, but as your forum grows, you notice it getting slower and slower, and you may even run out of space. As xpress said, at Xisto you are getting paid hosting for free. The paid and free sites are hosted on the same servers, you just 'pay' for your hosting in a different way (you earn credit in your billing account by posting, and use that to settle your invoices).

Yes you can. And that is why i am here. I was searching the internet day night to find a good free host. Well i got my forum also but poor. It used to get disconnected again and again. Well then i got to the conclusion nothing comes without hardwork so then i decided posting on this website with full energy and force. Here you have Mysql and php and stuff. Well this thing is like paid only so you get all the best of things. And support is quite personal here. You have fantastico also that can one click download forums for people like me who think that it is all a big nuisance. Hopefully i will have my forum running in quite some time

You can run a forum just fine. Even on free hosting I was able to set up a forum like SMF, EsoTalk, PHPBB3. I didn't test the really good ones, like VB and IPB, those are rather expensive but I believe that any basic VPS host will be able to host the a forum. The only problem I would see is getting the database too full, especially if you have a high traffic forum, then you need to prune or delete posts, and threads once a week or so, so it doesn't get too hectic. I wouldn't for see problems, just maybe the traffic, and thats only if you get a really good forum. Forums are simple, it'll run, if it doesn't you have such nice support, here.
