Seo'ing Your Site Tips and Tricks to Search Engine Optimization

Recommended Posts

Nice tutorial, I however use IPB SEO as I obviously use IPB (Invision Power Board) I find IPB SEO is very easy to config and get the bots crawling your site where and when you want so you can hide them secret Warez sections from them :P However there are many other ways to get SEO like this one.

You could switch to phpBB3 and get phpBB3 SEO Premod, it has all the SEO mods installed. It has1. Advanced meta tags generator, it will search through the topic and insert meta tags. 2. URL rewrite, it will rewrite your dynamic page to a simple "relevantinformation.html" as you want. The topic title will be in the url.3. Gym sitemaps and RSS feed, this will help your forums to get ranked high. It automatically makes XML sitemaps for you and then you can submit them to search engines. RSS is also handy, you can boost the popularity of your forums by letting people be alerted when there's new topics/posts on the site. 4. It also generates you a .htaccess so you don't have to mess with it yourself. WARNING! The rewrite mod needs this .htaccess (THE ONE THAT THE AUTOMATED GENERATOR GENERATED) to be in the root directory, otherwise only your index page will work! 5. Zero duplicate, this will ensure you'll not have the same topic url twice. You should enable this in the very beginning of your forums. All this will get you ranked very high, it also pings google when your sitemap gets updated.Hope I helped.Good luck with the forums.

That makes a lot of sense. I've locked some things in places 3-8 on my gaming website that have nothing to do with gaming...Like "ant" or "queen." All because someone on our forums posted about killing the ant queen in Lineage II... There's absolutely no meta data/tag attached to that either... So how I would lock something completely unrelated to my site I do not get, but I won't complain either, :P.
It would be nice if there was a real guide (from Google) explaining the system and how it works, but then people would abuse it for themselves.

Like with everything else, some people screw everyone else over by trying to get ahead.

It would be great if Google were to make a complete guide, but as you said, it would get abused. Everybody would use it as a Bible, and not trust anything that isn't stated in that guide. I'm sure some people who used to work for Google are in the SEO buisness, and are probably making decent money from it, since they know exactly how to SEO correctly.

One SEO trick that you can even gain insight on by looking at the links here at the forums is having a script handle all (external) links. Why would you want to do that? By handling all links that don't already lead to somewhere on your site you give yourself the ability to redirect anyone with specific user-agent headers to wherever else you want. Meaning if your script were to notice that the Google bot is requesting to access an external link, you can redirect the bot back to your home page or index page of your site, keeping the bot constantly crawling your website for "all eternity." I am uncertain, though, if this goes against any rules over on the SE's side, or if the bots have been designed to be aware of such techniques, but it's an interesting technique nonetheless.

I use IPBSEO on Central-Gaming. B) However I am looking to buy CommunitySEO (cSEO) instead of MinervaSEO (MSEO). However I also figured Xisto using an IPB SEO module aswell. Though I don't see the copyright for it. :/ And also is this board using IP.Board Copyright Removal? B) Neat! B)IPB Copyright Removal I must say is quite an expensive addon/module. I also wonder if some "nulled IPB users" use nulled "IPB Copyright Removal" keygenerators or keys too. It's too obvious to spot a pirated IP.Board. :P

Wow. I looked on the site and it is very expensive to remove the copyright. I'm sure Xisto makes the money up in ads though.

Not just ads, they have their own webhosting business as well. I'm sure they still have a lot of customers, which equals more revenue, :P

The forums help them advertise their business as well, as anytime someone visits they see the "Xisto" and "Xisto - Web Hosting" names, implanting them mentally.
