Now if chrome is getting familiar by public, then I will have to worry about compatibility issue. and if it is open source, so how about the security? I worry too that it can be hacked since open source is open the code for hacker?
shadowx 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) Damn you! You beat me! I was gonna post this last night but didnt! Im also a web developer and browser compatibility is a BIG issue. If this thing isnt as good as, or better than FF then i hope it fails. I cant afford to spend yet more time testing in another browser. But lets hope its better than FF, nothing wrong with healthy competition, its the lack of it that has lead to IE's statenote this feature An “incognito” mode that lets you browse the web in complete privacy because it doesn’t record any of your activityComplete attack on IE8's "porn" or Private mode. Does the same thing. This shoould be very good. I also like a brand new JS engine, could be more stable and reliable than current browsers.Haha theres also a nice easter egg in the little comic book. They are talking about javascript and eventually you see a guy standing on a road with a speed limit sign to his right. The speed limit is 10 the power of 100 (so 10 with a small 100 written above and to the left in superscript) This number is in fact a Googol, and that is a scientific, mathematical word. Good choice of number eh By the way it should be released, in the UK, sometimes this (tuesday) evening. That comic is freaking brilliant! had me laughing out loud And im damn excited about chrome now, its revolutionary, the only real similarity between chrome and other browsers is the fact they all render and shoow web pages. Everything else is different! Completely different. Edited September 2, 2008 by shadowx (see edit history)

Yes I think the incognitio is the key to lure people too. How about a feature, that can read the cookies, and let us write another cookies manually Wah, how to discover the easter egg? have you tried the chrome not you shadowx? rayzoredge 2 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 Insane.Sitting through the comic, I actually read WHY this could possibly be better than FireFox... and I'll definitely give this one a try when it's available. I'm sure a lot of geeks will be suckered into praising Google just for the fact that the entire project is open-source and freely-available. I really like the sandboxing technique. People are going to eventually have to upgrade to newer, better machines with more memory instead of sticking to dinosaurs like I am thanks to the requirement that Mozilla introduced with tabbed browsing, but I suppose that since it's inevitable, might as well utilize that 2+ GB of RAM to at least bring stability to web browsing. Also, V8 sounds like a fantastic improvement over what we have now, but then again, that could just be me eating up what Google feeds the masses with the comic. I'm sure that other people will actually be familiar with the single-thread concept and understand moreso why the multi-thread processes, the unique identifiers, and the hidden adaptable common properties will boost the performance of JavaScript as a whole and by how much.I'm not sure if the average user will be able to appreciate any obvious functional differences between FireFox 3 and Chrome, but Google looks to be starting another browser fanbase, at least on the more technically-savvy side. Saint_Michael 3 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 (edited) Well I didn't bother reading the comic strip just because for all we know that they either used the firefox engine, opera engine (same one as firefox I think), safari engine or explorer engine. So unless they created their own browser engine, I would believe google's browser will be deader then my political career and only hardcore google fans and those who use the Andriod engine in cell phones will use that browser. Of course it should be interesting what the ACID results are for this browser as well and of course what kind of blow does this do to Mozilla since google has back them practically from the beginning and so I think a few people with be biting their nails to see what happens when ti comes out. shadowx 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 The used an engine from webkit, i dont know what engine but its not google's own. Which admittedly is cheating slightly, but with their multi tasking and sandboxing it should really excel
rayzoredge 2 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 In the too-long, didn't-read comic strip (which would be boring to most people anyway), they actually thank and admit to utilizing tidbits from Mozilla and Webkit, so it is "cheating," but people were credited appropriately. It even touches on the whole we-have-to-share-the-Internet-and-make-it-safe deal, which is why I'm sure geeks are in an uproar with wanting to get their hands on this and blab praises about it like a lot of people did with FireFox when it first came out. Security should be bolstered with keeping sites from accessing or altering anything on the local machine (thanks to the whole permissions and rights restrictions), but the software can only do so much. If there was a way to inform and remind users what to look for to prevent phishing techniques and allowing hazardous malware to touch the machine itself in a slipstream, within-the-experience sort of way, we might have a winner in user-friendliness. Then again, that could bring upon the annoyance that could mirror Vista's User Access Control. I can see this taking off with more computer-savvy folks, then slowly making its way into the "normal" audiences. Kind of like how FireFox was, anyway. innosia 1 Report post Posted September 2, 2008 Finally i have read the comics all, its very long...IMHO, they try to told us- This chrome has the potential to become standard- This chrome is better because of each tab is multi threaded with security like sand box- Features like incognitio where others dont haveI done some thinking, about the popup page which is opened when click, some popup is used for inputing, while others are banner, afraid that they will try to block return value from the window? Because it has separated process and each has its security? And it says that the javascript is using engine, okay well, is that engine really faster than current?
