Cutenews Vs. Wordpress What is best, and what would you recommend?

Recommended Posts

Hi, so I need some help. Some of you might now that I am struggling to get my blog/site up and going, but I have made some progress in the last couple of days. I have tried my best not to "fall off" and currently I am so excited and I am putting all my time and energy into my project. Even though it is not noticeable for you, I have done some stuff. Now I am wondering what to choose. CuteNews or Wordpress? I am quite familiar with CuteNews, but many people claims Wordpress to be better. Because I have worked with CuteNews before this would be easier for me. What are the differences, what would you recommend and what are your experiences?Thank you! :)

well,hi, bluebear~nice to see you again~ :DI am not a website guru, but I have some experience in using wordpress.I think wordpress is a very excellent blog script. It is written by php, a good programme language.there are so many people using wordpress, so if you have something wrong with your website, it is easy to get an answer in their online community.and there are so many themes designed by users, you can choose your favourite one, download and fix it on your own blog.and, the develop team of wordpress is very active, they release new versions of the software very frequently. So the problems of the script are often solved very soon.and , you can also get new functions by upgrading your wordpress. :)

I recommend Wordpress for your site. Wordpress is one of the most popular blogging platform, so it has a large support community. It also has many plugins and themes, which can meets your features requirement. Designing theme for Wordpress is pretty easy, you can design your theme without knowing much PHP, just insert template tags into your theme.

Well I will not be using a theme of some sort, but I will be integrating it into the site. So I will (probably) not have any need for the Wordpress templates.

Do you mean that you will design a theme for your website by yourself?
wow, I think that is very cool but I haven't tried that before.
If I have some time I will design a theme of my own, too.
That's interesting. I like blue and green. :P

You don't have to know php, but html is required to design a theme.

And you have to test the theme in different web scanners, IE6.0,IE7.0,FireFox,Opera....
I have three of these installed in my computer, sometimes, a website theme looks fine in IE6.0,
but it doesn't show itself well in FireFox and IE 7.0. :)

I have used both Wordpress and CuteNews.I also agree with everyone here, that Wordpress is the better choice. ( Assuming you want to use a Database. )Both do have a great community ready to help you whenever you run into a problem.Wordpress also can allow for some greater customization, which CuteNews cannot currently deliver as well as plugins that Wordpress has.

I'm thinking you should maybe use Wordpress over CuteNews. Why? Well, first of all, Wordpress is for blogging, while CuteNews is really intended for news. Since your using it for a blog, you may as well choose the one that is meant for blogs.

Wordpress is the best option if you want to set up your blog when you DON'T have the web design already made, because you can try any of the excellent themes available for free out there, and doing a few tweaks here and there, it may even look own-made! Besides, Wordpress is a software made for blogging, which is your purpose, and you can add hundreds of functionalities with plugins. However, if you already have your site, and just want to "insert" the blog in a piece of your layout, I must admit the doing it with Cutenews is much easier than with Wordpress. I remember that several years ago, when I was like 13 years old, I managed to make a Harry Potter website, and used Cutenews for the news section. The templating is easier with Cutenews, it was a matter of seconds.Anyway, if you think that some time in the future, you may want to expand your site and include forums, downloads or galleries, and have it all connected with your blog, then it would be worth try to put your design in a Wordpress theme (which can take you just a couple of days, including learning how-to) and use such blogging software since those things can be easily done with plugins.Well, that's your choice bluebear: if you want to keep it simple, Cutenews; if you'd like the add-ons, then Wordpress.Good luck!

Cutenews Vs. Wordpress - What is best, and what would you recommend?Cutenews Vs. Wordpress

I think both are okay but, WordPress is better than CuteNews. And the reason why Wordpress is better, because CuteNews is unsecured and now many people started hacking sites which is apparently because of CuteNews and the search.Php. So, if you are using CuteNews, immediately remove the search.Php to avoid hacking. That's my reason. Though, I like CuteNews than WordPress because I also experienced using CuteNews.
