juiceegraphics 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 This is just a huge comparison with all the chat servers, there's alot..so if you get bored of reading (lmao). Then just take the poll. lol. AIM I personally, love AIM. I think it's because I've been with it for so long, they recently brought out a new version "AIM Triton" Which was great, but I couldn't get used to the new look of it. So I still use my old aim version 5.9. LOL. However! The only serious problem I have with AIM, is the random virus-filled links, people send you. I have a dream... that someday, people will learn that they should never click on links without knowing the source. When you get a link in an IM, be caucious, First of all, Do you know who the hell the person is? Most of the time, when you click the link. It's virus-filled. And when you click it, it goes to the rest of your buddy list. Causing a HUGE commotion. Ask what the link is for, I don't understand why people just click it, then start complaining when there computers crash. Maybe people don't understand what a random link is! If your not talking to someone on away, and all of a sudden they IM you with a link like "Hackersareus.com" <- Don't do it, You weren't even talking to the person. YOU KNOW that's a virus, especially. Because look at the name, lol. But Overall, AIM is pretty cool. I feel like it's mostly used by American/Canadian users. Also Myspace users. MSN MSN Messenger is the fastest growing instant messaging program, and currently ranks #2 (behind AIM/ICQ). Okay! I respect all opinions, but regardless of what we think about Bill Gates and Microsoft .... MSN Messenger is the most compatible and is the easiest instant messenger to use. It's clean and extremely functional. HOWEVER! It's not perfect, but hey. Also -- It's easy to start a chat, you simply add a person to your conversation. In AIM, you have to create a whole new box. The only thing I don't like about MSN, is that. If you don't have a hotmail account, you have to make one to use it. In AIM, as soon as you register, it creates you an automatic aol email account (Or At least it did for me). YAHOO I believe yahoo, is an alternative for AIM or MSN. It's a bit easier, because if you signed up with Yahoo! Mail or My Yahoo, it works automatically. Im NOT a Yahoo user, I don't really like yahoo..however, I'd love to hear what you have to say about it. The pro's and con's of it. Because I don't really have any. ICQ ICQ, pronouced, 'I seek you' is the grandaddy of ALL instant messaging programs. Those of you who are about hmm let's say 14/15teenish, and below, probably never heard of it. Long Ago, before AIM or Yahoo there was a ICQ, it wasn't very nice looking, but hey if you wanted to talk to Grandma Rose in Argentina, then that's what you'd use. ICQ has grown over the years and claims over 100 million users worldwide. More and more features are being added, however people discard it because of the unwanted features. I've SEEN it, and I don't like how it looks, and the features. So I say, no. If you use it, please tell me what you think. GOOGLE TALK Google Talk is powered by google. It was realeased August 24th, 2005. (Correct me, if I'm wrong) and consists of both a service and client used to chat. I think google talk is OKAY! However, Most people in my school, go on it to chat with friends during classes. The only problem is that it pops up when someone messages you, if your caught. That sucks. BUT! Other than that intresting fact..Google Talk looks okay, it's powered by google which is a plus. And Yeah...If you use it, and enjoy using it, please feel free to comment lol. TRILLIAN And Woahh, This one reminds me of MSN so much. It's really creepy how much it looks like MSN Messenger, to the point some may call it a rip-off. But NO, it's actually Trillian Pro. I don't really know much about it, just seen it once in my lifetime (lol). So please, if Im wrong, feel free to correct me.
nehmanator333 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 MSN is the best. Aim is pretty much like a shared notepad.
DjLuki 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 i don't think anybody can beat msn in my opinion. i have had aim but it's not as good as msn, also used yahoo , still not as good as msn. MSN is much faster and easier to use. I hope it never goes away!!
Lyon2 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 I prefer google talk, i tired of msn messenger or windows live messenger, google talk is much more funcional, simple, easy and quickly to use, cool functions, and i love the interface, much more cool, even of the new windows live messenger, oh, and it takes less memory (ram) then the others.Google talk is the future! DogEater008 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 well.. MSN is the best... aim is mostly used by people (mostly americans) and google talk is simple and it is more convience because it uses the same account as your gmail (gmail is better than msn or hotmail). Aim is overrated, people just refuse to try new things. Everything has to start from somewhere; i have been trying to get people to switch to MSN but many still don't. Now, i started to use google talk because there are so many annoying people that have aim and it is distracting sometimes.Oh, just to point out, Trillian isn't really an IM server.. lol. It's a IM client that allows you to logon your msn, icq(same company as aim), aim, irc, and yahoo. Also, not to mention, microsoft recently joined with yahoo on their IM, so now you can talk to your YAHOO messenger friends using your MSN account. Just add their yahoo email account to your MSN buddy list. I guess the reason why they are doing this is because they are trying to compete with google. lol
brandon10092 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2006 Being serious, before I read this thread, I had never heard of Google Talk. But I don't care what anybody says, I have AIM, I've had AIM (for a long time), and I will have AIM. I've tried Yahoo and MSN, but they're just not the same, especially since nobody is on them. I have heard of ICQ, and I know that since it's been around for a while (a while meaning the BBS ages) it's the hacker's IM. I know a lot of hackers that use this to get in touch with their friends and talk about the latest compilers and such, but I've never actually seen it. If everyone for some reason seemed to make a change from AIM to some other IM client, then mabye I would think about making the move. But for now since everyone is right where I am, I'm staying put.
