Is there more pandemonium today than ever before in history? The Iraq war, the Timor Leste insurgency, the Congo civil war, the Thailand political crisis, the Israel-Palestinian conflict, the Japan-NorthKorea-US tension, the Bird Flu, the SARS, the Hurricane Katrina, and, they all seem to point the world in one direction: self-destruction.Why is there so much more fighting in a modern world that champions globalisation, peace and diplomacy? husker 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Hmm, hard to say. We're all to blame though, and God doesn't start wars and conflicts, we do. The world will never be peaceful. There will always be conflicts, but I don't think the world will end. Some events, such as Bird Flu and Hurricane Katrina, there is no one to blame. Basically what I'm saying is some things we can control and some things are just meant to happen, but nothing will be some terrible that the world will end. Any other thoughts? MaineFishing45 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Forget your religion for a moment and for get God and all the other things that you believe in. You need to drop who you are and your background, and just do some plain thinking with me....now that were on the same page. We are all human, no madder what makes us different from each other, we are all people. And people are not the most perfect thing that inhabit this earth. But one thing that we know is we are always fighting at each other for stupid things. I don't think the world will end, but people will be the fate of themselves. Instead of blaming others, we need to start preventing problems, not starting new ones.People are the fate of themselves. So basicly I think that we will be gone, and what is here will stay, just the animals and nature that surounds us. Anyways, we all will end up killing each other off the planet, unless we can stop locking horns all the time. But I think the web community and Xisto Community are a different breed of people. People that have a interest in technology are most often calm and have some sense of common sense, if that makes sense at all. ! Anyways thats a little unclear of a point, but we all get the basic concept around the end of the world.
adriantc 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 I think sooner or later the world will come to an end... "Everything that has a beginning has an end!" (Oracle Matrix). Even though it is a quote from a movie it is real and true. Major steps in evolution where taken after great extinctions. The dinosaurs had to become extinct in order for menkind to appear and evolve. Our ancestor the cavemen wouldn't have stood a chance against a T-Rex...We should also remember that death is a part of life. We, as individuals and to generalize as human race, are not made to live forever. Death is a natural part of evolution... if we wouldn't die we wouldn't feel the need to reproduce which is the engine of evolution. The Iraq war, the Timor Leste insurgency, the Congo civil war, the Thailand political crisis, the Israel-Palestinian conflict, the Japan-NorthKorea-US tension, the Bird Flu, the SARS, the Hurricane Katrina, and, they all seem to point the world in one direction: self-destruction.The crisis (some bigger, some smaller) you underlined seem to have only one conclusion: self-destruction. But you should also remember that in recent history menkind has nearly averted some even bigger crisis like the Cold War. It is, up to date, the biggest crisis of all time. We were half an hour away form nuclear war and self-destruction.I believe that the world will someday come to an end, but surely it is no going to be in the next 100 years.PS: Someday in billions and billions of years the universe and with it life, will come to an end. So end of the world ... yes... tomorrow or the day after tomorrow ... no!

gameratheart 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 check this out: Bible: End of the World Notice how almost all the predictions made on this page have expired. I think we should stop trying to predict the End of The World, as we're never going to get it right! Besides, doesn't the BIble say that "it will come like a thief", in other words, not forseen by any?

Cerebral Stasis 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 Not us as a generation, no. The fact is that we humans aren't powerful enough to destroy ourselves completely. There will always be survivors, no matter what weapon we use (excluding something completely fictionous like a planetary explosive, ozone decompiler, or terrestrial temperature modifier). However, radiation in space and the limits of speed in the physical world as we know it will pretty much restrict us to this solar system, of which this is the only inhabitable planet (and will remain as such for thousands if not millions of years). That means that either we as a race or our evolutionary descendants (if you believe in that stuff) will be destroyed either by a collision caused by a stellular body (either an asteroid or the moon crashing down on us), or the burning out of Sol (our solar system's star). To sum it up, we're screwed, but we're just screwed in a very predictable way and we won't be screwed soon enough to make worrying about it worthwhile. pixieloo 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 It's our fault there's gonna be an end of the world. But God is the one who's gonna end it. It might be today, tomorrow, the day after.. we won't know.
heavensounds 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2006 I think, that we have to define what world is first. There is another question adn that is: "From where did it come from??" only than we can talk about where it is going! People often talk about the end of our lil' earth, but nothing like that really matters to our life and joy in it. We will never be happy even if the world is not about to end because we are surely going to die so why bothering with things like that. Just try to live joyfully and believe me if one lives really joyfully, that is only possible by respecting the nature and everything including earth - if everyone respected themselves and tried to live a really joyfull life than they would respect earth and live according to all the natural laws that are easy to follow...DON'T TRY TO SAVE THE NATURE, TRY TO LIVE BY HER RULES, BECAUSE EVERYTHING BUT US IN NATURE IS WORKING PERFECTLY! Joshua 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2006 Is the world coming to an end? Is there more pandemonium today than ever before in history? The Iraq war, the Timor Leste insurgency, the Congo civil war, the Thailand political crisis, the Israel-Palestinian conflict, the Japan-NorthKorea-US tension, the Bird Flu, the SARS, the Hurricane Katrina, and, they all seem to point the world in one direction: self-destruction.Why is there so much more fighting in a modern world that champions globalisation, peace and diplomacy? Why is there so much more diseases and natural disasters? Is it God, or is it us? It's certainly not God. He made an originally peaceful world with no disease, no wars, no problems of any kind. Changes to that came because of Satan and us choosing our own ways over God. And of course, what was God's plan? Peace, prosperity, loving relationships between all, justice, compassion, mercy, forgiveness.. basically everything perfect. So now take the alternatives to that which we as a race chose by following our own selfish lusts and desires... war, destruction, hatred, injustice, cruelty, grudging... ultimately all imperfection. We not only ruined ourselves, but the entire sum of God's creation all around us through our rejection of God's ways, which is why natural disasters, diseases, etc... are here. Some of it may even be because of God's just judgements upon our evil deeds in the past. As for the world's future, I agree with Adrian... for the most part. Everything PHYSICAL has an end if it has had a beginning. Basic physics shows us this, matter decays. But everything in us seeks that which is eternal. We weren't made for the temporary, but for the eternal. As C.S. Lewis said, "we're all eternal spirits in a world that tries to hide our true identities from us." So while I am sure this world and all the physical universe is going to end, that doesn't mean the end of our existence. In deed, the Bible says God will bring in new heavens and a new earth, and the former won't be remember or come to mind. There will even be a new place of separation from God, called the Lake of Fire, where the current Hell or Sheol will be thrown into. God has no intention of letting things run on their current course, He's just trying to convince us of the error of our ways so we'll repent and turn to Him before it's too late. It's just what the bible said he did before lol)Ok for real now, I dont think its worse. I mean before people would fight for land everyday. They would kill each other much more brutaly then today. It was just different. They also had disease, but they could not cure them and people would die much more quickly. Wasnt the average life span in ancient Egypt only 30 years? I do think that global warming will get to us here soon because that happens naturaly and we really have screwed that up really bad with all the damn cars and planes and everything else. The only reason we still havnt tried something else it because the make more $$$ with Gas.
Shadow Knight 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 You may all think im crazy for sayin this but its proven fact....We have had over 20 ice ages that we know of, as time goes on so do these ice ages. What scientists beleave is that we will be heading into and ice in withen the next 100 years. Every 20,000 years or so the earth has this phase that it must complete. We have survived many of these ice ages and each ice age creates new land and new life. As said in previous posts humans will not be here forever but thats nots true. The fact that we over populate the world will never change, yes we will be killed in large numbers but we will never go completely. Anyways back to what i was saying, the earth is getting ready for its ice age phase meaning it will cause the ice caps to melt and flood all the current lands. Then our O-zone layer will strenghen and block the sun a lot more and we all know how cold it gets without the sun.....whuch means ice. No one really knows how long this phase will last but i can tell you now, it will be a few life times before its over and i dont plain on becoming an icecube anytime soon. With all this war and stuff going its going to be difficult for the earth to have this phase and im sure im not hte only one who noticed this but has anyone seen the increase of tornados, hurricains, earht quakes, and giant waves? This year all our records were broken...meaning withen the next years they will continue to get worse. All i can say is the world will be here forever.....we on the otherhand wont. I hope my strory explains enough......im a big thinker and i like learning.
Reaper 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 it seems like somone will always be saying the world is going to end. I don't know what all the fighting and natural disaters have to do with the world ending but if you have the time to think about stuff like that good for you but please don't put all these stupid theories up here. I mean to be quite honest all it shows is how *BLEEP* your life is if you have nothing better to do than think about this!! But honestly the world has not ended for the last how ever many years when it has been 01 01 01 and 02 02 02 ( you get my drift) you see where i'm going with this and it will not end when the nexted 07 07 07 comes up and so on so please stop trying to predict that it will and just live your life. it is short enough as it is without wasting time on dumb things. Well that is just my opinion. If you wake up every morning and say " the world will end because two cars i drove past today where the same color" or what ever else comes up good luck to you. But really think about it just say the happened to end on one of these things they predicted it means you would have spent your last days predicting when the world was going to end and not enjoying life like you should be. And anyway even if you do predict it right what can you do about it ?? you see the irony ??
JasperIk 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2006 Its not like none of this has happened before. The world is an ever changing place, even the universe is ever changing. Many times in the past has the world changed, and animals died out, and then new ones came to exist. The only difference is, humans believe they will be here forever, but that is not the case, who knows in like 1,000 years a new better breed of animals will inhabit the earth. Wars have happened since the beginning of time, just now we have bigger, and "better" weapons that could actually destroy a whole country, with just one action...its a scary place to live honestly, and if the ever changing earth doesn't destroy us, some big headed country leader will.
