SymplePleasuresOnline 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 I'm looking for some feedback on my site. I know that it is simplistic and I was going for that so as to not take away from what I am selling. If there are any glitches or things that you think would improve my site, I'd love to hear about it.Thanks in advance! http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
Sam2698 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 nice site, but isn't it supposed to be simple and not symple.Anyway it could use a few more changes such as the current skin you are using. and I just want to know how much did you buy the script for?
jlhaslip 4 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 A couple of small things. 1). The Products page doesn't display all the Categories 'above the fold', partly because of the extra spacing from the < p > and <br /> tags that are within the paragraphs. If you converted that list of categories to a list using < li >'s, for instance, the list of categories would be visible when they first arrive at the page and it would be easier for customers to click-on. Because they wouldn't have to scroll down to even see the list, it might promote some spontaeous browsing, hence purchasing, on the customer's part if the links are 'above the fold' and readily available. Also might be good to put a clickable picture as a link here. Right now, there is nothing to indicate that they are 'links'. Usually links are a different colour or underlined or bolded or bordered to show that clicking them will take you to another page. <p class="catname"><strong><a href='products.asp?cat=8'>Bracelets</a></strong><br> </p> 2). The FAQ page. The list of FAQ's arre sitting there in a list, but they aren't 'linked'. It would be easier for the customers to use this page if they were linked to the answers. Design-wise, Nice Site. I prefer 'simpler' designs. Often sites are too busy and too packed full of stuff. You have done a nice job here.I am not in the market for any jewellery, though. Good Luck with the site.Just guessing, but was the domain name 'Simple Pleasures' already taken? Is that why the spelling is 'Symple'?
joeysicily 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 I like the site. It looks like it was put together pretty well. The one thing I think needs some work on is the products page. I click on producst and alls I see is just the same links as on the left side? Whats the deal with that. I definetely think there should be pictures on this page and even featured items or ON SALE items. You can make a seperate link for just ON SALE items if you have any sales. Also even NEW items that you just recently added might be a nice touch. Have you made any sales from your website yet? How are you promoting it? Well good luck on it. Looks pretty good and of course we all know its spelled simple, but it was probably taken which is why you with with symple or you may have another reason for the change, but I dont think thats a draw back. That actually gives is it different touch. Have fun.
Plenoptic 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 It isn't bad. It looks really rather plain but that is ok. It is a pretty smooth layout. I am wondering why you have the welcome to the site down at the bottom of the page. Not many people will see it down there. I don't really care for the text on the top navigation. Dragonfly 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 Your site is nice, simple in layout and is easy to navigate. The only problem I see is the spelling of the URL. Symple instead of simple. I can see that you have put lots of hard-work on your site. It contains many items. One item or menu if you include in the site which will serve customers greatly is FORUM or discussion board where customers can say something even before they actually buy the products. This is good for confidence building measures between your customers and your company. That's all my take.

Earths Daughter 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2006 The layout is clean and simple, which works best for an online store. Online store designs should not be too busy which distracts attention away from the products. The one thing which I see as a problem is the lack of detail in the product descriptions.I clicked on the "Yurman Inspired Bangle" bracelet first. I see the stones are cubic zirconia, but no description of the metal used in it. What kind of metal is it, and is it solid metal, plated or layered? I clicked on the "Gold Tone Cuff Watch" next. Again, no description of the metal used. No name of the watch company, either. Next I tried the "Genuine Crystal Stone Earring" (a pair of earrings is plural, by the way. you may want to add an 's' to your earring sets). I wondered what sort of crystal stone it was, no description of it. Austrian crystal, Hong Kong crystal, quartz crystal? Next I tried looking at a set. The "Antique Coin Set", I liked this one actually. But what kind of coins are they? Real antique coins or reproductions? Classical Roman or Greek coins, Renaissance coins, Victorian era coins? All in all, I suggest you grab a catalog from a department store, and look up their jewelry descriptions to see what sort of detail they use to describe their products. Knowing exactly what they're going to be getting inspires confidence in customers. Also, from your FAQ, I see you do not charge sales tax. Since you are based in NY state, if you sell anything to a customer in NY, the state will expect sales tax from you to be passed on to them. Hopefully, you have already talked to a lawyer or done research on the technical aspects of selling things over the internet. If not, I would suggest talking to a lawyer and accountant about it. Preferably someone who is familiar with doing business online, and the legal and financial aspects of it.
