My Teacher Is Wrong Complain about teachers here

Recommended Posts

That is truly sick. Especially to hear it from someone who is supose to teach people, and set an example. They should be teaching children to accept all religeon/backgrounds ect. I really cant understand or stantd these people. If they are going to say things like that, they should get out of teaching. Fast!

It seems to me from reading the first post and skimming through the rest of the posts in this thread that there are three separate issues involved here:

Should he have said what he said?

Should he have said what he said to whom he said it?

Should he have said what he said where and when he said it?

These three issues are totally separate and should be dealt with as such. Firstly, I understand that the original poster, semeticsister is from the USA, and so no matter that the teacher is a German Canadian Christian, they were in America at the time, where I believe you still have 'Freedom of Speech' and therefore the comment is just as allowable as any other inflammatory utterance. They do still have 'Freedom of Speech' in the USA don't they? You don't have to agree with what he said, but as a good American citizen you should be defending his right to say it anyway.

Next is the issue of choosing your audience carefully. Others in this thread have already mentioned how thoughtless and uncaring this teacher was in making the comment in front of people of other faiths. Freedom of Speech is all very nice, but as a white person I wouldn't go exercising my right to Freedom of Speech, for instance, by promoting the KKK or white supremacy if I was alone in Bronx, unless I want to get my head smashed in! No, with rights comes responsibilities. If you choose to exercise your rights then you have to be prepared for the consequences.

This leads into the third aspect, that of where and when it was said. While you may have Freedom of Speech, you need to remember who it is that you are representing at the time also. This man was a teacher, and therefore he represented the school and the school district to his students. Personal comments and opinions have no place in such an establishment. He is welcome to exercise his civil liberties outside of class time, but when he's at work he should stick to the curriculum.

I may have this all wrong, being that I'm not American myself, but this is my perspective on it and I'm happy to be corrected.

I will complain about my teacher too.We have just been learning about society, norms, how to behave in different situations, socialising etc. When we were learning about socialising my teacher asked the class this question: "Is it better for children to go to kindergarten og stay at home with their parents/mum/dad/grandparents?" Every single one said "kindergarten", but our teacher looked weird at us. "Staying at home with parents or family is the best", he said. We started argumenting that it was a lot better for children to go to kindergarten, because there they would meet other children as well as grown-ups and socialise with them. But no, of course our teacher continues saying that staying at home was the best, bla bla bla. "Why?" we said. "That is not very logic?" The idiot answers "Because I say so. I teach this class and I know more than you. Therefore I am right." I mean come on! Give us a logic reason. Staying at home with for example grandparents with opinions from WW2 does not sound very good.

That really isn't right. I mean singling you out, and from the sounds of it he gave you a look as he said 'not Hanukkah' And the Politcally correct term I think is 'holiday break' I mean over here in Australia a principal got in trouble for wishing their students 'merry christmas' apparently it's meant to be 'happy holidays'

1. The correct answer to a test question was: the united states of america but she marked "america" wrong and North America right!

2. She gave us one night to write a paragraph which was a test grade(she didnt even mention that part until we passed it in)

3. She gave us a 57 word vocab list and 2 days to study for a vocab quiz

4. She gave another class 5 points on their test if they brought in their book but not my class

5. She gives us a project with just one night to complete itAnd there's moreHow does she manage to accomplish all this in just the first quarter of the year (in just 45 days!)-reply by anonymous

My REDICULOUS english teacher, please read tell me if itMy Teacher Is Wrong

My english teacher is totally unfair. Not only the way she treats me in class isn't fair, but as well as how she grades my papers. I normally get straight A's in english but not since I got this teacher. We had a WAY hard research paper that was due and it was worth like 500 points. It took me MANY nights to finish it and I tried my hardest on the topic I was given, not an easy one at all might I add. So I confidently turn in the paper but when I got it back written on the paper was a huge F, circled--I'm sure to show emphasis?...Or maybe not. She claimed that it was obvious that I had taken no effort to create a "well-researched paper", and as well wrote in AND docked me for things, in her opinion, should have been worded differently. Such as: "The Book of the Dead was widely used in Egypt" to, "The Book of the Dead was used widely in Egypt". What difference does that make? She also docked me for spelling her uncommon last name wrong, but I was not the only one who made this mistake--yet, I was the only one docked for it (all of these events occured first term).  Onto second term she developed a strange dislike for me, possibly because the girl in front of me would never stop talking yet I was the one being called out in class. I found this unfair and it happened many times.  Towards the end of the term me and some friends made a video for extra credit, representing the Julius Caeser (by Shakespeare) death scene. Second term ended and I was curious as to what had happened to this extra credit, considering my 2nd term grade had not changed at all whatsoever. So it was 3rd term and I went and asked her, she claimed she had all ready put it in.  So I checked my grades the following night and found out that there it was! I got a WHOPPING 63/60 on an assignment for extra credit...A whole 3 points! WOW. I just let that fly though, not thinking much of it when I discovered that I was getting graded unfairly.  This term I have not received full credit on ONE assignment (graded by her) when I have been trying the best that I can.  I have one assignment that got 100% but it was an evaluation done by students that I worked with in a group project.  I have gotten minus 1 on one assignment and the rest are downhill from there.  I tried extremely hard on the beginning of this essay we are writing and I did EVERY SINGLE REQUIREMENT she gave out, and yet I missed ten points..? Sounding suspicous?  She is also very hypocritical in her correcting.  Me and my friend turned in study guides for the very popular book, The Count of Monte Cristo (by Alexander Dumas), which were for us to help study for our test on the book.  We used words that would help us remember how the people were.  We wrote down that one of the characters, Caderousse, was being a butt head.  We were each docked for that word, as well as docked another point for "inappropriate use of words in english." The same day that we recieved that paper (corrected), my teacher thought it would be funny to swear.  Swearing is very offensive and mostly unapproved in my culture and religion.  Not only was she swearing she also out right discriminated where we live and the people who live here.  Me and my friend found this very hypocritical considering she had docked us for "inappropriate word use", when she was using "inappropriate language".  All together I am fed up with my teacher.  I am trying VERY hard to earn a scholarship that requires a B average in a bunch of classes, including english.  My teacher is making it nearly impossible for me to keep that up.  I have yet the last term to wait for to see if maybe she will shape up and show the respect (I know we should respect her) that we deserve not only as her students but as her fellow human beings.
