Don't Cops Have Better Things To Do i mean besides invading our schools

Recommended Posts

now that is a great point, but there isn't anything they can do about kids smoking. it's not against the law 4 kids 2 smoke. it's against the law 4 them 2 buy cigarretts. i think they need to do more about kids using drugs.

Hmm... you're sure it's not against the law for them to smoke? Seems pretty ridiculous to me that they'd make the law about them not to be able to buy them but they can use them if someone else buys them... I'm pretty sure it is illegal, but rarely enforced...

And BT, you need to put something with both a quote and a /quote tag, just the /quote isn't enough. You can also just highlight something and click the quote button.

yes i'm sure it's not illegal for kids to smoke. i have alot of friends that do. it's against school rules to smoke on school grounds. but thats the only time you'll get in trouble 4 it.

Well, doing a search I found it's illegal in England...

Apparently it is or was illegal in NC:

I guess it isn't illegal to smoke which seems ridiculous to me... they could save so much money on all the programs to help people quit smoking and trying to use roundabout ways to go after cigarette sellers if they'd just go after kids for smoking underage... -_-

Yep it is, but that doesn't stop people from smoking. I know a group of people (who are 13) who waste their money buying and smoking them. Trouble is that have to do it in private, away from their parents and all other adults. They got caught once and their parents were informed and I know one gave up, but not the police so they're not everywhere.

The idea is if they make it illegal for the younger generation to smoke, they won't and as they get older, still not somoking because it's illegal, they'll be adult enough to listen to the campaigns so they won't start. Then the governemnt won't have to spend money on cancer research.

The only time the cops come into our school is after something has happened. Once, about 2 or 3 months ago, the night the Yr11's (the top year at secondary school) left, they came in to the school at 2am and totally vandalised it. The cops came in to lauch an investigation. Since then, they built another 6ft fence by the entrance of the school and installed one CCTV camera.

Well, in my school we don't have an SRO, to be honest I've never even heard of SRO's. The school staff always break up the fight, usually the caretaker, and then the head teacher always deal with it afterwards, either with detention, suspension, or, if more serious, expulsion.Just this year two boys had an absolutely huge arguement at break time over a girl and they planned a fight for during lunch. At this point I would like to point out that none of the teachers knew this until the fight happened. They started punching each other and one of their shirts came off and flew up on to the roof (it was quite funny in one sense). Then the caretaker came out broke it up and a load of teachers came out to divide them and sort them out. I think they both had a week of suspension and some counselling + detention when they came back.Oh, and if your wondering about the shirt that blew up on the roof, it blew somewhere else and was never seen again... -_-

Cops are in my school. They don't have a large presence on my school. We have like a stricter principal now. But we use to have fights all the time, people trhowing firecrackers here and there, girl fights, and food fights. You just can't believe. They even threw snow on one of the security people. lol. well she was school adminstrator. but she doubled as security. one day the cops came and like swiped the desk with paper and check the machine to see if we had drugs. lol. And they sent in dogs that sniff out drugs. I think they found people with drugs. But i wasn't sure. And now they have security camera. lo.

I just remembered something I heard. The reason cigarettes are legal and marijuana isn't is because marijuana is easily grown. They can tax cigarettes, they can't tax marijuana. All of which means that maybe the reason they don't make it illegal for teens to smoke is because they don't mind kids getting addicted since cigarette taxes can earn them so much revenue. You know why they like taxing drugs? Because like gambling, it's addictive, and once you're hooked you're hooked. In other words it's not something people will easily boycott no matter what you raise the taxes to.

I read about this girl on yahoo... she was SOO embarrased, she had to move. they found nothing. thats not even remotely right, and all because some girl who doesent even realy know her ( or was in a fight ) told them she had "Controband Objects"
an article on the washington post said

"...(NAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY) had been accused by a friend of handing out prescription-strength ibuprofen and over-the-counter anti-inflammatory pills -- possession, use and distribution of which were prohibited without school permission. A teacher had found such pills in a planner (NAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY) had lent to the friend. "
..."...School officials found no incriminating evidence after a search of (NAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY)s backpack; a school nurse and a teacher -- both female -- then escorted (NAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY) to a private room where they asked the teenager to strip down to her bra and underwear. The officials did not touch (NAME REMOVED FOR PRIVACY) but asked her to shake her bra and hold open her underwear to determine whether she was hiding the drugs on her person. They again found nothing. "

THat is terrible. i would hate to have this happen to me... especialy by same gender workers ( they were both female )

I removed the name for privacy

It's certainly a mess these days when you have kids bringingguns to school and murdering people.I say do whatever you can to stop it.Of course you can blame the parents first. They shouldkeep these guns locked up properly,or not be allowed to have them at all.

Well I don't know about you but I think at least they are there for your protection and not there to cause trouble. I would feel 10x more safe with them there then without because what if somebody does bring a weapon to school? Would you rather have the school call the police and them be there in 10-20minutes later or be there instantly? Plus I'm sure they are there more to keep your school drug free then to stop violence like that, overall I don't think it could hurt either way. If there is something your doing at school and your worreid about the police stopping you maybe you shouldn't be doing it?

I kinda agree with that. you have to learn to focus on whats important and remember that its only a preventive measure meant to help you if anything goes wrong. If you look at the recent spate of violent crimes by students at school, you would thank the administrators of your school for putting your security first.
