  1. Hey Silent, welome to Xisto. I hope you get your hosting, that site sounds good. I too like the Xbox, although i have a PS2 myself. What are your favourite games? Do you play on Live? Maybe you should have a bit on your site where you talk about your favourite games?
  2. Does anyone know how to make your own search engine? Does it take lots of time and careful programming or is it quite quick and easy to make a basic one? Post here!
  3. Btw, when I say it can cause FTP problems, I mean it may also be causing your problem, sorry.
  4. Yes, it could be your firewall, but I have never seen a firewall cause an IP denial problem before, although I think my firewall did say I was attacking myself for a while. You may want to try creating some sort of exception for muonline in your firewall program and also, if you have two firewall programs, that can cause FTP problems, so if, for instance, you have Norton Personal Firewall and Windows XP Firewall, you may want to turn the XP one off or create an exception for it (Control Panel > Classic View > Windows Firewall > Exceptions Tab). I would try the last step before you do anything to your "Norton or whatever" firewall. Hope this helps!

    Hi All

Yeah, welcome to Xisto Moody! I'm sure you will love being at Xisto and that you will find hosting good enough to whatever you want to do!
  6. I have a question to ask about WAN/Local security. There is a WAN I am registered on that has a server (maybe more than one, or one with multiple partitions or something, I don't know) hosting files that are to be accessed in the following ways: one drive contains your personal files and only you should be able to access them and another contains read-only communal files. This works fine, but the problem is that to access any of these drives, the local username and password are an administrator login, meaning that any user can access Control Panel etc. There is no proper network administrator, all network administration is done from one place, which is nowhere near where I am involved.Another problem is that you can map various network drives that you shouldn't have access to.Lastly, I am not allowed to change my own password, and I have been waiting for this to happen at the central admin place but it hasn't happened. My friend's password is known to many people that shouldn't know and whilst most of us wouldn't do anything wrong with it, there has been a problem with unauthorised access to his files. I have been waiting almost a year for my password to be changed with no information about if or when it will be changed. We mainly use Windows 2000 computers with some sort of Novell network software.I would be grateful to anyone that can suggest a solution to any of these problems, and I would pass on the information to the person that I think is most appropriate. Thanks again!
  7. Hi, In my cPanel, the disk space usage meter never changes, even when I delete a substantial folder of files. I always seems to read the same thing. I also got an email telling me I had used over 300%of my disk space?!? What should I do, I can'tvery easily tell what my exact usage is but it can't be over the limit I don't think. Can someone tell me how much space all the various files that are there that you don't put there like ht.access, frontpage extension config files, unknown folders etc. take up? Is it anywhere near 5MB? Thanks a lot for any help, my account details are as follows: Website: (no index yet, friend making one for me) Starter Package = 20MB disk space usage limit Used space (supposedly): 62.79 plus 1.31 SQL disk usage.
  8. Hey Sazalathar, welcome to Xisto, I hope you have a good time while you're with us. I envy you! You have your own servers! Humph! Anyway, if you have any problems, please feel free to ask me if you don't want to ask the admins. I'm always here to help, just get in touch!
  9. What is everyone's favourite windows theme? What about the different appearances and backgrounds etc.? Anyone got any really good and legal pictures for us to use as backgrounds for our desktops? Please post here, and by the way, do not post the images here, please send them to infamousflame@hotmail.com and I will place them on my imagehost, otherwise, you might waste your bandwidth or your disk space and in any case, you are only allowed to upload so much to these forums. Thankyou.
  10. Thanks for the tip Klass, if I ever have that problem, I'll be sure to use this method.
  11. Welcome Hakim, I hope you enjoy your time at Xisto, I have, if you have any questions and don't want to ask an admin, feel free to contact me!
  12. Lol, might've know Trekkie would put SMF down, but I would have to agree, SMF is a great forum, apparently it is very secure as well, in case you have problems with hackers. You can download SMF and then upload it to your host if you have one, or you can also check out SMF Host if you need to have it remotely hosted. Just register, read the appropriate stuff and then post in the hosting requests board. The main SMF Host page is SMF, so if you wanted to see it in action, you can there .
  13. Hi!I'm infamousflame and I like to do anything to do with the creation of websites, forums, mucking about with WANs etc. I am friendly and I hereby invite anyone that wishes to talk to me to email me at infamousflame@hotmail.com saying who you are and I will then know to unblock you on MSN Messenger. I am hoping to be hosted by Xisto soon and will be creating a website that is essentially a general-purpose site that includes information about me, an open-edit area that anyone can edit, a forum (SMF and possibly IPB (the same software that this forum uses)) and some other scripts including a chat script and a guestbook script. I will also be making a clans page for Warhammer 40000 Dawn Of War (a really good RTS game for PC).Again, please feel free to email me at infamousflame@hotmail.com if you want to talk to me about anything! Thankyou!
  14. I think Plus! is good, it has lots of new features, does anyone know if the commands list appears without having plus! installed? I can press "/" and then i get a list of commands that I can use to change my status or close conversation windows or block people or whatever.
  15. In certain circumstances, people can't use the full version of a messenger, so sometimes it is useful to have a web-based one because they might be able to use that. And Trek, what's the difference between e-messenger.net and iloveim.cm (the one I suggested) other than the look etc.?
  16. Erm, I dnno, how do you do that? is it done from the extensions page?
  17. You're welcome and lol I know, it looks a bit tacky but I don'tknow if it i spyware-infested. Another thing is Customess, again I don't know if it is spyware free, but it is full of display pics and stuff, you can get it from a link or something from mess.be
  18. Thanks a lot, I might check these sites out once I get my free hosting from Xisto.
  19. Thanks, the one I suggested only works with AIM, YIM and MSN and I don't know if you can skin it.
  20. Yeah, I never thought of that, thanks. Mozilla's Firefox web browser can be downloaded here. Runescape can be found here.
  21. When I tried to play Runescape in Mozilla's Free browser (Firefox), I couldn't. However, when I tried to play the game in Microsoft Internet Explorer, I could. It may be possible to play Runescape in Firefox by altering Firefox's settings, or it could just have been me or chance or something that caused me to have a problem.
  22. Below is a link to a website that contains a collection of free and paid for scripts: Scripts
  23. Below is a link to a web-based instant messenger that allows you to sign in to several different Instant Messaging applications without requiring java or any other special software: Web-Based Instant Messenger
  24. Here is a link to a site that has lots of things that can be used to personalise and liven up instant messaging: Mess With Messenger
