  1. If your asp.net content folder and sub-folders totally contain more than 2 web.config, that error may be raised. Try seek out the duplicated ones.
  2. I would like both Media Player Classic (for video) and foobar2000 (for audio). Both of them are free, in small size, consume relatively less system resources than others and "simple but powerful", for example, Media Player Classic supports hardware decoding.
  3. I will buy an copy of Windows 7, especially there is a amazing price of Student Select version of Windows 7 Ultimate in Hong Kong.
  4. Hi, ljiljana I was used to own a Pentium 4 2.4GHz PC, and it was fairly good. Your "80 Gb memory" should be 80GB Hard disk instead, and the memory size of your computer is one of the critical measurement for us to judge your computer performance. You may see it from Control Panel->System Properties at Windows 2000 or newer. In my opinion, your PC is acceptable to view modern websites, especially heavy multimedia-driven ones, and its speed will be acceptable if you are using Windows XP or Windows 7, and never open more than 5 applications at the same time, never more than 10 when counting icons at notification area (lower right hand corner of the bar below your desktop.
  5. Nice to meet you, too.
  6. If you really run Vista with Aero ONLY, and do not running another monster software like MS Office, I found it runs fairly smooth at Intel Core Duo T2050 (1.6GHz) and 1GB RAM. In addition, a standard 32-bit (XP/Vista) PC supports 4GB RAM in spec, about 3GB RAM in practice, and may support 4GB RAM when PAE is enabled (but actually not in 32-bit Vista). Geoff Chappell stated that 32bit Vista would fully support 4GB RAM after modding the OS kernel. (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/, but I and the author are NOT responsible for ANY POTENTIAL DAMAGE caused if you dare to do so). On other hand, 64bit Windows supports up to 8GB (Vista Home Basic) to 128GB (Vista Business/Enterpise/Ultimate) installed RAM.
  7. One word, Upgrade. I have tried both Vista SP1 and Windows 7 RC, and I just find the latter is just faster and more stable, and able to run almost Vista things.
  8. Right, Wine (and its offsprings) has done a good job to emulate Win32 APIs, including the "close-standard" DirectX APIs. In addition, it will be great if display chip vendor put more efforts on the Linux driver of their products.
  9. Do you run your stuff on a web hosting service or on a server? If you are able to modify PHP settings, which is prohibited or limited on most web hosting service, seek a line like "memory_limit = 16M" to the desired size. Do not forget to reload the HTTP service if you own the server.
  10. In my opinion, you should consider using Windows hosting if you want to host .NET web projects/applications/services and/or use MS SQL as the backend, and it guarantees greatest compatibility. Otherwise you are recommended to use Linux hosting. In general, for paid hosting, Linux-based hosting is usually cheaper than Windows-based one.
  11. Well, Simpleton have given some good points. However, in practice, antivirus programs may not able to kill those scums when they are executed. One of the possible way is using any antivirus software which supports scan drives before initalizing Windows GUI. I know Avast! can do this. The point to stop harmful things in removable devices to be executed automatically is to disable AutoPlay for removable devices. You may use system tweaking tools like MS Power Toys, TweakVista to do so. After that, do not forget to scan the devices by any updated AntiVirus program.
  12. For me, qov.tw, which is also powered by byethost, is better than almost free web hosting services. Fairly low latency, and support most PHP functions. But I have something to say. Absence of socket and cURL functions support makes me uncomfortable; its database capacity is limited to 50mb; and its VistaPanel always halts my IE8. So I want to try Xisto.
  13. I tried to register 000webhost for testing, but I found I am unable to complete its IP activation even I have tried different PCs. I managed to complete its registration via a web proxy. Each time I logged in 000, she just says "your account will be activated within 24 hours", but I have waited for at least 7 times of 24 hours. (Yeah, activate by their admin, not mine) Therefore I gave up this web hosting service.
  14. Ya, Hong Kong is a good place for tour, drinks, and snacks.
  15. You are right, I come here to test the pay-by-post web hosting. But I don't understand why you say cycling is "illegal" in the part of the world. Do you mean you are too busy to cycle?
  16. One of the paid version of Wine, called CrossOver Games, may help. Its usage and compatibility of Win games are easier and better than Wine.
  17. You may solve the problem in two ways:1. Enter Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Regional and Language Settings -> Advanced (the third tab) 2. Choose "English" from the drop-down list of "non-Unicode Language" panel 3. Restart your computer and verify by your Guild war The alternative way takes advantages of an tool called AppLoc. 1. Download Microsoft AppLoc install package from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download 2. Install, and open it from Start Menu -> Microsoft AppLoc-> AppLoc 3. In the AppLoc wizard, choose your Guild War launcher program as the executable, English as the desired language. 4. (OPTIONAL) Still, you may choose creating an shortcut at the final step of the wizard for furthur usage. 5. The launcher program is usually be executed after the wizard. Check if your guild war speaks English. I hope my methods help.
  18. I have not used Vista Starter edition yet, but I believe SpiderVV's point.First, you may insert your thumb drive to another PC. If the drive is still reported as unformated, you may try using some data recovery programs like Recover Data (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/). Hope it works.
  19. Greetings, all. I come from Hong Kong, and my interests are programming, cycling, reading and surfing.
