I feel that apple and intels partnership will be a boon for the computer industry in the future. The only reason many people were deprived of the beauti of Mac OS was because of the sheer expensive nature of the hardware. Now with Mac turning to intel ... which has a bigger foot print in the market, which inturn allows cheaper rates, Macs can finally be a part of every family.I was just reading about this in the news paper today and the views of the reporter were similar. Also something that no one has yet realized is that not only will Mac reach more people but WINDOWS will get a Worthy Competetor in the name or MAC OS.Linux, fresbds nothing has ever been able to prove superior than windows to the non-geeky masses.Think ... this might mean the end of windows dominanceCheers

Microsoft Being Behind !!!! I really disagree with that ... microsoft was the first GUI based OS i had ever seen. true linux has been around for a long time but only in recent times has linux been USABLE at all. I have a old intel 800MHzs computer with 64 mb ram and a MPEG2 based graphic card. I have never been able to install linux on that, not even the lastest versions from fedora and mandrake (mandriva) etc ... But Windows 98 works perfectly. And the MS-DOS which brought PCs into people's home ... how can we over look that. I fell people are unneccessarily ganging up on microsoft ! Fire fox and internet explorer are no difference when it comes to speed except for when pipelining is enabled and that too only for broadband connections. (Try cablenut and IE will seem faster ) Many sites take ages to load on Firefox and many graphics simply dont load at all !!! However everthing looks perfect in IE. How many of us make sites compatible with IE ... and how many really bother to check how it looks on forefox ? ) Fine, tabbed browsing is great in Fire Fox ... but its not something so great also ( i know many will disagree) It was opera that came up with it in the first place but plp never went crazy for it I feel many have started using Firefox only because there has been such a hype about it and everyone is talking about it ... Firefox first edition had numerous bugs but no 1 complained cause it was kept under covers. Fire Fox has come out with the 4th release ... 3rd in under 4 months !!! And still we talk about IE. Atleast microsoft has the guts to warn plp about its faults ! And worst part being you have to install the entire s/w again to update it. After installing SP2 i have not found any new updates ... or any problems in using IE. And the pop-up blocker is just perfect. Unlike firefox which has lack of control And there are soo many things that dont work with firefox ... try ftp access for instance ... after some time the entire explorer.exe will crash ! Windows is a great OS and they have great features ... even linux cannot be compared. Just because its free does not mean its the best ! I just got a new compaq laptop and installed windows xp and linux on it. While windows gives me a whole 3hrs backup ... linux sucks the batteries in just above 1 hr. This alone is enough reason for me to stick with windows. There are lot of options available for browsers and even OS now ... but i strongly feel people should not make comments about windows without seeing the true facts and pictures. How many of us have actually re-searched and made a sensible decision to ditch IE for firefox ? 85% people move to firefox only because they have HEARD its good and fast ... but they dont know that 90% of such comments are made by people using pirated versions of windows and who have screwed there systems running illegal softwares with loads of virus and spywares ! Think Cheers

Don't Remove the Windows Messenger. Many times due to server load MSN Messenger does not work ... But during this time Windows Messenger is able to get you logged on.May be this is because MSN Messenger also displays adverts and other zones. Takes up more bandwidth.Just Dissable the Messenger you are not using.Cheers

Which Hosting Of Trap 17 Should I Choose plan 1 or plan 2
varunone replied to ausnrl's topic in Web Hosting Support
I suggest as soon as you get 10 points get the hosting and check out the service ... then anyways later on they allow you to upgrade. And by the time you upload your site and test you can try making more points. Also if you are getting your own domain name then it'll take 2 days for the DNS records to get updated ... so better get the 10 points hosting and set everything up ... and during the 2days dead period try getting your points up to 30 and then update your hosting plan.Cheers -
Gmail Drive is not all that good also... Though gmail allows 10mb of file size above 4mb the uploads stop and give error. Also everything becomes a email and your Mail box get all cramped up.Yes i know we can use lables n all but reall ... try something like https://www.idrive.com/ or http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Cheers.

varunone replied to candicej's topic in Operating Systems
There something or the other always wrong with Fedora ... sometimes the sound, other times the display. Redhat use to be so good ... god knows what happened.Try Mandrake ( madriva - new name ) Its actually really simple to use and faster than most linux destros.Cheers -
Fastest Antivirus & Firewall Software
varunone replied to Inspiron's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Just found out about avast anti virus from https://www.avast.com/de-de/index seems its very good with built in firewall and realtime internet traffic scanner. Also has email, messenger scaners etc ... A close friend highly recoments it Check it out ... and its FREE Cheers -
Normally HAL.DLL is cause of error in boot.ini but if its happening alot could be cause of a virus. Might be that the system got infected and Norton was not able to detect it.Many virus programs destroy the anti virus software also.Try running an online scan from norton's website or try a new anti virus program.Try avast from avast.com it also has a built in firewall and internet traffic scanner. And its FREE.Cheers.

I think the real problem was that once you install Linux on your system it installs a Boot Loader in the Master Boot Record of your Harddisk. Try running the command - c:\fdisk -mbr from a windows startup disk next time to clean the boot loader and then it should work fine. i.e incase i am right about the cause Cheers.

Sorry now they r called MandrivaCheck out http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Cheers -
Fastest Antivirus & Firewall Software
varunone replied to Inspiron's topic in Security issues & Exploits
Actually AVG had the smallest foot print then any other anitvirus software available in the matket. Its takes very small amount of memory and cpu time slice. And for the firewall try the free version of Zone Alarm (its better than the paid version) SO You have the fastest suite of antivirus + firewall for complete protection and that too free of cost -
Every one is taking about dreamweaver, i just got the opportunity to try out Microsoft Publisher 2003 which came with Microsoft Office 2003.This is the most amazing peace of software i have seen recently. You can really come up with some amazing sites in seconds ... it comes with loads of templates so creating a site is as simple as following the wizard ( simply keep clicking next )Really Cool Try ItCheers.

I feel for girl friends and wife who do not wish to get stuck with the complications of coding a website, something like Microsoft WORD or openoffice.org will be best. The word processor allows you to simple drag n drop images to add to your site and i am sure most of the ladies would have had some experience on word processors.Microsoft Word is the easiest for designing a simple site with no complications.Give it a shot.Cheers.PS : Dont except hifi features ... unless you have Office 2003 suite ...

Netscape Is Back? The return of Netscape browser
varunone replied to heavensounds's topic in Software
I tried Netscape 8.0 ... i suggest stay away from it ! Its seems like a bad IE clone, hogs memory and does not show sites properlyI have been using firefox for sometime now but i feel IE displays the site best and the fastest. Also Firefox and netscape sometimes do not display certain photos/graphics on sitesm which is very weird !Cheers -

I have been using firefox since the day it was launched and frankly speaking its got nothing that IE doesnot. With Extensions available for IE you can have tabbed browsing without firefox.Infact since IE is embeded into the OS its lighter on the machine. A windows machine will takes ages for firefox window to appear after you have clicked on the icon while IE comes almost instantly.Probably the only reason why i am still using firefox is cause it lets me tweak the setting for pipeline.EnjoyCheers.
