  1. We all know that keeps expanding ... but is really happening ? Do we really have an unlimited account with google ?Actually Gmail is increasing the rate in such a way that on their 3rd aniversary the size is exactly 3GB. When they will give you an additional 1 GB and finally stop at 4GB. So i believe this account is finally going to be around 4gb in size and then from their 4th aniv onwards they'll be giving new features besides normal e-mail. So you see its all a game of numbers. And there are some rumours that Gmail will also go public on their 3rd aniv ... Whats next ? G-hosting ? ... please please .. :-DCheers
  2. Hey Serverph, Tried Checking your site ... its not opening ... http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Says Not Found... Thought You Should Know. Cheers
  3. Does this also mean i can have both types of e-mail addressesmyname@Xisto.comandmyname@freehost.xisto.comwith pop3 access ?Sorry forgot to ask this earlier :-)
  4. May be i can do it for Xisto ... Open Offer ... anyone listening ?
  5. With so many people using Xisto i was wondering with the admins would allow more skins.Would be nice to have a fresh look once in a while.
  6. I think its not a problem of current technology but that of new technology. Its just that new things are coming out so fast, that month old computers are becoming granddaddies of the electronic age.I had bought a new laptop a Compaq Presario v2036 and a week later i saw the ad for a newer version with better specs and far more better features, and the same price ... felt like a fool then ... wished i had waited. And thats what happen when plp develop new s/w ... they think ull have the latest technology and they 4get about the plp still stuck with old technology.Take example of Longhorn .. the os is not even out yet but the s/w for it is readily available ... !!!Anyways i bet your system must be slow because of your anti virus s/w. If you have no spyware or virus etc ... anti virus s/w is responsible for 76% of the computers booting slow. I bet u have a mcafee or norton.Cheers.
  7. okie the formatting of my dump chart got spoiled there ... but i hope u get the idea :-)Cheers
  8. I am sorry i should have been more clear.I mean can i host two domains ... like http://forums.xisto.com/AND trap17.org/ ?
  9. May be we can have some system... like a program running on our computer that doubles as a web server and transfers the files between Gmail n our web site visitor.I know its pointless cause then we can host the damn server on our comp itself. But if its a php kind of a system then we can have it run on another server. Its like this...Gmail -------> PHP Program -------> End User (person who visits <------ running on a <------- our web site) web serverThis way since the intermidiate server will be only a program running some where we can have 2gb storage of gmail at our hands to exploit.I know it might be a dunb idea since the intermidiate server will still requre to be of high bandwidth but we get a good 2gb of space out of it.Hot any type of file u like ... plus easy uploading of files ... email em :-DCheers
  10. Notice from snlildude87: Was originally in the Guest section (wrong forum), so I moved it here. Please do not post in the wrong forum again. I know you posted this thread there strategically, but it has to go in the correct forums since admins read ALL forums. I want to know something ... if i host my domain with you .. say 111.my1stdomain.com and add another domain later 222.my2nddomain.com (as other members tell me that instead of changing the domain name u can add new ones ) will i be able to access folder like http://222.2nddomain.com/mysite/index.html which is actually http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ ??? Please tell me ... And have a great day. Cheers
  11. I was just sitting and staring at the enormous 2GB of space G-mail is giving us. Every second the space is increasing, as can be seen on their web site's home page. I know there are shell's available that allow G-mail t be used for file storage. But is there a way we can use G-mail for hosting or something. So much of space going to waste. IF we could use even a fraction of it for hosting ... it will be of great help. Say what ? Cheers.
  12. Hi Lamode,I have used Msn Plus, but i really dont like it very much. Some how it did not work properly and crashed a lot.Anyways the s/w is in english you can try it if u like.Nopes sorry i am not the programmer for this s/w. Though i do some programming i dont advertise my program on forums.Plus my site is also down not ... my host shut down and i am still waiting for Xisto to activate my hosting ... which is taking quite long ... but i am hanging in there :-(Cheers
  13. I would like to begin by pointing out that "traditional skills and ways of life are not automatically of one country, but of a culture or community. I many ways the history of civilization is the history of technology: from the discovery of the fire to the invention of the wheel to the development of the internet, we have been moving on from previous ways of doing things. Some technologies, such as weapons of mass destruction are of negative impact. Others, such as medical advances, positively help people to live better or longer, and so very much help traditional ways of life. Surely, few people would seek to preserve such traditions as living in caves!Interestingly, technology can positively contribute to the keeping alive of traditional skills and ways of life. For example, the populations of some islands are too small to have normal schools. Rather than breaking up families by sending children to the mainland, education authorities have been able to use the internet to deliver schooling online. In addition, the internet and the modern refrigeration techniques are being used to keep alive the traditional skills of producing salmon; it can now be ordered from, and delivered to, anywhere in the world. In conclusion, without suggesting that all technology is necessarily good, I think it is by no means 'pointless', in any way, to try to keep traditions alive with technology. We should not ignore technology, because it can be our friend and support our way of life.
  14. I believe that those who have been gifted with knowledge and experience, and those who have the power should utilize it for the betterment of others so that the entire world can rise together.Poor health and lack of education are the two main reasons why underdeveloped countries are left in suffering and richer nations do have the power and resources to help these unfortunate ones to rise. It seems senseless to allow the poor nations to go through the suffering if one has the ability to free them of the pain. Not only will the poorer nation spend more money and waste resources in over coming health problems but these problems will leave them more crippled. Also education is the birth right of each and every individual and the richer nations should help in spreading this and establish a better future for the coming generations. At this point I would like to take the example of the tsunami disaster that left a scar on the face of the earth, leaving millions to scum to their own deaths. However due to the responsible actions of many, a lot of people have lived to see the light of a better future ahead, for their families and generations to come. Had it not been for the support of many, the very few remaining would have also perished. It is not a lot that is demanded or expected from those who have but a small token can bring an entire nation out from the pit falls of poverty from which they might take ages to arise from on their own.I would like to conclude by saying that it is not compulsory for the richer nations to take responsibility of poorer ones but a little help will only result in a better tomorrow for allComments ?

  21. Hello all,I just got my hands on the Microsoft Publisher, which comes with the Microsoft Office 2003.I feel this is the best website designing tool ... much better than Dreamwevar and the likes.I had finished making my site in under 10mins. Also the menu options, to put on your site are very good n advance. The best part is that it not only lets you create fully customizable sites without knowing absolutely anything about HTML, it also allows you to do other publishing tasks like making greetings, stationary, visting cards etc. This is not an advert, but i think people should try it out.PS : the size of the HTML site created is often more than it would be if ull code in pure HTML ... but the simplicity and features rocks.Cheers
  22. Cool, So i think i can make a dos batch file or a simple program for the purpose ... that is if you are correct about the approach ... but how do i connect an external key to a internal program.I think it might have to do with the ATX technology.I'll search on it more ... until then if some one gets closer please post :-)Cheers.
  23. Sorry forgot to add .. this is not a cat n mouse fight between the IE and Firefox fans ...I am just a computer programmer who has been bit by IE like all of us, but just want to support the true reasons.1. Fast Browsing ( only because of pipelining ... try cablenut n IE will be faster )2. Extensions ( many available for IE also ... goggle )3. Secure ( IE 6.0 + SP2 ... much more secure )4. Pop-up blocker ( IE 6.0 pop-up blocker is much advance and user friendly then forefox )5. Java ( There is no proof that java is better support in firefox it depends on your comps congif and the version on java u r using .. probably )all these reasons are crap ... and tabs are a matter of choice (for IE get msn toolbar n ull get tabs )If any one else has any other reasons why firefox is better then please let me know.Until them i am using both (yes i use firefox ... quite regularly) with preference to IE .. offcourseCheers
  24. I agree that firefox is open source but most of us dont know is that windows allow you to have the source of IE free of cost if you are developing something based on IE. How else you think so many extensions have come up for IE. (The most popular being yahoo integration as an example ) There is lot of support available try MSDN.But the fact really is that we are actually comparing Firefox a new browser with a old, very old IE. But if we include SP2 and IE 6.0, which are of the same age as Firefox then we see no plus points for firefox.A lot of people are saying that firefox is better, its faster and no spyware ! these people are comparing only with the IE that was there until last year. I believe IE 6.0 along with SP2 is the most secure browser.People having IE 6.0 have had no problems and its pop-up blocker and privacy engine has literally kill spyware. And then when u already have this..why over load your system with another browser ?!Think ...Cheers
