  1. Hi there. I've been tempted to post some topics related to Mexican news, but I wonder how many of the Xisto active members are Mexican and willing to discuss this kind of affairs. So if you're Mexican and/or living in Mexico, please let us know. Thanks in advance!Digitalidad from Mexico City
  2. Hi, SM!It's very good and very creative indeed, but excuse my ignorance: is it a 3D render? It looks like a vector drawing to me or maybe freehand and photoshop. What did you use to make it?Best regards!P.S.What is that of "A.S.M.A." I saw in a SIG? I suppose it's a private joke. Right?
  3. Beware people with epilepsy! This side can give you a really bad attack! I agree there should be some kind of warning (with a plain white background and black letters) before entering the site. This is far more serious than porn! It reminds me of the sites people used to design back in 1998 or so. I couldn't stand it enough to find the date anywhere but probably it was abandoned a decade ago :DBTW I also hate sites with a lot of white text on a black background. Don't you? But... This site definitely gets the prize for the most eye defying site!Also... Did you consider that with all our visits it's gonna get a very good ranking There's a saying in PR that says something like: make them talk about you good or bad, doesn't matter much. What's important is to get their attention towards you.
  4. It looks like a swiss knife to me. Am I right? Again, I think it would look better without the blur. Do you think VRay is the best program out there for rendering? I've heard it's quite popular now.
  5. I think natural selection still and will always play a role in evolution. If a baby is born weak or with birth defects it will probably die without mating. Even laws support that insane people can't get married, for example. Also, it's not that easy for anyone to get a couple nowadays. Females are always selective and they have that kind of hardwired. There's indeed science in their choices. They still choose males because they're physically gifted, for example, altough the main reason for them to pick yo up is something deeper. It has to do with you being or not an Alpha male or behaving or not like one. That's deep and needs a post itself!
  6. Hi there, guys!Anybody has already started with this? It would be great to hear what's your experience with the program! BTW I tried to sign up today but the captcha image just doesn't show. Any comments?Best regards!
  7. I think that's plain stupid! They (your government) should be putting bad guys in jail instead of telling good citizens where to hide. The streets belong to citizens, not to criminals! That is like accepting they're a zero for battling insecurity and crime. I live in Mexico, so believe me, we know a lot about that topic! Our authorities are just as dumb and corrupt. Now we say we live prisoners of insecurity Good luck!
  8. In Mexico the most popular e-commerce site is Mercado Libre (http://www.mercadolibre.com.mx/), which is now part of eBay anyhow. After it, I think the most popular is Segunda Mano (https://www.segundamano.mx/). If you want to know about the rating of any site in any country, you can visit Alexa Here and you'll find that exact information. They have listings of the most popular sites in the world and by country. It's very useful indeed.
  9. That's amazing! I just love having so much technology around that you can catch things like that! There's a saying in the news business: "a ran over guy around the corner gets more people's attention than a bomb at the other side of the world" (or something like that. That's the idea). So if you're watching the US TV or in a US website probably they didn't know about it or rather talked about something else.BTW I thought you were talking about a guy who threw fireballs like in the video games!
  10. That's a pretty bad thing indeed. Some companies expect to make a profit out of service rather than out of products, so they frequently charge you for support. That's common in the software industry, but I would have never imagined that kind of business would charge you like that. I agree with you. They should have told you in advance the cost of the call. Now, employees sometimes just do what they're told and don't see any further, they don't think about the damage a stupid policy is doing to the business they get a living from. A business policy is not strict. A policy is a guide of action only, so if you consider that in a special way you should act in a different way, you can do. However, the pity is that some managers don't see it that way either and will be very strict until they face a problem due to that. In this case, if what happened to you is very recurrent, they'll eventually lose a lot of customers and will have to close. Let's hope their management notices what the problem is before it's too late for their good and their customers'.
  11. Thanks for your comments, Echo_of_thunder! In fact the oldest drawings were made with a simple pencil on a -most of the times- recycled sheet of paper. I also have in the gallery some works drawn with Corel Draw -vector format- like the one of the vampire guy. (Vectors are so good for printing!) Finally, I'm starting to use 3D software like Carrara. The handful of golden coins and the compass of money are made with that. At work I use the same tools, so probably it would be a good idea to upload some of the stuff I make at work too. Best regards!
  12. Hello everyone and thanks for your posts. It's been very interesting to hear your opinions. When you mentioned that if a country makes drugs legal every other country would want to do the same I remembered Amsterdam, where you can go to a coffee shop and buy drugs - I even have a friend who went to Amsterdam and bought a very nice cake without knowing it was made with drugs! The Dutch have allowed the sales of certain drugs in certain quantities and after certain age. As you say, legalizing drugs is possible provided it is done carefully. As far as I know Amsterdam is very liberal but it's not Sodoma (or is it? ). It's supposed to be a very modern place. However, I think there you can have a sick kind of tourism. People wanting to go there just to buy and use drugs, which doesn't sound very attractive for locals!
  13. I agree with you. Many crimes are committed under the influence of drugs. Cowards get the guts to do all kind of stupid things like robbery and murder. People get violent with drugs. Peace.
  14. Thanks a lot for your comments, Puneye! Indeed, I used 3D software for that one. It was modeled in Hexagon and rendered in Carrara 6. Oh, yes! The face of the compass was made in Corel Draw X4 and then imported into Carrara for the final render. In fact DA is a very inspirational site. You can find a lot of fine art there!
  15. Thanks a lot for your comments. I sometimes use gradients, as you suggest, only that as I said before most of the stuff I uploaded at DA were quick sketches. I suppose I should take more time to make drawings better Now, talking about gradients, I've seen some drawings using mesh fills (like the ones in Illustrator) and it looks like you can make wonderful things with that tool! Google it!
  16. XD it sounds funny but it may be true! It's well known that many politicians and police members use illegal drugs, but I don't think they're doing this just to buy drugs freely. Anyway, they do use drugs with no problem today! What would be the difference? As for the kind of drugs, they started talking about pot for therapeutical use, but now they're talking about all kinds of drug in order to make it something so common that people -drug users that is- wouldn't need to go to a drug dealer to buy it and so cartels would lose power. Now... I wonder... Would it be possible to get crack at Walmart then? That would be way too weird! And would it be available only to the grown ups, like cigarettes now? I guess so.
  17. They say that an alcoholic person drinks:1. If something good happens to him, to celebrate,2. If something bad happens to him, to feel better about it, and3. If nothing happens, just to make something happen!I think it's funny but true. Drunkards always have a reason to drink.According to psychology, a person becomes a heavy drinker because he has a big background of bad things that happened to him/her. It's not just about liking alcohol, it's about their experiences in life. They want to escape from their reality. Some say that there's a sort of genetic predisposition if your parents were alcoholic, but I think it's not genetic. It's that you grow up watching that behavior and finally you -sadly- imitate it.
  18. Nowadays, in my country people are talking about how ineffective the government has been in the drug war; it looks like the drug cartels are a huge mafia taking over the country. They have so much power that kill people by dozens and nobody seems to be able to stop them. "You get into their game or die" they say.So, some politicians are suggesting the legalization of drugs in order to diminish the power of cartels: if anybody can buy drugs freely, the cartels will go out of business and people will not be so attracted to using them (?). They also stress the importance of a parallel program for making people aware of the damages drugs cause to their health and so they try to decrease the number of new addicts. They say that it would happen the same as in Al Capone's times, when alcohol was illegal. It suddenly was legal and demand diminished and the mafia became less powerful. What do you think that would happen if drugs were made legal? Thanks in advance for your opinion on this!
  19. Yeah! My brother and me spent countless hours (and money ) playing Contra. Oh, the good old days! We could never beat the game at the drugstore where we used to play, but years later we got it for the NES I think and made the lives trick Veradesigns mentioned and we could finally beat it. So many memories!... Sweet lasers and shotguns! XD
  20. Hi! I downloaded the PSD file but I think I missed something... where are you planning to use the new banner and what's its purpose? Shall we modify the PSD you uploaded or make something different according to the Xisto site? What kind of message (text) will it have?Thanx!
  21. Thanks a lot for your comments, contactskn. It's relieving to know at least someone likes my "art". I was thinking about adopting another hobby, like bullfighting or hunting alligators with my own bare hands xD . Let's hope I get some more feedback. Good luck!
  22. I see no reason to get upset. In the end human beings do whatever requires the least work, whatever is easier. No much thinking and no much learning is easier, and also in today's corporate world you sometimes need really fast solutions. I started to build my sites directly coding HTML with a notepad and later moved on to FrontPage because it's easier to use and it's "visual" (WYSIWYG... nearly), but I agree about learning: there are sometimes things in FP that look weird and I have to modify the code directly.I also learned some ASP because I needed to and I started with a form that was already made and started to modify it. I say if you've got the time and the interest to learn, go ahead. Today it's much much easier than some years ago when there was no internet access for mortals like us. Now, If you're in a hurry or have other interests, go get help like Joomla's.And I know coders may feel frustrated about other people doing easily what they learned so hard, but such is life. I've got a degree in BA and everybody thinks he's a great administrator without spending 4 yrs. at college But then we have to show them just how effective we are and that we can get further than them because we know the basics and are specialized. Be cool!
  23. Hi, guys! I see that you're very helpful with rating sites and all that. Well my site isn't ready (again) yet, but I'll ask you to review it soon. Meanwhile, I wonder what the heck is going on with my DeviantArt page. I get hardly any visits and nearly no comments at all *sniff sniff* Please go to this place and tell me your opinion about my drawings. Some are very old and most of them were made really quick but I think they should give you an idea of my style (if I have one indeed). And if you can, leave some comments there too. I'd really appreciate your kind help with this. So... Go ahead and shoot! This is the URL: DA page Best regards and thanks in advance!
  24. This is what I'd call a very old set of urban legends :DQueen - another one bites the dust - played backwards says "I wanna smoke mari...na", some songs by the Doors; even songs in Spanish like Jose Jose's "Volcan" and many others. I think people just looks for hidden meanings for fun and there's nothing there. But there are also songs that really have a hidden backwards message on purpose, there's one by Gloria Trevi, but I don't remember the name... I remember once a guy told me that his brother used to consume drugs and listen to a song about a snake by the Doors and that when he has under the influence he could hear the hidden instructions for something -getting even more doped I guess-. I asked this guy "BTW, does your brother speak English", he replied "No". No comments... Now, there's a book about subliminal advertising that says that supermarkets play messages at a very low volume at the same time as the bg music saying "I need to buy more" "I shall not steal" and stuff like that. I wonder if it's true. That same book has many more examples of subliminal messages used in the cinema, printed ads, etc. Try and read some of that stuff just for fun
  25. Hi! What's that "A.S.M.A." thing? Are they jealous because you're the bigger poster? :)

    All the best!
