  1. Hmmm... this is a little late, but maybe interesting for other people... :You could try installing 'Lyx' ; KDE also has an editor called 'kile'And there is a tool called latex2pdf which you can run from command line.
  2. Check your command syntax and parameters; something could be wrong with them.
  3. As we all know, practice makes perfect. So I was wondering if we could have an 'exercises/assignments' forum/subforum in the Tutorials section? Where people can practice their skills and ask for help if they are stuck with the assignment.
  4. I noticed you did not close the <div> tag at the top... you should or you are going to have problems with it. Also if you put an opening tag, you should put a corresponding closing tag. Not sure if you heard about xhtml, otherwise W3schools has a very good tutorial about it. It's pretty easy to write valid Xhtml and it might save you a lot of problems when designing and developing. In fact you should always validate your Html with something like Html Tidy if you are hand-creating webpages or page elements; sometimes your CSS does not work right when the (x)html code is 'bad'. Personally I use a free Html editor called Html-Kit to create my pages in.
  5. I have a Nokia 6300 as well... very happy with it, it would be perfect if only the battery life would last a little longer...
  6. I'm using OpenSUSE 11.0 right now... although I started out with Mandrake (now: Mandriva). For the non-adventurous I suggest sticking to KDE 3.5.9 though and avoid KDE4 until OpenSUSE 11.1 comes out, should be much better in that regard. It's great: I just installed my first LAMP (Linux/Apache/MySql/Php) environment and manager to install Modx CMS on it... perhaps I should make a tutorial sometime... overall it was easy but there were a few tricky things to it...
  7. Well, you learn it through experience... if you want to be good, you have train often at least 2 times a week preferrably 3x or more. My dojo did an extra session with weapons (Jo staff and Bokken wooden sword), that helps a lot to for your posture. If at a point you have practiced a lot but you seem stuck, try to read a book on Aikido philosophy. The founder has nice poems and there's a guy... I think calles John(?) Stevens or something like that who wrote a pretty good book on the subject.
  8. Well... there are also martial arts that are not (that) agressive at all, such as Aikido (which I practiced for a while) and Tai Chi (which seems to be half martial art / half meditation).
  9. Python is a pretty easy language to start with, see tutorials here: http://www.pygame.org/wiki/tutorials
  10. Thanks! I'd be interested in learning PHP, seeing that I'm using Modx as a CMS (Linux+Apache+MySQL+PHP)... also my Javascript skills could use a boost, as well as building regular expressions.
  11. You mean 'Pokemon-style' game... because... if you are going to use the name 'Pokemon' (or perhaps even the names of the creatures) some lawyers might come after you... especially if you intend to distribute it. Not very likely, but possible. Just look at what happened to The Silver Lining (formerly KQ9... a fan-based successor to King's Quest 7&8). They were allowed to work on it, but that's a best-case scenario. I'm not 100% sure if it's O.K. when you distribute it for free though... might be okay then.But... it's good to hear people using and expanding RPGmaker... personally I'm a big fan of Laxius Power series (RPG Maker-made) and also Aveyond and Everlong.
