  1. Hey
Did you know that colored stones also have a similar effect ?
If and when used properly, They can also heal ailments ;)

And If you know the proper stones, they can also increase luck and other mental attributes.

I googled and found this Gemstones

Though it doesn't contain all the stones, but still its few of the common ones that you can easily find.

Gemstones work on a similar principle .. i.e. Light ;)

You lost some files due to the blackout .. remove and resintall the game. That should work .. Were you running the game from an image ?

  3. Not a valid Win32 application problem

Error Not A Valid Win32 Application

Hi! Every time I pop in a CD or DVD in my new Lite-On DVDRW LH-20A1H LLOC with Lightscribe drive, the message "not a valid win32 application" is displayed. This happens with any CD or DVD that work fine in other PCs (wiht the same Windows XP Prof Ed as mine).

This DVDRW drive came with a bundled Nero 7.7 software, which I installed (thinking it was the best match for this drive). It refused to burn multi-session CD's or DVD's, and could not read the CDs or DVDs it burned. I also got the overly redundant message "advrcntr2.Dll not found" (though the file was there and was NOT corrupted).

I uninstall ed Nero 7.7, then "downgraded" my old Nero to 6.6.08 which worked fine in the past. For about 2-3 weeks, this Nero version worked fine. One day, it refused to continue multi-session discs, then later insisted those discs had I/O device errors (though those discs worked fine in other PCs). Then the drive began to not read any discs it burned. Then it began to display "advrcntr2.Dll not found" every time I open a folder with any video or audio files. Nero advised me to run their General Cleaner tool and Registry Fix, which I did. I also defragmented my 2 hard disks twice. The dll error stopped, but now I could not re-install Nero or any other program.

Then the drive stopped reading any CD or DVD's altogether. Every time I pop in any CD or DVD, the error message "not a valid win32 application" is displayed.

I checked for viruses and worms (even Sub7, Ravmon, etc), and my PC has turned up clean. No autorun.Inf file or any .Dlls from worms. I re-installed WinXP from boot-up (since even the Windows installation disk could not be recognized and the "not a valid win32 application" error comes up too). No CD or DVD can still be read. I de fragmented my disks again and again, ran registry fix, ran HJT, etc and re-installed Windows one more time. I also saved the registry fix 5 recommended on one forum. Still no change. I ran chkdsk many times, but only the /are option was accepted. It kept saying that the /p option was not valid. Still no change.

I am at my wits' end. :4-don't know I have tried every single suggestion in every link I found on the net regarding this error message, and still no solution. :sigh: Please, can you help me out?

    Thanks very much.

I think the drive's lens alignment has failed. Hence the drive is not able to read/write properly. If its under warranty get it replaced. Did you try connecting this drive to any other system ?

  4. Thanks Truefusion.. I ran into another problem. I installed SLAX on my pendrive and tried to boot with the pendrive but Couldn't boot. I guess my motherboard doesn't support that. I'll have to wait till i get my system back. I was trying this on my old Laptop ;)and I got confused with the tutorial you gave too ;)should i run the commands from a dos prompt ? or from a running linux System ? (I dont have linux installed )and Can there be an easier way ? like in the case of slax.. I just have to copy the files and run a batch file

  5. @ razoredge

    I am sorry , I feel like a spammer myself. ;)

I was a bit frustrated when I wrote all that .. plz don't mind me

You are right, may be i shouldn't be experimenting with this machine.. but i can't help it since this is the only machine left with me for a few months.

    And thanks for google solution

    But it didn't work .. I can't find "C:\Winnt\Servicepackfiles\I386" folder. But i managed to find "wuapi.dll " It was located in C:\Windows\System32

I tried the command with that , and it did run .. but the automatic updates are still disabled ..

Guess I am left with a quick restore option only.. (It is a legit copy, it came with the machine)

I will wait for two days before going with the system restore .. may be someone would come up with a better option. ;)

  6. Well Ntune is not designed for just a specific card. So it gives you a whole lot of control over how much and what all you can overclock. In my case, Since both my Card and Motherboad are Nvidia based, I can overclock my processor, Ram or Graphics card from the Ntune utility :)I won't try it , since I need to set up a proper cooling solution for it first. And hey Saint Michael ;), Ntune does screw up bad. I found it the hard way too ..Once my FX 5200 was burnt and i couldn't even get it replaced since the card was out of warranty ;)

  8. @Razoredge

This system is generally on a network most of the time .. otherwise we don't use it .

Security is thus required , personal and sometimes confidential data.

We have two networks - both wired and are 100 % secured. One is through a proxy + firewall. It has a two stage scanning for Virus and Malicious softwares

and the second is at home, Its through an adsl modem/router. Just a firewall + antivirus on my system.

And theres something called as an autoupdate on the Antivirus also and yes its working..

You can say, i like experimenting with things..

I suppose you didnt understand the problem and have no idea about whats wrong with my system and were here just for the sake of writting something.

  9. Where did you read about windows 7? I have yet to even read about this?
I can't believe there gona stop selling there currently best O.S. That's ridiculous I mean why would they do this to all the XP users and or future XP users?

    Google is your friend..

    Try looking for it

  10. i want to install win xp and remove vista completely how should i do it and what to do in bios set up

Running Bios Setup On A Dell Inspiron 8000 Laptop

I had dell 1525 and I am learning advance languages but I am not able to do programming so I decided to install windows xp and remove vista, how should I do it and what changes have to be done in bios set up,Please help me sort out my problem

    -question by ricx

Ok. First You need an XP CD. Do you have it ?

I would suggest you prepare a recovery Disk of the current operating system and other things that are currently installed, if you don't have that already. I think there is an option of creating a recovery disk in start menu > programs.

Second, I don't think you need to change anything in the bios set up. Most of the time first boot device it CD. If its not, Make it the first boot device.

And Oh ! I almost forgot. If your XP DOES NOT detect your hard disk - disable the Native SATA option under BIOS. But don't disable it before trying.

Third , Just put in the XP CD and boot. It should start installation. And when it gives the drive to choose. If you don't want Vista anymore You should go for the C: drive. Format and install on this.

Otherwise, Choose a second Drive, If its partitioned. But remember all the contents on the drive you install would be lost ;)

I think some hardware is corrupt on your system. Most probably the graphics card. Go for a replace or get your money back.

Power Supply is not the problem.

  12. Hi, I am quite a big n00b with Linux. I need help with this issue. I didn't want to install Linux on my hard-drive but still wanted to use it as a normal version not from a Live CD. I was looking for a Linux that can be installed on a pen drive. First I found SLAX and then I stumbled upon Russix, which is also based on SLAX. I like the security auditing part of Russix. ;) Now , SLAX can be installed on a Pendrive. Can anyone help me with Russix ? I need to install Russix on a Pen Drive How do i do that ?

  13. Hi all,
I was loking for a software to recover my lost files and I found this ;)

And the best part is , its free

    Recuva - File Recovery

Recuva (pronounced "recover") is a freeware Windows utility to restore files that have been accidentally deleted from your computer. This includes files emptied from the Recycle bin as well as images and other files that have been deleted by user error from digital camera memory cards or MP3 players. It will even bring back files that have been deleted by bugs, crashes and viruses!

    Download it from - /recuva

I've used it and its working fine for me.. and even a noob can use it.

  14. Thanks for the reply ppl appreciated :)1. @magiccode9 - I tried it and when i started the services.msc , it said disabled under Autoupdate. I thought turning it back to Auto will solve the problem but It didn't. So I tried to start it manually. But When I click on 'Start' it gave me an error 1058. Now I don't know what that is, but when i googled I figured its the same error as I am getting > Autoupdate disabled. But there were no resolutions.2. @coolcat50 - I think you didn't read my post properly. I've tried it already ;)3. @Saint Michael - I tried this but it says automatic under that. Its not a big drive, its only 60 GB. but the thing is there are many softwares that came bundled with the system and I don't have a cd for those. I might loose them. I don't think a simple copy and paste would work with these. If it were only my documents I would have done that already. NE other suggestions besides the reinstall part ;) ?Oh.. and I will put up that firewall but can it handle proxies and wireless networks ? bcoz most of the time this system works on a proxy network or though a wireless network. This is not my system actually, its my dad's. And if he finds out its screwed , :) he'll screw me

  15. Hi, I have this Sony system with XP SP2 installed and It got infected with a virus. It came as an attachment and I thought its a legit file since NOD32 found it clean. It was suspicious bcoz of its size (<99KB) but I thought Why not give it a try. And when it unpacked, it turned out to be a trojan horse :)So NEways, I managed to clean up the system (0% traces of any suspicious activities so far) but since then my Auto-Update is turned off.If it were to be a pirated copy, I wouldn't have cared much but this is LEGIT ;)Can anyone guide me on how to turn on the Automatic updates or may be reinstall it manually. Thanks in advance..For those of you thinking about tell me to turn it on from the control panel>security Centre -- > I've tried it and its not working ;)P.S.I don't want to loose my data so I don't want to reinstall windows

  16. I don't think XP SP4 is going to be out soon enough.. even though i have a legit copy of XP pro i haven't installed SP3 either.. whats the need ?? I don't think many of users even bother about these fixes unless its there in the autoupdate ;) If I can see its working fine I don't think it needs a fix.. and besides, Microsoft screws up something or the other with each of their fixes so I won't take chances.
