  1. According to the test, I'm going to live until I'm 84.Only 63 more years to go...what am I going to do with all that time?
  2. When I was at a hospital once, there was a computer with step by step instructions on a sign above it, explaining how to tun it off. lol I thought that was pretty silly. And what happens when someone wants to turn it on? Another thing I read was on the back of a packet of blu-tack it said That's good because I just hate when posters slide off my horizontal wall...
  3. I was bullied for pretty much all of year 6 at school. The worst part was that it was by my best friends who had been my friends for a previous 2 years since I had started at that school. My teacher told me ... So in other words, while they're making fun of you, make fun yourself while they're at it. Yeah that'll really work.... Then I was bullied again for 3 years after starting at a new high school. I just ignored it. I didn't really care so much this time because none of them really knew me anyway. The only problem was I didn't have any friends. It stopped in year 11 when all the bullies left school. I was able to make friends then so it was pretty good after that. Anyway, I'm glad there are people out there who are standing up to bullies. I wish I had done it more. I'd have loved to have given them a taste of their own medicine! The first time I think I was too nice and the second time I didn't really care. Oh well...
  4. I know what you mean. I'm studying maths as part of my University course.Anyway, our text book explains how to do one part of a problem and then will say 'because of this, then obviously this must mean...'It's very annoying, and it makes the reader feel kind of stupid if they don't know it, which is always the case for me...umm, that's why I'm doing this subject . I have kind of learned to ignore it though. I now block out the word 'obviously' when I'm reading my text book. It makes reading it much easier and less annoying.
  5. I think it depends what you us the Internet for, what sites you visit, and what/who you choose to believe on the Intrnet. If you go to the right websites and know where to look for things, and do things then I think that the Internet can actually make you smarter. If you go to the wrong websites though, and believe anything and everything that you read, I think the Internet can definitely make you stupid. I think the forums and chats where evry1 tlks lyk dis (sorry I'm not very good at that, I don't go to those places , but you get the idea...) can make people less smart too, because they're not learning to spell and punctuate properly...which could be a big problm later in life.So anyway, I voted 'yes' because even if the Internet doesn't make people stupid in all cases, the fact is it still CAN which is what I thought the question was asking.
  6. I like 'Heartless Creations' and 'Soul-Less', but if it is for a design company then I would choose 'Heartless Creations'...that's what I voted for.The name is catchy, and it sounds more like the name of a design company than any of the others.
  7. Wow...If there was no Internet, my life would be so different. I don't know what I'd do. I wouln't be studying for my University course in computer science. I certainly don't think that I would be studying externally from the university. I wouldn't be wasting half of my time working on my websites. I probably wouldn't even like computers at all. I remember I used to hate computers until I started using the Internet.I wouldn't have anywhere near as many friends as I do now. I'd have to find time to write to the friends I would have using pen and paper.I probably wouldn't know so much about things. I'd probably still be reading old text books and things. Yes, I used to read text books when I was little. I'm such a dork! lol The Internet has become a great resource for learning about many different things. And you get an up-to-date knowledge of things which ofetn you can't get from text books.I honestly have no idea what I would do. Most of my life is connected to the Internet in some way. I think life would be really boring without it. Although, I guess we wouldn't know any different because none of us would have heard of the Internet anyway. It's really interesting to think what the world would be like with no Internet. Good topic!
  8. I edited my .htaccess file and that was already written in there. I tried rewriting it your way as well just to be sure but it's still not working.I don't know what I'm doing wrong...Thanks for your help anyway.
  9. Hey, I never noticed this section before. Australia has it's own subforum. WOO! Go Aussies!Yes, I am an Aussie too. I'm from NSW. I have seen a few other Aussies around these forums but not that many. Oh well, we have our own subforum...you can't complain about that *Adds this forum to favourites so I can find it again*
  10. MSN 7 isn't a beta anymore...But yeah, I would try re-installing it. I can't really think what else to do. I've never heard of that problem before...
  11. That is very true. I think more needs to be done to help the ozone layer. It saddens me that there are so many people who don't seem to care about it. The hole in the ozone layer is affecting people today yet people don't seem to see that. Because of the hole in the ozone layer, the occurance of skin cancer has risen greatly over the last few decades, particularly in Australia. Still, people don't care.I was watching a documentary thing a few weeks ago about the effects of greenhouse gasses. They found that the hole in the ozone layer has actually caused the earth to heat up. So it's not just global warming that is causing the world to get warmer. Some scientists did a study in New York just after 9/11 when all the airoplanes were grounded. They found that during those few days that there were no planes in the air, the temperature rose by a few degrees. When the plains were able to fly again, the temperature dropped again back down to normal. They've found that pollution in the atmosphere is actually causing the world to cool down. Because Pollution particles are bigger than water...and pollution goes into the atmosphere and often ends up in clouds...the particles in clouds are bigger, meaning more heat from the sun is reflected. So now we're in a catch 22...If we reduce pollution, the world will heat because of the hole in the ozone layer. If we keep polluting though, the world will stay cool but the hole in the ozone layer will get bigger.I think we should reduce pollution though. If we don't do it now, the world's only gonna get more and more polluted, making the problem even bigger for later on when people do finally decide to do something...then it could be too late.
  12. I heard about that a while ago. For some reason I didn't think that it was that old...oh well. There was a documentary or something about it here a few months back and they said that the first group of scientists that looked at the skeleton made a mistake about saying that it was a new species and this new scientist said it was a pygmy person. There are still pygmys living around the islands of Indonesia where the skeleton was found so that is what I think is most likely. Somebody else said it was a child's skeleton, and someone else said that it was a person with this disease where they couldn't grow very tall or something but I think they were proven wrong.I don't believe in evolution so I'm going with the pygmy person...it makes sense and the scientist that said that still hasn't been proven wrong. And the pygmy people still living in Indonesia makes it even more plausible. That's just what I think anyway.
  13. I'm not in love. I've never been in love. I've had crushes but I've never actually dated anyone...so sad, I know. I'm used to it though, and it means I get to do whatever I want whenever I want so it's cool. I'm actually not sure how I would do in a relationship because I've been single for so long (I'm 21...) it would be kind of weird for me. Oh well...*shrugs* I know a few people who are like that. They're really different in real life to what they are on MSN. I think that both personalities are real in a way... On the Internet, people feel like they have less boundaries so are more likely to act the way they always want to act, but in real life they might be shy or something and don't act that way. If they're acting bad on MSN that might not be a good thing... In most cases I find that once you get to know a person more in real life they'll become more like that 'MSN' person. So yeah...if they're bad on MSN I would try and steer clear...but that's just from my experience though. I could be wrong...
  14. I can't seem to be able to get hotlink protection to work properly on my site. Whenever I enable it, none of the images on my site will show up.In the 'URL's to allow acces' box, I've got the URL to my site as well as the URLs to subdomains I've set up but when I click the 'Activate' button I can't see any of my pictures.I tried ticking the 'Allow direct requests' box, and then activating. I could see my pictures when I did that, but then I tried direct linking to one of my pics from my old web host and it showed up.Can someone help me? How can I get my images to show up on my website but not have anyone else be able to direct link them from their own site? Thanks
  15. For short distances, I like walking. You get to walk at your own pace and do what you want. For longer distances, I like the car. I love my car! ...and you get t do what you want, and get to where you're going whichever way you want.I like trains too for even longer distances that are over a few hours to travel. Trains are faster than cars so you get there sooner and don't have to sit down for so long. And for really long distances that would take over about 4 hours in a train, I like planes. They're probably the most exciting and interesting form of transport for me. I like the idea of being able to fly and go so fast...And it feels so cool when the plane's taking off!
  16. I don't see anything wrong with eating meat. People have been doing it for thousands of years...it's normal for us. Our bodies need meat to get different proteins from it in order to survive and be healthy. Even if you decide to become a vegetarian and not eat meat, you still have to get the protein from somewhere.I don't like the way a lot of the animals we eat are treated though, for example, chickens. For that reason, I choose not to eat chicken (plus I don't like the taste - yuck!). All the things they do to those chickens, and put in their bodies to make them grow faster is not only bad for te chicken, but bad for us too. What's been given/fed to the chicken while it was alive doesn't just disappear once it dies, it stays in the body and when the chicken is eaten...whoever eats the chicken gets all those hormones that have been injected into it too, which can't be very healthy.I think we should put the animals before the meat. I think eating an animal that has had a long and happy life is fine...it was going to die eventually anyway. Keeping animals locked up in tiny cages that they can hardly move in, and giving them growth hormones just for the sake of being able to eat them sooner is wrong. What kind of a life is that, being locked up in a cage your whole life with no natural light, and just being made to eat? I don't know about anyone else but that sounds very dull and boring to me. It'd be awful if you were clustraphobic...I think eating plants is fine too. People have been doing that for forever. Maybe they do feel pain...who knows? They do kind of "bleed" in a way so maybe? If we're not gonna eat plants though then what are we gonna eat? You can't live on just meat. You need both plants and meat to be healthy. Plus if we don't eat plants, and don't exercise, we'll all put on a heap of weight because we won't be getting any of these "negative calorie" foods.
  17. I've never heard of Beashare before...I like Kazaa Lite though. It's Kazaa but without the ads and without the spyware, and it's free :DMy brother used to use normal Kazaa. That was awful...way too much spyware! So I made him change
  18. I don't know about the best movie of all time...I'll leave it to the experts to decide that Like Sprnknwn said, there's too many genres...plus I think it's personal interest and tastes...Anyway, my favourite movies at the moment are both the Bad Boys movies, Men In Black 1 and 2, The Lord of the Rings movies, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Pirates of the Caribbean is really good....it's funny, and it keeps you thinking too. It's very clever!
  19. What part of trigonometry exactly are you having trouble with? If you tell me I might be able to help...My teachers always told me to make the study area as quiet as possible. Or, if you have to listen to music, listen to classical music because there's no words for you to sing along to and get caught up in.Another idea is to make up little tricks to remember things. eg. for SOHCAHTOA my class was taught to memorise it as "Soak a Toe(a)". That way you easily memorise the order that all the letters have to go in and all the rules that go with it.You could also make notes (like post-its or something) and stick them all around on the walls in your room, or in places around the house...preferebly in places you spend a lot of time. Whenever you're around the notes, make yourself read them. Pretty soon you should memorise what you've written on them.Hope this helps a little. Good luck with your exams!
  20. I love Mythbusters! I watch it every week.I can't help but laugh my head off every time they bring out that poor crash test dummy, Buster...man, that guy's been through a lot! lol...shot out of a cannon, spun around in a washing machine, blown up while going to the bathroom. Whenever Buster's involved, you know it's going to be good!My favourite myth....hmm, there's been a few. I liked the bathroom one where they poured all this stuff like gun powder and stuff down the toilet and then dropped a cigarette down there to see if it would blow up and burn the guy that was sitting on it.I also liked this one where they put dead pigs in a car, sealed the car up and left it for a few weeks (can't remember how long...) and then tested to see if it was true that they couldn't get rid of the smell. And then they tried to sell the car. It was so funny seeing all those people's faces when they showed up to see the car LOL!! I was so surprised they actually managed to sell it even if it was for parts...it must have smelled so bad!!I think the most interesting myth they've busted was the one about daddy long legses...They were seeing if it was true that daddy long legs are the most poisonous spider in the world but their fangs are so short they can't bite anyone. It was so amuzing seeing them having to milk all those tiny little spiders lol. I always thought that myth was wrong though...they bite bugs so how come they can't bite humans? Nevertheless it was interesting watching them do all the tests, and then get themselves biten in the end...sounds like fun....
  21. That is very interesting. I never even knew there were foods that took more calories to digest than where in them...and they're all fruit and vegetables...all natural foods, what a surprise! I used to always think that everything about calories was a heap of junk because I always eat whatever I want and stay skinny...but I eat a lot of fruit and veg too. Maybe this the reason why I've been able to do this...Hmm that's given me something to think about. lolAgain, very interesting! Thanks for posting it.
  22. Yes, I think script kiddies are annoying. It's kind of funny though. They go around acting like they're oh so smart, and tough, and can do anything, when really they're just little pests trying to make themselves look good by being stupid.
  23. I like using Windows XP. It looks nicer, is easier to use for those who don't know much about computers, it has more features, and more programs are compatable with it. The only thing is that it seems to be more prone to viruses than other operating systems, and over time it runs slower.I run Windows XP and Windows 98 on my computer because I like the features of XP and the simplicity of 98.I have never tried out any linux operating systems so couldn't really tell how good/bad it is compared to those. Of all the Windows operating systems though I think XP is one of the best.
  24. If it were my computer, then this is what I would do:-1. Uninstall Norton and find a new anti virus software. I used to have Norton on my compter but soon removed it because I found it was using too many resources, making my computer slower, and was very buggy. I can't remember how many times I had to re-install it because it just wasn't working properly. In the and I just gave up and found a new anti virus program.2. Download Ad-Aware from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and run a scan with that. It will find any spyware on your computer and you will be able to delete it. Once you've done that, another good program to get is SpywareBlaster from http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ . It stops any spyware from even being loaded onto your computer to begin with.3. Defragment your hard drive. This will tidy up and re-arrange things on your hard drive so that programs will be able to run faster.4. If all that doesn't work, I suggest reformatting your hard drive. This means completely wiping everything and starting all over again from scratch. Before doing this, just be sure to backup any files that you don't want to lose because everything will be erased.5. If even that doesn't work, I would look at getting a whole new computer. Or, if possible, at least getting more RAM put into the computer you have now. That should speed things up a little.Hope this is of some use to you. Good luck!
  25. My favourite flavour ice cream is margarita ice from Baskin Robbins but you can't get it here anymore. I also like Vanilla, Caramel, Pineapple and Passionfruit, Mint choc chip, Pineapple sorbet, and Passionfruit sorbet.
