  1. I really love GIMP. It came with my ubuntu installation right out of the box. It's really a great software and you can do everything (or almost, not sure) that you could with a paid software, like photoshop. I'm not really a graphic designer, but I do like to edit pictures to my liking, and so far GIMP has given me all the tools I need for that.I really hope someday it could be considered as one of the best software out there for editing images, because it really is a good piece of software that deserves the best.
  2. I think it's going to happen the same thing that happened when XP was released for the first time. Everyone was talking about the cool looks and stuff, but also compatibility, so most people chose windows 98 over XP at that time (some still do ) and right now its kinda the same. Though, most of current hardware will be compatible with windows vista, the problems is the minimum requirements. While XP works well with 256MB of RAM, you would need at least 1GB to run Vista at a decent speed, and it shouldn't be like that. For now, I'll stick with windows XP until I get my DX10 video card and until vista gets more updates, because, as of today, an upgrade to vista is just not worth the price, for me at least. Everything I need works flawlesly with XP, but I'll consider switching when I get my Geforce 8 or 9 video card
  3. yeah right we get 5 invitations for free trials, but that's not in use anymore since they offer the same trial on their main website for free and without your credit card. Though if you invite from your account and the trial account becomes a paid account you receive a free month, and if you happen to bring back a friend who used to play WoW more than 3 months ago, you get another free month
  4. Ohhhh coke studios!!!I used to play that a LONG time ago... like 3 years ago.. man that was a great game!! I remember getting a lot of thumbs up for my music!! and drinking coke would get you points, but if you said "sprite" you would get your drink but no points.. haha..I haven't played in a long time... I must have like 8237872349 decibels for spending.. unless they already deleted my account.
  5. I don't know if you were asking or quoting or just making fun of something but here it goes I play "legit" WoW on US Realms. It's very easy to play there for FREE, without credit card or anything. Just go to: World of Warcraft Website and register for a FREE TRIAL account. Of course you only get to play for 10 days and with a level 20 cap, because lol some people (crazy ones) can get to level 60 or 70 in less than 10 days haha.. anyway, yeah just go there and sign up for a free trial account, you can create up to 5 free accounts using the same e-mail, and if you decide to upgrade to a paid account you can always enter a prepaid game card or use a credit card or paypal to pay for your game. I'm on Norgannon US Realm. My characters are Whou (70 Night elf Druid) and Liadov (70 human mage)
  6. wow looks interesting.. i like this kind of games! thanks for sharing.
  7. the only problem I see with using WAMP is that they don't allow you to change the password for the mysql user, i remember me looking through lots of documentation to be able to change the password ;)they should have that option on the setup...other than that, super easy to set up and run!.. in less than 5min
  8. ok 5 invites ready to be sent!!! let me know if you want one! send me a PM with your email, or post it here! https://www.erepublik.com/en
  9. well I was kinda hoping I could use my own DNS server, as I do with my main domain, and just point the domain to the provided IP address by Xisto. something like this: mikesoft.com.ve (HOST RECORD) points to: 80.60.80.266 (just as an example, thats not the actual IP address) http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ (ALIAS) points to: mikesoft.com.ve and it works with no problem, I wanted to do the same with my second domain, so I could manage my own subdomains and mail records. Do you think I could do that without pointing the DNS servers to the Xisto - Web Hosting ones?
  10. Hey all, I kinda have a problem and I hope you guys can help me out. So I currently have my domain name working with Xisto with no problems at all, but I bought another domain name and I wish to do the same and host it with Xisto (addon domain) The problem is that when I try to add it via cPanel I get an error like if it wasn't registered with a valid registrar, though it's the same registrar as my main domain name, so it's not a problem with the registrar. I get this error: my main domain is mikesoft.com.ve and I wish to add erepublik.com.ve as an addon domain (so it could have it own subdomain), but it wont let me, or maybe it isn't possible with a free account? hope someone can help me, or recommend me to do something else. Thanks in advance.
  11. I think your ISP provides you with a limited number of IP addresses, mine gives me up to 4 IPs (certified, dynamic) a month. If you're behind a rounter you'll be only using one of the IPs, so to change your IP you have to get a switch only or connect directly to the DSL/cable modem and do the trick. Keep in mind that you can't change your IP unlimited times. Try getting a switch (or making your router works as a switch only) to see if you can get a different IP address. And if you have more than 1 ethernet port on your computer (less likely) you can just swap ports to get a new IP, though this would only work if you're not connected to a router, this means your IP can't be a LAN one (like 192.168.0.1).
  12. Hey, you can do this:restart PC and press F5 or F8 repeteadly, until you get windows advanced start options. Then choose start in SAFE MODE.After windows starts, you can log in as the Administrator account, if you created a password for it when installing windows you have to type it in here, and when you get to the desktop, just go to control panel, users, and look for the user you can't sign in and remove its password, and also try to uncheck the option "make files private", that way, any other account in your PC can reach your documents files (yourself) to recover them.If you still can't, then you can just get a ubuntu live cd and browse the hard drive from linux live cd, and look for your documents folder.Hope it helps.
  13. PC games mostly... I play something like.. 4 full days a week ;)well, to be exact, I've been playing WoW for a while (a year and a half), and you can check how much time you have spendt (or should I say, wasted) in the game.... it says 85 days for one of my characters and 56 days for the other character, both 70.So, I've wasted like.... 3000+ hours playing wow!!! zomg.. and I'm not a hardcore player.. but yeah I love games.. I play other games a lot too!!
  14. Well I just found out about this game and its very interesting, it's a world simulator, where you are a citizen of your country and you can find a job or create a company, also you can create or join a political party, join the military among other things. You can also run for president of your political party, and then for president of your country. The main goal is to maintain a high economy, where there're companies for food, hospitals, weapons, etc. They'll introduce wars to the game engine in march, so apparently you can choose to dominate another country if that's what the president wants!! It's a very fun game. Now, there are some bad news... the game is still a beta, so to register you must get an invitation first. You can register at the website and hopefully get an invitation soon from the admin, or you can ask someone who is playing already for an invitation. We get 2 invitations when we register, though I think you get more later. Sorry I already used my invitations but you could post here if you want one and i'll send it to you ASAP, when I get them. This is what the website says: See you ingame!
  15. Thanks!! well, yeah the site is working now (just uploaded some of pages) and everything seems to be ok (and fast!!!)
  16. Ok so my name is finally in red... (yay!!! thanks!!!) and I of course went to create my hosting account... everything perfect. Now I have some questions about the domain and DNS: 1) I have my own DNS servers using DNSPARK. The thing is, according to the instructions I should change my Nameservers for the astahosts ones, bypassing my dns server completely. I was gonna ask if it's possible to use my DNS server and point my domain to the IP provided by you, I did it and at least I can see the "success" page, where it says "this page is hosted at Xisto". I want to use my own DNS server because I would like to always have a subdomain pointing to my home IP address, and if I change my nameservers i'll no longer be able to do that. Is it possible and valid to keep my DNS server and just point my domain to the IP address provided by Xisto? or is there another way I should do it using my DNS server? or should I use the Xisto nameservers because otherwise my site will not work or something? 2) When I posted the application for a hosting account I said I was gonna use the domain mikeflash.com though finally after months of failed attempts, I got my venezuelan domain mikesoft.com.ve, so when I was registering the hosting account, I entered that .com.ve name instead of the one I said I was gonna use. Is that ok? I would like to use mikesoft.com.ve instead, I saw a link that said "domain change", should I go there and pay 15 credits for the change? or was I correct by assuming when registering my hosting account I could use any domain name I wanted? Thank you and sorry for asking such hard questions lol... And THANKS for the hosting account.. you guys rock!!!
  17. hey!! good one!! didn't know about that!
  18. can't you use a proxy? there should be a public proxy in NY, I think that might help ya. here is a list of proxies in the US, this page shows some in NY: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  19. For work purposes, I feel tempted to buy a Mac.. but those things are really expensive, especially here in my country venezuela. You have to pay like 4 times the price in the US...Anyway, I love linux.. I love the bobbling windows in gnome, and all the other effects.. and having multiple desktops... that's the most useful thing I love from my ubuntu.. though, I kinda use windows more than linux.. which sucks
  20. I think you should mention that this info was ripped from these sites: http://www.apple.com/search/games http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ and I think you should quote all that info because it was not made by you. Though, thanks for the info, I have played it before but didn't like much, I play WoW since 2006 and I think it's the best MMO ever
  21. Sorry I tried to create another toolbar but it doesn't let me put bookmarks on it, what I do (since I use a lot of bookmarks) is create folders to gather similar links onto one space (folder) so I can have a lot of bookmarks in the same bar.For example:Mail (when clicked, gmail, hotmail, yahoo.. etc shows up)If you do find a way to create another toolbar for bookmarks please let me know
  22. so what does it do? I mean, I want my browser to be fast, not to take like 10 seconds to open (something like photoshop, or any other adobe software, or whatever software takes more than a second to load )That's why I love firefox.. it opens instantly when I click the Icon. I haven't tried this one, but judging from the screenshot (real?) and specs, it must take a while to load.
  23. nice guide. What I usually do is change the ethernet to another port, since I have 2 ethernet cards on my PC
  24. what video card do you have? It's probably because of corrupt or outdated driver, if you could tell me more information I might be able to help you out. Also, what kind of windows do you use?
  25. Hello,I speak spanish, I'm from Venezuela, but my english is pretty good. I'm also learning french, though I can't really say much more than "Comment allez-vous?" hahaha ;)After french I think I'll learn mandarin (chinese), I just love languages!
