  1. Well... I've only studied business at A level so this isnt concrete advice but here goes.... Firstly i would imagine you might need to specialize your product further.. Maybe have some flash drives with essential (and free) software installed like document editors or something that would be useful for your class mates to have. Then they have a reason to buy from you and not from the school supplies office or something, because you offer them something else that others dont. Keep some flash drives empty and sell them that way as some people only want the storage.
You could also offer free services like defragging of the drives but only on the ones bought from you, its unlikely they will need this service but its sort of like a bonus for them.

As for a website... definitely make one if you can do it free and easily, because i fear that as you are a starting business and you sell only one product, flash drives, people would be reluctant to purchase things online from you. I wouldnt buy anything from a small company on the net.

Remember to make or advertise your USP, Unique Selling Point, as this is what will tempt buyers to buy from you and not from the competition. you could offer bundles of products, maybe a flash drive, lanyard (the ribbon round your neck to hold it, assuming it doesnt come with one anyway), free software on disc or installed on request and a guarantee for a year or so against it breaking.

You need to be as unique as can be, and out of interest what is the name of this competition? I live in the UK and i havent heard of it but id be interested to see how people do. I assume its a school thing otherwise i might be interested myself!

If you're selling any device that stores files, it's illegal to sell them with anything on it unless it came with it from the manufacturer.

  2. nice free stuff is always good. too bad you didnt think ahead and signed up a new email and gave them that one. I do it all the time too I sign up with my real email then end up getting spam right away ; ;. what dvds did you pick?

Nah, I don't mind. They go into my spam folder so it's cool.Speaking of which, when my old work paid for my blackberry online training, they had to pay loadsssss of money, but I had to use my work email. I changed it to my normal email and got to keep the account when I quit.

I got Torchwood (first season), Sin city, and A clock work Orange.

If I want more I can just sign up with my boyfriend's name, and adress.

  3. wow,i never came to the point of hoping my mom dead...want to rethink that telling Michael you're a nice person thing?:)no,seriously, I am grateful for having wonderful parents and I understand that some people are not as lucky, personally I have never felt suffocated, so i feel pretty bad for tunay and you strange garden...
Am 18 and am supposed to leave the country for studies pretty soon, and believe me or not,the only thing am gonna miss is family, hehe

My mother is worse than me.

You'll just have to trust me on this one. and I never told saint_michael I was a nice person, I was measuring it up.

  4. With bigpond movies it allows you to sign up to their service and recieve free DVD's free for a month. It doesn't ask you for any credit card information and it doesn't charge you any late fees....So you can basically keep them forever. So that's what I did.Only dowside is I get a email in my spam box daily saying, "We have had a problem billing to your credit card. This could mean that your credit card details need to be entered or need updating."What are you crazy? I'm not giving you my bank details. Thanks, Bigpond. The family enjoyed those DVD's for christmas. (I'm so cheap ahahaha).

  5. this thread has popped up lots of times :) but yea thanks for the info SM xD! but i wish i could run away to my bf/fiancee's house when my parents were suffocating me of their over protectiveness. its annoying cause i'm 18 and they treat me like i'm 10 >.> they seriously don't know how to let go -.-

I wish my parents cared enough about me to do that kind of stuff.when I was younger, my mum used to call my friend's parents and ask them if i could go over their house, and would tell me later "hey, prue wants to see you today, want me to drive you?"...I only found out because I wanted to be like harriette the spy and listen in on the other line. I used to go over their house and hope my mum was dead when I came back.

  6. Personally, I do not like this. Once you have plugged in your USB printer, there is nothing else that you can plug in, eg.. you want photos from ur fone and u cant have both plugged in, so u have to put fotos from fone on THEN start printing em all, when it could take nearly half the time. Also, is it slow.... there no way that it could be as fast as a normal laptop. And maybe there would be issues with it being so small, is it weaker than normal ones.... I personally would go for a normal laptop. The worst con is that it doesnt have windows :) :)

That's why usb hubs were invented, honey.

  7. Ever since I finished with school, I've been doing I.T, network engineering, tech support work for ISP's yada yada...But whenever I was at work I used to get yelled at for drawing on paint, or drawing on paper or whatever. One day a guy walked past and asked me where i got the image i did on paint from, and I replied "oh, i just drew it. I wanted it to look like a vector" and he was a webdesigner and told me I should be doing graphic design. So i did...When I got illustrator I did a design for my mum's friend, and uploaded it to deviantart. a german design company messaged me and asked me if i wanted my design on iPod skins and laptop skins and stuff...How could I refuse. So I quit everything I did and concerntrated on what I was best at. Now I want to have my own website with my portfolio, so more companies can contact me and buy the rights to my designs.

  8. Use a Proxy Server to access the Web?
Your static IP number is assigned by you Internet Service Provider, so to avoid displaying that IP number, a Proxy Server will act as a Middleman in the navigation of the WWW.

Google Proxy Server for a list of possible suppliers of Proxies.

Ew, I hate proxies. I got viruses on my old computer from using them on websites I got banned from ahaha.

They just temporarily cover the IP, not change it. If you don't want a static Ip you should call your ISP...If you change back you may even save a bit if money.
