  1. Many mods for games have left behind a legacy but very few of them ever last for more than a few years, it's always sad to find out that no one plays your favorite mod. At least there's still some mods that have stood the test of time though.

I absolutely know what you mean. I wish people still played Action Quake 2. T.T
But yes, some mods last for very very long periods of time. Like Counter-strike.

  2. I honestly don't care enough about cell phones to know any of them by name.

The last cell phone I had was one of these, and I haven't used it in about 6 years:

It's the goldish silver one, actually.

I do happen to be getting a new one sometime this weekend though, which is lovely. I hate having no car and no phone...it's a pain in the butt when you need to get somewhere.

  3. I know most charities make a difference. Sure, I've never been [DIRECTLY] on the giving or receiving end of a charity, but I know they put out millions of dollars regularly to help out the needy.I think it's more an issue with the people receiving things. It's kind of hard to explain, but sometimes people get so lazy that they need people to KEEP helping them out, instead of receiving that one push at the beginning and working from there. That's the point at which charities just can't make a difference.Yeah, they help people every now and then, but after that, the person has to help them self as well.

  4. I think what's funny is that, most people who are relatively experienced with computers realize that hackers can be just as good as bad, but as soon as you say something with the word hacker in it, people get defensive. It's some kind of natural thing to want to avoid contact with hackers.

  5. Oh, I LOVE building computers. The only problem with that is that I don't have any kind of money to do it. I can't even upgrade my own computer, I'm stuck with a pentium 2 and a radeon 9100 from who knows how long ago. the only nice part in there would be my new 300g hard drive...too bad it's not as fast as it could be, because the processor can barely process 2 times 2.

  6. It's true there are a lot of different types of hackers. I think I might try software hacking/disassembly sometime soon. It's a handy skill to have, provided you can get to the point of knowledge where you can do it without being guided. I also need to learn CSS pretty much asap, but that's a different story.

  7. The Gamecube and Xbox came out over 5 years ago, it'll be six years near the end of 2007...and the PS2 came out a year before that. That's plenty of time for a game system to live, since things like computers are being updated with new and improved hardware almost monthly. If you look at it in terms of video game consoles vs. graphics cards... There are new 512mb radeon whatevers out for computer systems today, and the gamecube is probably still running a 32mb card from five years ago. The CPU's are just as old as well. Now, maybe you're adding in handhelds to your "3 years concept", but handhelds aren't considered consoles at all.Gamecube has had a pretty long life and a lot of games...[most of which are crappy, but that's developer's faults.]A universal game system would either be a collaboration by all the big game companies, which they wouldn't do, because they lose money without competition, or an illegal system from a third-party that would get shut down probably before it even sold anything. I think so far game companies are doing okay...I just wish developers would do what they're capable of. I'd make a bet that 90% of all video games today aren't as good as they could be, with the people who are making them. Don't get me wrong, there are some amazing games, but most just aren't as good as is possible. I blame that on time restraints by publishers, to get things done faster so they can get paid. I read somewhere that Bungie [developers of the Halo series] had to cut Halo 1 almost in half because of time restraints. If you think of it by the numbers, that's a ridiculous amount of good game experience gone to waste.
