I just remebered.Dreamweaver should have a publish option which will let you enter your ftp information and will automaticlly.I can't say for sure because I've never used Dreamweaver but most of the programs I've used have that option. This will allow you to upload the graphics at the same time as the html file. Additionally, it will fix all of your links to work correctlly inside your website.Happy coding, vujsa

I would suggest that you arrange all of your html, jpg, gif, etc. files on your hard drive to mimmick how you want them arranged on the server. Then you will need only to upload the single directory to public_html. This will save you a lot of work and prevent error. When you design your site, use relative links for everything that will be on the server, that way, when to upload, you won't have fix all of the links. vujsa

Sometimes I find it difficult to post quality topics and replies. Many times, I find that I can't answer other people's questions or that I can't think of any questions that could be answered here. Really, the categories that I'm most interested in, tend to be a little slow or frequently spammed. But I keep plugging along with the hope that by raising the quality of content in the forum I'll help attract new members that have more in common with myself. More members, more post, more oppurtunities to reply and contribute. So, budget in new servers for next year, you're going to need the space. vujsa

Secret Behind Your Nick/User Names Where did they come from?
vujsa replied to szupie's topic in Introductions
Well, this should be good. I've been a Beatles (John, Paul, George, and Ringo) fan for a long time; additionally, I love beetles (Volkswagens not insects). My very first website was a list of VW links and a story about my VW. It just seemed natual that I use beetleman as my username. I've been using that name for 10 years. Sometimes I have to use something else in case someone else already took beetleman or maybe it was me and I forgot the password so I need a new account. So usually I use beetleman or beetlman6272, but here in 8 character land, I'm beetlema. So what's that have to do with vujsa? well when I went to college many years ago, my first roomate was Japanese. I attended a small junior college with a large Japanese student population. As a result I made friends with several, if not all, of them. Over the years, I have lost touch with my friends so I decided to setup a forum for all of us to use to get reaquainted. I went to V.U. and they are Japanese Students Alumni so V.U.J.S.A. Other free webhosting sites I looked into turned your username into your subdomain or account name /~username. Not fully understanding how this site worked, I chose to use my desired subdomain name instead of my normal username. As a result I'm vujsa here. No big deal I guess but I always type: beetle<-<-<-<-<-<-vujsa <- = backspace. I've considered having my username changed but we'll see. vujsa -
Well, I have found a couple of tricks that may help. Sometimes polls are a good way to get your posts in. A good poll can generate conversation which you can interact with and as a result the forum gets a useful topic and you get more posts. Tutorials also generate discussion and provide a way to add more posts. If all else fails, ask a good detailed question that you need help with and that should snowball into a discussion. Happy posting, vujsa

Well to be honest, this is one of your largest post at the website. I imagine that some of your posts were considered spam and as a result points were deducted by the Admins. Remember that the take away more points than the original post generated if it is deemed to be spam. I would suggest that you attempt to offer a little more substance to your posts. vujsa

No, you will need to request hosting once you reach 50. I highly suggest that you read the following posts: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/4-forum/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/26-forum/ http://forums.xisto.com/topic/3-forum/ First read ALL of this information then ask your questions. If the you have a question, run a search of topics first before posting a question. If you post a question, be specific and don't post one line sentences. Failure to follow these instuctions will result in corrective measures as outlined in the TOS and AUP Basically, quit spamming the forum. vujsa

Not only can you use the database and phpBB, they are preinstalled on the server when you get hosting. They even have an automated setup program so you don't even need to have someone else set it up for you. The service provided here is very good. I would suggest that you work on posting more quality posts in order to get you free hosting. Happy posting, vujsa

Not that I'm aware of. Why are you downloading an entire site? The owner may be willing to provide you with the content Keep in mind that you would need to save each image file as well and the pages may be generated on-the-fly so that there are limitless possibilities of pages to download. For Example, this forum is generated on-the-fly so everytime you reload the page little thins happen like the time changes, replies are shown, shout box is updated, and different users see different content. Happy surfing, vujsa

Well, you don't have a case. Are the drvies external drives or internal drives?I don't know of any cooling fans for external drives but there are cooling fans for internal drives. http://www.antec.com/index.php?page=cookieSet should have what you need. Aditionally, if you aren't confined to a case, you could simply rig a standard case cooling fan to blow between the drives but you'll need to leave room between the drives. Stay cool, vujsa

Hey don't cheat! - the poll is anonymous See below for the correct answer. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . wysiwyg is a common phrase used by computer buffs but many people never got the relevence. I thought that this might help clear things up. WYSIWYG or wysiwyg is an acronymn for What You See Is What You Get Commonly refering to a Graphic User Interface type web design program such as Frontpage, Netscape Composer, etc... Other wysiwyg programs would include MS Publisher, Print Master, etc... Happy designing, vujsa

Disk Read Error I keep getting a disk read error...
vujsa replied to spacewaste1405241471's topic in Hardware Workshop
It depends on the problem with the drive. If the data is corrupt then the computer can't read the drive. If the hard drive has a bad sector, that would cause the problem. If the data is corrupt then you just need to look for good data, if you have a bad sector, then reformating the drive will quarintine the bad sector and the rest of the drive will be usable. So sometimes when the computer can't read the disk, the disk can still be written on. Just don't reformate a disk that you have needed data on until you retrieve the data. vujsa [Edit] Here is a decent recovery program: http://www.data-recovery-software.net/ -
Disk Read Error I keep getting a disk read error...
vujsa replied to spacewaste1405241471's topic in Hardware Workshop
Sometimes my computer forgets which hard drive to check first during boot up.Check your Boot Device Order and make sure that it is checking the drives in the right order. If you do'nt have a problem there, you may need to carefully reinstall WinXP.If you find that your HDD is bad or if you wanted to upgrade, buy a new HDD and install windows on the new drive. Be sure to disconnect the old drive before installing the new drive, but leave the old drive in the computer.Once WinXP is install on the new drive, reconnect the old drive as a slave drive and use a disk recovery program to pull any recoverable data off the old drive. If the drive is mechanically damaged your just out of luck unless you send it to a data recovery service $$$.There are many Trial Recovery programs that are full featured for 30 day, but after 30 day you should be ok.vujsa -

406 Error I keep getting a 406 error...
vujsa replied to spacewaste1405241471's topic in Websites and Web Designing
I'm sorry, I didn't know what e107 was. I had phpBB installed on my home test platform with out problem. Now that My site is running I have SMF running on it and as you allready know, it will not process the word "system". The only explaination for this is that Apache has be intentionally configured to dissallow the word system. Probably to prevent hackers from accessing root:system:etc ... Sample from my Apache access log file: Hacking attempt! The only solution is for OpaQue to modify the httpd.conf to allow the word "system" but maintain security. I'll PM him and make the suggestion. vujsa [Edit] Sent a PM to OpaQue to have him look into the problem. -

vujsa replied to Silent Soul X's topic in Computer Networks

Wireless Networking And Switch How To Add To My Network
vujsa replied to Silent Soul X's topic in Computer Networks
Just to clarify. You wouldn't need a wireless router just a wireless access point. the wireless access point is like a wireless switch and is much cheeper than a wireless router. Of course this may be a good time to upgrade to a multifunction unit. Switch/Router/Wireless Access Point all in one. A nice gigabit switch/Router/Wireless G Access Point Just a thought, vujsa -
Error 406 - Problem In My Phpbb Forum Actually a problem with Apache
vujsa replied to hihihihi88's topic in Software
All I can figure is that during the mod, something was corrupted or left out. This could be anything from a missing semi-colon to extra quotes. My guess is that the during the mod, the original source files were edited so you could reinstall phpBB a million times and every time it would be corrupt. I believe that you'll need to purge your copy of phpBB and download a fresh copy from the phpBB website and install from clean files. You shouldn't need to do anything with you MySQL databases or its tables, in fact, your settings may be intact after the purge. Good luck, vujsa [EDIT] By the way, here is a link to the Apache website containg a reference to the Error 406 message. I didn't really understand but here it is. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ vujsa
