  1. The old Command and Conquer is still my favorite. I loved playing it, and I regret that I haven't done it in quite a while. I used to play Command and Conquer on my old playstation 1. At first I needed to get used to the controls using a gamepad but when I got the hang of it there was no army big enough to stop me I remember that I build so many tanks and GI's that my playstation couldn't handle it, it froze and crashed!
  2. Ah ok, I didn't knew that. I live in the Netherlands and I have never seen the tv show. I just thought that I knew what you guys were talking about
  3. Isn't it Nah - uhhh instead uf Uh - nah? It is pretty annoying, but fun to annoy your friends with I mean, when your doing an imitation of those people who try to immitate it, it can be funny.
  4. ^Ouch. That's all I have to say about that. Ouch. 2.49 GB/sec will definately kill a person as a result of sleep deprivation. 63183[/snapback] It would be pretty handy if you wanted to download the internet Would even Bill Gates have this fast internet? He probably would, considering the amount of money which is almost nothing for him. For mr. Bill it would be like spending one cent is for me. What would you do with so many bandwidth? It certainly start a server facility or two, one free and one payed hosting.
  5. I find it really amusing that it is so easy to bypass these blockades of programs. I wish it was so easy in Windows 2000 or NT. I haven't heard of a similar trick for Windows.
  6. The task scheduler is a typical example of Windows functionality I have never used. Nice tutorial. I think it would be possible to execute a program in the background so people won't see the music playing. There must be some kind of command line mp3 player which will start with a simple batchfile.
  7. 1) Arrogant people2) Ignorant people3) Aggressive peopleAnd ofcourse, I dislike people who are more then 1 of these three things even more.
  8. The reason it is called a trojan horse is that it sneaks into your system letting intruders in from the outside in a way you won't find out. You know, like Odysseus did in Troy with his "Trojan horse".I suggest AntiVir for trojan and virus removal. It is a freeware anti-virus program, you can download updates of the program and its virus definitions for free every day.
  9. The red arrow is much better then an annoying system tray icon poping up every 30 minutes saying that you have to update. I love Firefox
  10. I think he didn't do it because it's illegal to steal a license key for copyrighted software!? I can also get my food for free if I go to the supermarket and steal everything what I want, but I wouldn't do that. Get my point?
  11. It is possible to optimize your website for both Internet Explorer and Firefox. You would have to spend more time though, because of different types of element rendering. When you really do it by the book, you will find out that it still looks different in Internet Explorer and Firefox. Then you will have to apply some workarounds, but it would still be valid css. If you want to optimize your website it would be smart to change your html 4.0 to xhtml 1.1 and then try to apply css for markup. At http://www.cssvault.com/rg-erdr.php?_rpo=t you will find a list of categories of useful CSS resources. If you want to get started, take a look at the layout category. If you get stuck and need some useful hack, look no further!
  12. And please, no marquees and animations! Keep your site classy and simple. What are your html learning sources? The first code snippet in nickmealy's post isn't really html code, it is css. I would recommend http://www.w3schools.com/ for a tutorial on (x)html and css. It is also a good site to use as reference when your coding your webpage.
  13. That's your opinion on valid code. I know that your quiz script works, but it would have no real markup and wouldn't look very professional. I prefer valid coding, and without those other tags you can't really make a site layout using css code and such. The goal of my code snippet was not to improve html though, it was to show that you could do the same with much less php code.
  14. I come from the Netherlands. It's a great country and stuff.By the way, did you know that you can make a Poll with more then two questions? You could make it USA, Canada, Europe and the rest or something.
  15. I have disabled the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Firewall. I think that Zonelabs Zone Alarm is much better to handle my protection. It's free and you can configure almost anything. I love the fact that I can enable or disable internet access for every program that runs on my computer. I also use freeware antivirus software.
  16. It looks really cool when you do it with dark-green - light-green. When I originally wrote this tutorial I had my example in those colors, but I wanted to do it in red now. Well, I'm glad that you guys like my tutorial.
  17. But, those books are copyrighted and those copies are thus illegal.
  18. Maybe this will help you: no=Math.random()*52document.write(Math.round(no))You would have to remove that card from the deck though. Can you post the followups of your code here?
  19. Title: How to create those brushed gradients. Author: Carsten de Vries Level: Easy Basic concept: Nice brushed gradients (for avatar creation) Tools needed: Adobe Photoshop and some talent for colorpicking Example brushed gradient avatar: http://www.mv.nl/ Step one: Start Photoshop and create a new image around 80x80 pixels with a transparent background. Use 96x96 pixels if you want to use it for MSN Messenger, that's what I did and what you see in the example. Step two: http://www.mv.nl/ Now, pick a foreground color (darker) and a background color (lighter). In this tutorial I used #950A0A as foreground color and #C94343 as background color. Now use the gradient tool [Gradient Tool] to make a gradient from the top to the bottom of your background layer. Make sure the line is completely straight for the best gradient. Step three: http://www.mv.nl/ Add some noise to your background layer (Filters -> Noise -> Add Noise). I add 11% on my layer but you could use something around 10%-15%. You don't have to change any other settings. Step four: http://www.mv.nl/ Add a motion blur with a 0 degrees angle (default) and a distance between 10-20 pixels. In the example I use a distance of 15 pixels. You get something like the thing above.. Basicly your finished now, but it's more fun to add more effects. Proceed to step five if you want to. Step five: http://www.mv.nl/ You don't have to do this step but it's cool. Duplicate your layer and set the blend mode to multiply. Duplicate your layer one more time and set the blend mode to overlay. You can experiment and add more duplicate layers with different blending modes if you want to. Last step: To wrap it up, add some nice text. Add a 1 pixel border if you want to get a similar result. Create a new layer and select all (ctrl+a), Edit -> Stroke, set width to 1px, make sure you have location on inside, change the color to your foreground color and your finished! This is my brushed gradient avatar result: http://www.mv.nl/ I hope you learned something from this tutorial, and that this will not be my last tutorial here.
  20. I just ment to make a valid html page, because you only included the <title> and some <p>'s. You missed <html>, <head> and <body>. The newlines are coded in php as \n. They will output the code after it on a new line, so you don't get <html><head><title>etc.. but start with a new line for each important html element.
  21. I did a little improving on the results.php page: // Below gets the answers from the page before and checks to see if you forgot anythingwhile (extract($_POST) == '' && isset($_POST['submit'])){ die("You forgot something, go back and check over your quiz.");}// make some valid html with newlinesecho "<html>\n<head>\n<title>\nQuiz Results\n</title>\n</head>\n<body>\n";echo "Results: $name<br />\n";for ($i = 1; $i <= 5; $i++) { echo "$i.) ${q . $i}<br />\n";}echo '<a href="' . $qp . '">Go Back To Quiz?</a><br />';echo "\n</body>\n</html>";
  22. I wouldn't laugh at anyone because they were using FrontPage or DreamWeaver. I could make sites in both, but I would code the html and css by hand and validate it using the w3c validators. I would preview the pages in FireFox and Internet Explorer to make sure everything looks right in both browsers. I personally prefer DreamWeaver's "coder layout" (choose it at setup) because it gives me a nice overview of my website and code. It is very easy to open multiple files at the same time, and with the code syntax highlighting it is a breeze to create html, css, javascript, php and even more types of code.If you want to use a WYSIWYG editor to create html and css, I would choose DreamWeaver because it tends to output better code than FrontPage. At least, that was the case when I got fed up with FrontPage a couple of years ago. It is most likely that DreamWeaver's html code will give both Internet Explorer and FireFox the opportunity to display pages correctly.
  23. Marquees are so 1998 I get totally annoyed by anything that moves on a website, while I'm not steering it. I used to love marquees when I first learned HTML (3.2), but I quickly came to my senses.
  24. After a small look at that website I can't wait to get started. I don't have any Java experience and no time at hand now, though. Too bad. Hopefully I can start kicking some *bottom* with my own robot soon. This site is worth the bookmark
  25. Firefox only shows the Dropdown pop-up and the Floating banner pop-up. In my opinion, these aren't really popups because they are not launched in a new window. I mean, a banner isn't a popup either, is it. The code used for these so called popups just display a html element, a <div> and <span>, and use javascript to keep put (Dropdown pop-up) or keep them in place (Floating banner pop-up).Internet Explorer 6 fails on the same pop-ups, but also on the Floating pop-up and the Floating banner pop-up.So in this case, Firefox is cracked up to be if you compare it to Internet Explorer
