  1. They released a fix (firefox 1.0.4) May 11, just a few days after one of the vulnerabilities this update fixes was "out in the open"... which is faster than the monthly updates by MS ps posted a thread on this before an update was available... -> http://forums.xisto.com/topic/21548-critical-firefox-exploits-how-fast-can-they-fix-it/
  2. Mozilla released a security update May 11 .... Firefox 1.0.4
  3. A new version has been released... v1.0.4It took them 3 days to fix... not bad
  4. Oops... forgot to post some usefull links.... ZDnet news -> Exploit code chases two Firefox flaws mozillaZine article -> Mozilla Arbitrary Code Execution Security Flaw Security Advisory 2005-42 Greetz, RikŠ
  5. Again 2 critical vulnerabilities where discovered/made public last weekend. Critical because there's no patch yet.... a workaround is to disable javascript... This will be a nice test... How fast can they fix it? Greetz, Rik?
  6. I always do a 'clean install'....Simple upgrading (download and install) can break some extensions. -> list of broken and updated extensions Before upgrading you can always check the Firefox Support Forums Greetz, RikŠ
  7. Yes, another update. You can read the fixes at ZDNet or here at the Mozilla Release Notes. Before installing v1.0.3 make sure that the directory you've chosen to install into is clean and doesn't contain any previous Firefox installations! (known issue) Greetz, RikŠ
  8. It's nice you try to make your site valid XHTML, but i think it's more important to make your site 'user-friendly' first and then worry about your site being XHTML compliant..... When visiting the boards i couldnt find a link back to the homepage... an overall-header would be nice..... I voted 'bad' in the poll on your site... i didn't even bother to read the homepage content because of the backg-images... sorry Greetz, RikŠ
  9. The security update was March 23, 2005The exploit was reported Sun, 13 Mar 2005 15:56:35 +0000 (announcement 14 Mar @ securitytracker.com -> http://securitytracker.com/id/1013423) Most open-source software has lesser flaws than commercial. Because it's open source the creators/coders spent more time coding.... they want to make a clean script ... because everyone can see their skills. Greetz, Rik©
  10. Yesterday Mozilla (foundation) released another security update for Firefox. Read the press release here. Here is an article from ZDNet abouth this fix. This release fixed 3 vulnerabilities (2 are critical) So upgrade to v1.0.2 ASAP or turn off image display and javascript and don't add any sidebar-panels Greetz, Rik©
  11. Hi Now that Firefox get's more popular each day people find more 'bugs' The next vulnerability was reported yesterday on SecurityTracker.com: http://securitytracker.com/id?1013423 I wonder when mozilla will release v1.0.2 Greetz, RikŠ
  12. Have you ever considered .ogg? (ogg vorbis)It's open source and has very good quality (even at 96kbps vbr). I love it and most of the music on my pc is in .ogg format. Even some software houses use this free format in some of their games. (Unreal Tournament 2003, Soul Reaver 2, Blood Omen 2,Serious Sam: The Second Encounter) If you want to compare .ogg at low bitrate with other formats yourself you can visit this page: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Greetz, Rik?
  13. I don't know which winamp you are talking about but i can watch movies with it too.... and listen to streams/radio.... For updates and the latest version just visit http://www.winamp.com/And for support just visit the forums @ winamp.com There are many skins and plug-ins (ogg-vorbis encoder, l.a.m.e. encoder, 5 Channels Output) for winamp... so i choose Winamp Greetz, Rik?
  14. Hi If you are looking for a free and easy to use WYSIWYG (What You See Is Whay You Get) website creator/editor then take a look at Nvu (N-view or new-view). It's in pre-release stage but it looks nice... Some features: Cross-platform - available for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and FreeBSD CSS editor Color Picker Tabs (Like in Firefox) Spellchecker --> http://www.nvu.com/ --> Features and Screenshots Greetz, Rik?
  15. A nice open-source forum/bulletin board is phpBB2. -> https://www.phpbb.com/ There are many mods/hacks for it too. -> http://phpbbhacks.com/ -> http://www.phpbb-tweaks.com/ I use phpBB2 with Blend Portal System and although there have been some security fixes lately i am happy with it/them.... Greetz, RikŠ
