The Best Browser In Your Opinion for WIN32/64 systems
Hellmonkeys replied to jacob's topic in Software
Firefox all the way! Fast, elegant, clean... just great. Oh, and the add-on system is awesome, as it is open sourced you can do a lot more with them . -
Freehostia.com Great free host
Hellmonkeys replied to reconraiders's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yes, the file size limit is really stupid. However, the main reason why I don't use them is because they limit your databases to 10MB. 10MB? Come on -- you should allow bigger databases than that... I mean, the SQL file for my database is 60MB, not sure how big of a database that will create, but still... 10MB is not enough. -
Wow, Godaddy is just terrible. Well, their shared hosting is anyway. I used it for awhile and it was always really slow. Then, after a few weeks or so, they said I was using too much CPU time and they booted me off. All I was running was a phpBB forum. Not a fan of them, and I wouldn't suggest them to anyone. It's too commercialized anyway, they restrict a lot of stuff and they really need cPanel -- instead they have their own crappy control panel. Oh well, just don't use them :-P.

Google Earth Plus? What exactly is the difference in GE/GEP
Hellmonkeys replied to mystmag's topic in The Internet
I really don't think Google Earth Plus does anything for the average consumer. I am pretty sure it's just for corportations and what not. I do know one thing, though, that it has better printing and screenshoting. It tells the exact new stuff that Plus adds on Google Earth's Web Page (http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/) Here is a quote of the additions: So, it's not really that much stuff that's new. If you plan to print pictures it's good, but otherwise IMO it's not worth it. -
What types of d2? hardcore? softcore? ladder non ladder? we've had a diablo 2 clan for a couple years now, and if it's a Hardcore ladder clan, we'd love to see what you got oh, and a side note: how many members you have and such? i'd love to hear more a bout this clan, the competition is always appealing

All the Baldur's Gate's would be very good. Or Guild Wars, which is like Diablo II.Also, you can't forget about all the Pay-Per-Month RPGs, which I hear are very good. Personally, I don't want to pay-per-month, but it may be something to look in to. World of Warcraft looks pretty sweet when I saw a friend play it...

Kingston Sandisk 1gb Usb Flash Drive Waterproof
Hellmonkeys replied to research2012's topic in Hardware Workshop
I agree with you, flash drives are pretty damn study. Well, my PNY one is anyways. I have sent it through the laundry before, and it didn't do anything to it. It kept all the data and everything. Pretty cool. -
Meh, I think this list really doesn't prove much. I don't see how a lot of them got up there, like Firefox or The Sims. Sure, Firefox is cool, but is it THAT big of an improvement over other products aready out there? Not really... Same with The Sims... sure it's a good, new game, but it's just a video game of you playing a person instead of living your own life...

Just buy a PC. No one likes MACs. It seems like that's too much overkill. I mean c'mon, do you really need that much to do graphics or video... because that's all they are good for.

I think they are starting to take some fire from AMD, so they want to do something new to regain some of the marketplace. Who knows... Intel sucks.

I have gotten this for having an external harddrive attached while I reboot my computer. I have no idea what it is, or why it has anything to do with it. But, try unplugging all your USB devices and see if that helps.

Nintendo Revolution? Is it going to be any good?
Hellmonkeys replied to mystmag's topic in Computer Gaming
I actually think Nintendo's new console may be pretty cool. They have been going down the shitter as of late, but I think they have promise. The new controller looks interesting, and may cause more attention to the console, which gamecube never had. IMO, the biggest problem of Nintendo's is not having the game manufactuer's support, and not have any big name games. Sony has Square and a lot of other big names, while XBox has Bungie and stuff... but Nintendo has... nothing? I think with the new controller companies may be willing to make great games for it, because it offers something new. But then it always goes down to if the users will buy it. Generally, people don't like THAT big of change, so maybe no one will want it... who knows... -
Twin "martian" Nasa Rovers Still "alive"
Hellmonkeys replied to realthor's topic in Science and Technology
Yeah, I followed them for awhile when they first launched. They thought that the dust would destroy their solar panel's, but apparently they are still doing okay. Pretty cool . -
Grand Theft Auto The best game for Christmas?
Hellmonkeys replied to bigfatme2000's topic in Computer Gaming
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is, IMO, one of the best games ever made. It had a wonderful plot, as well as lots and lots and lots of side missions and other stuff. It kept you hooked for a long, long time.As for PS3 and GTA... I think it's going to be amazing. The jump from GTA2 to GTA3 was just awesome, and I wouldn't doubt it will be awesome for GTA3 to GTA4. I know that for GTA3: Vice City, they used every single space possible on the DVD disc, and they couldn't even fit one more texture. So, moving from DVD to Blu Ray will be a huge advantage on it's own, let alone moving from a 300 MHz CPU to a 6-core 3.2 GHz CPU and all the other technical advancements. So I think PS3's GTA will be amazing . -
Longest Word What is the longest word?
Hellmonkeys replied to Zorkaplex's topic in General Discussion
what i always liked was the longest one syllabal word: screeched. A couple years back in school they asked us to think of the longest one syllabal word, and there were a couple crazy ones. it's a real brain buster, since most of the words that were brought up in that assignment were commonly known words. -
i dunno about you guys, but my new years resolution was 1600x1200

i once heard from a forum that black holes are formed where god divides by zero. i dunno though, since i believe in the flying spaghetti monster.. oh, what do you think happens when two black holes try to suck each other up? they neutralize each other?

Nintendo Revolution? Is it going to be any good?
Hellmonkeys replied to mystmag's topic in Computer Gaming
well, usually the nintendo fanboys arent as stupid as the PS3 fanboys. more power! more graphix!! if you take a look in the past nintendo innovated 90% of what made [analog joystick, rumble pad, etc] personally, i love nintendo, i bought a DS just for trauma center -

Dvd9 To Dvd5 Put DVD 9 Movies, on to a standard Disc
Hellmonkeys replied to alexuk2463's topic in Software
I think the best way to convert a DVD9 to a DVD5 is to use CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder). If you were to just use CCE alone, it would be extremely complicated. However, there are programs out there that help you do this. The best way to do this is get a program called DVD ReBuilder (offers a free one, which will do all you need). Also, DVD ReBuilder allows you to use other encoders, which may be cheaper than CCE or free. But yeah, CCE provides EXCELLENT picture quality, and DVD ReBuilder // CCE is what I use to convert them. It's 100x better than any of the DVD X Copy, DVD Shrink, etc. Check out a tutorial to do this here: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ -
Actually, the RAZR v3's are getting really cheap now. It's $100 through Cingular itself right now, which is pretty good compared to what it was originally. Also, if you go through other onlines stores that aren't Cingular, you can get them a lot cheaper, if not free. For example, BestBuy.com has them for ~$60. But, wirefly.com has them for FREE!I personally own a RAZR, and as for the topic of this thread, I think the RAZRs WERE good, but have been surpassed. The looks are still the best, of course, but as for how good it is, I think it's not very good compared to other phones. For example, the v3 has a VGA camera while other phones have over a megapixel camera. Also, the space on-board the phone is ~10MB (~7MB without mods), while other phones have it in the HUNDREDS. Also, other phones support using removable flash spaces, which would be nice, but of course the v3 doesn't support. But then again, this phone is pretty old for the cellphone market. And all these issues are being addressed in new models of the RAZR. The RAZR v3c from Verizon has a 1.3 megapixel camera as well as 50MB of space on the phone. There are also MANY other prototypes that are going to be coming out very soon that will address all these issues. I can't wait to see how awesome they make the new RAZRs .

Yeah, as it was said, there is really no way to "edit" .exe files very well. The reason is they are compiled (probablly in c++) and there is (real) way to decompile it back into C++ to edit. However, reverse engineering can get you pretty far, depending on what you do. The problem is is that it is extremely complicated and requires vast knowledge of ASM. However, if you plan to start doing this, google some reverse engineering tutorials. Also, I reccomend that you start with "OllyDbg", which is a very good and basic Debugger. It can be found at: http://www.ollydbg.de/

Yeah, I have to say that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is probablly the best game I have ever played. It has SUCH a great story line for one... Also, the replay-ability is amazing with all the sidequests and things to do. I mean, it's fun just to run around and blow things up without even doing any missions. This game was extremely well made, and I reccomend it to ANYONE!

I have 560 GB of harddrive space. I use all but ~80 GB of it. I am not exactly sure why I need so much, but I just do . It's always good to have a lot, just in case. I have two 200 GB drives, a 120 GB drive, and a 40 GB drive. Man I love lots of space .
