  1. 220? As in kg's? Not all of us are weightlifters... If you are doing 20 sit-ups and push-ups at night each time, are you going to your limit? Or do you find it easy? You will not see much if any at all improvement if you stay at the same amount of reps. You should try to push yourself a little, and you will see results. You could increase your reps by 5 each week and two weeks or something like that. Another way of doing it is doing as many press-ups as you can each time, and then as many sit-ups as you can. Pushing yourself to your limit will give you results, even though its harder than a set amount of reps. Another you can do if you dont have access to weight machines or anything is to leverage your feet when doing press-ups. If you're in your room you could leverage your feet up on your bed or a chair or something, then do press-ups. That will increase the weight your arms are lifting so its a better workout.
  2. I decided to switch from Windows to Linux when my computer kept getting too many viruses and spyware. I had to keep re-installing windows to get rid of them all, and the process starts over. At one point my computer just switched off 5 seconds after booting up, so I get so tired of windows I decided to switch to Linux. I had no issues with it, apart from the fact it couldnt run the everyday programs I needed it to. I use my Xisto account to run a forum about a particular software, which was not available on Linux. I tried to get it working but it proved impossible to get it working, so I had to switch back to windows. Someone suggested to me I have two computers: One for internet use only and using Linux, the other for offline use only using Windows.
  3. I use Windows Live Messenger with Messenger Plus Live I think it's called. I actually found messenger plus live on this site. I think with that add-on it has to be the best messenger in terms of features, not only because of its own, but it lets you create your own add-ons as well as a selection of thousands of others. I can't say it's the best because i haven't used another kind of messenger. The email service i use is Yahoo. Just because I choose an email service at random, and I'm still using my first ever email address that I made. I don't use hotmail, I think yahoo is a lot better. I have gmail account but I prefer yahoo still.
  4. This topic really seems like one of those religious debate topics to me. Everyone who is on the side of religion will give an answer for life, and most of the others will say there is no divine answer. I disagree that we were born to die, because I think we do have a purpose as human beings, and that is to continue the species. Our purpose in life is to reproduce. We're the most complex species on the planet, but if you looked at a lot of insects such as the praying mantis. After they mate the female will bite off the head of the male. With spiders the male is sometimes killed for food for their young. Other spiders simply die because they have no purpose in life anymore. We are the same as our purpose is to reproduce. Thankfully we have a lot of other things to live for.
  5. I would personally recommend RPG Maker XP and the new one out, RPG Maker VX. With these programs you can program but create games without any programming done by the game creator at all. It is more simple than Game Maker, and comes with its own real time package. I'd say they're your best bet for user-friendliness and creating good games. Wouldn't you agree DeM0nFiRe?
  6. I am surprised that 14 users voted for yes and just 12 for no. I thought more would have been in favor of ghosts not existing. That is that ghosts, do not exists. Or this may another one of many topic discussions where the term "ghost" needs to be defined. The most general and definition would be a spirit or being living or existing amongst the living world. There are many tv shows and people who actually hunt ghosts, but if they are so careless with hiding the existence(and they must be if they existing because people must discuss if they do or not), then why has a ghost never been caught? Perhaps they can move through solid objects? Anyone who studies physics or chemistry or who has common sense knows that that is just not possible. It is a fact the people can suffer from hallucinations, stress, mental health issues etc, and we do see things that are not there, and do not actually exist, even if our brains are telling us so. I do not believe in ghosts, because such a thing is not possible, not under anyone's theory.
  7. I've never been able to control my dreams, so I'm sort of wondering what it is most of you are talking about. Is it really possible to control your own dreams? I'm sure it would be great to able to do absolutely anything you want without consequences though. Are you aware it's a dream when you "controlling" yourselves?
  8. This topic is sort of about 2d games competing with 3d games, and aimed more at game developers. Is 2D in the past? With modern gaming, would you even consider purchasing a 2D game? I use Xisto to run a site for RPG Maker XP/VX(I know a few others on Xisto do also), which is an all round site for creating 2D games. Some interesting discussions have come up on the forums on 2d vs 3d game making. I usually go with 3D saying that it is much better than 2D, and with todays modern games, creating games in 2D is just going backwards. But I think most of us on Xisto are not making commercial games, so a decent discussion of 2D vs 3D can be made. With 2D software such as RPG Maker XP and RPG Maker VX, you can start the program and start creating the game straight away. A lot of experienced users could create a couple of hours game play in a couple of days. With the resources and user-friendliness of these programs that kind of thing is possible. Everything from the main players stats to battle animations can be done with a few clicks. It's that simple to do, with good results. On top of that, there are scripting possibilities meaning the only limitation is a 2D game. The scripting is not as advanced as professional scripting languages(it uses ruby), but its a scripting language none the less, and that means some advanced gaming systems. So what I'm getting at here(sorry for sounding like I'm adversing the program), is that it's possible to make good 2D games, and its so simple with todays software. Amazing 2D games can be made, and just about anyone can do it. But, they're not 3D. Does that put people off? Is a game automatically ruled by the average gamer because it is not 3D? 3D games on the other hard are very difficult to make. I'm not as experienced with them, and I know its possible to get engines with template scripts. But to make your games, and unique ones, you have to create 3D environments, models, skins, etc. Compared with 2D games, its very difficult, and thats where 2D game development is more attractive to potential game developers. 3D games are generally more advanced, better looking, and the player feels more involved with the realism of a 3D world. As a game developer, can 2D even compete with that? Even with its advanced scripting and simplicity? To summarize the main point of the topic, is 2D game creation a thing of the past? Or are they still able to compete against 3D? For you players out there, would you still consider playing 2D games even with your Wii's, XBox360's and PS3's?
  9. What does remembering have to do with controlling the dreams? That's a little bit confusing. Personally I cant control my dreams. To me its completely random occurrence. In rare cases the closest I can come to it is being aware what is going on in the dream. Evidence for that is waking up and being disappointed(in some cases, if its a good dream). I think its possible some people mistake that for being able to control a dream. No offense to anyone, but my opinion is that it is not possible to control your dreams. To me it doesn't seem possible. Then again if something as crazy as spontaneously being somewhere else in your mind when you're sleeping and your brain is in sleep mode, I suppose it could be possible. I don't know any, but I think you may be mislead by those kind of sites. I think dreams are mostly random, and should be interpreted by the dreamer if interpreted at all.
  10. One problem I think with UFO's is that they are usually seen at night time in the dark, right? The thing is, it's dark. You can't see anything. Just everything in the sky is a UFO because its unidentified as you cannot see it. I'm sure people see many things in the dark that look just like the things in the movies. I do not think there a beings from other planets flying in our skys, or ever have been for that matter. But when you think about it, the universe is so big, what counts as an alien or other living organism from outer space? No one knows just what kinds of things are out there or what they look like, they could be so small we cant even see them. So I say "I don't care about that".
  11. I'm pretty sure the temperature in my country(according to the news) has actually decreased, or isn't higher than it is in previous years. Not exactly a decrease, but not an increase. Though it is really measurable over a few years? I think a hoax or not, whatever problems we may face on the issue in future years, the worlds scientists will find solutions to them. I dont really think it matters if it's fake or not, it's not really worth worrying about at the moment.
  12. I setup a custom account for a specific directory and I cannot login with the domain, username and password. I get an authentication error. And I'm using SmartFTP but im sure that is not a problem. I can also log in fine with the main FTP account, but obviously i dont want members using that. Sorrry for the late reply, I sort of forgot about this topic...
  13. Jogging or running does not build your abs. At least I don't think they do. Have you ever been for a run and had sore abs as a result afterwards? You may have a bit of excess fat on your stomach and have abs underneath. If you lose a bit of weight through running and you stomach gets tighter then it could look like you are getting abs by running. And I suppose you would be. I personally enjoy running a lot. Its great exercise and great for the health too. The problem where I'm living though is there aren't too many places you can go running, unless running through town is your thing. I think jogging is for tired people though. If you are going to train, you may as well do it right. Run and a good pace, not too fast though, so you can run a reasonable distance. At the start of the year I used to get up at 5am to go train for athletics. Its something I enjoy but haven't got the fitness for. For example for the first round of athletics i could only keep a good pace for 300m in the 400m run. After that I trained and ran almost everyday for a good distance and I was able to get a placing in my province. Although now that is finished I dont train anymore. I probably wouldnt run to stay in shape either. I play a bit of rugby and soccor and that keeps me fit. Both involve a lot of running so its great.
  14. My whole site for members is php powered, but if only it had 7000 members... Thanks for the reply OpaQue. This topic can be closed now.
  15. My site and forum have been down for the last 4 hours. It appears to be the php scripts only that do not work, as every other part of my site is working okay. But my site is a php powered CMS and forum. This down time has actually been happening a lot. Its particularly frustrating when trying to add content on the site(joomla), and the page times out and everything gets lost and I have to start over again. It is hard to have a community when the site is never working. When is my site going to come right? And why all the down time? I noticed that in server status the server status has a red light, so I assume something's not working right.
  16. Happy easter everyone!Over here we do not celebrate easter so much as a christian holiday. A bit like Christmas for most(that i know of anyway). It came at the perfect time this year, I get a five day holiday. I'm pretty sure this is in the wrong section by the way.
  17. I think their service was too good. It attracted so many people, and they couldn't handle the large costs because of all the people making accounts. They had a donation system up asking people to donate to keep the service alive. I think in the end they had to start charging to cover the bills of such a popular service. I don't think they had any choice in the end.

    Joomla Support

I posted this at the Joomla support forums, but their forums are completely useless. Hopefully there are some Joomla users here that may be able to help me out on this...On my Joomla site I have over 1100 members. At the moment they are all set to the "registered group". The registered group can basically just see content, not submit or anything else. On my site I would like the members to be able to submit Articles(like the Author usergroup), and their articles to NOT require approval by an administrator. It would take too long to change each member's group to "Author", so how can I give the "Registered" usergroup the same permissions as the "Author" usergroup, as well as turning off the approval of new articles?I hope someone here knows what im talking about. Thanks,Mark.
  19. I opened up some other php scripts to see how the require_once function works when retrieving files in the same directory. I managed to get it to work. Must be a coincidence I was able to get it working though. This what I did: define('CONF_BASE', dirname(__FILE__) );define( 'DS', DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR );require_once ( CONF_BASE .DS.'configuration.php' ); To check it was actually pointing to that actual configuration file, i changed the name in the script and got an error. Other things I tried I didnt get an error, but it wasn't pointing to any particular file either. I think all is working now. Thanks for the help jlhaslip.
  20. Thank you for your reply. I do have a question though. The file that both softwares need to access is the configuration.php file. To setup the directory to access this, the code is: require_once($bpfConfig['joomla_path'].DS."configuration.php"); I have this file(configuration.php) moved to forums/bpforum (bpforum being the sub-driectory of the forums directory, where one of the config files that access's configuration.php is located). So how would I alter that line to point to the configuration.php file, and not being affected by base_opendir?
  21. Ah, Okay. Well the website is located in the root folder(public_html), and the forum in a forums directory. So for example my website is located at mydomain.trap17.com/, and the forum at mydomain.trap17.com/forums/. The integration script has a configuration script for both the forums and website. The configuration script located in the forums directory requires a set physical path(which is "/public_html") and a URL to the website. I think this is where open_basedir comes into play. The other configuration script located in the websites directory is pretty much the same. It requires the physical path of the forum("/public_html/forums") and the URL. This is the actual error I'm getting: So I think it is trying to access the configuration file of the website, but doesn't have permission. The forum and website run fine until a member logs in or out, or when editing members etc.
  22. I use my Xisto account for a website and a forum. Both are a big part of the site, and community based. Members can add content to the website as well, and post on the forums. I need both softwares to be integrated, so members can register on the forums and be able to use their account for both the forum and the website. That is not the issue though, I have had them integrated, but since open_basedir was enabled, I'm obviously getting an error. For the forum to access the necessary files from the website, it needs to access them in a higher directory, which open_basedir does not allow. So if it stays like it is now, my members will have to make two accounts. Furthermore, I have to make all the content on the website viewable by all guests, just so members don't have to register twice. I would like to make some content on the site only viewable by members, but I cannot make them register twice. What are options here, if any? Is it simply impossible to get the integration of the two softwares to work?
  23. I'm thinking about moving hosts now. My Site and my forum are integrated, so users can use both the site and forum with one account. With this restriction it's not possible anymore. I'm so disappointed, this is very important for my site. What am I going to do now...
  24. I recently made 5USD of my 110mb.com account that I mentioned earlier. It had those features which you can only get by posting and paying, but I didnt have to do anything. So 110mb.com is good for something. The MySQL is so bad(at least was when I was there) that it wouldn't load even 100kb of my database when I wanted to move. So users are unable to back up their databases. That's a disaster waiting to happen. On Xisto I backup my databases daily(using an automatic script). I've had to use a backup once which saved my forum, and saved a lot of lost information. If you want a place to store files or just for playing around with web stuff, 110mb.com is good. For running a community, I wouldn't recommend it.
  25. I'm the third person to post in this topic from New Zealand. I'd have to give it 9/10. I think it's a great country and that there's nothing wrong with it. We're not at the top of the list for anything bad(crime, poverty etc.). I think that many people from other countries recognize New Zealand as the place that Lord of the Rings was filmed in, and Peter Jackson the Director being a New Zealander. One thing we are at the top of in the world(apart from Rugby) is our woman are apparently the sluttiest in the world(according to data from a contraceptive company). Apparently they have the most sexual partners in the world. In contrast to that, we were the first country to let woman vote.
