  1. Hi dau1970. It's great to have you here. You are right, Xisto is a great site and great place to learn about almost anything too Just read the rules and make sure you follow them and you will have an awesome experience here. All the best
  2. I hate to say this itssami, but submitting your website to Google, Yahoo, MSN or other major search engines is a waste of time and even a bit risky To get your site listed in Google, or other search engines you simply need to get links pointing to your site form other sites (backlinks). The search engines pick your site from these other already indexed sites as they crawl them. If you get a number of links from pages with good PageRank you will be indexed real fast without having to use that "add url" option And the risky part? Well submitting your site to search engines every now and then will make search engines labellling you a "search engine spammer". Trust me you don't want to end up there I understand why some people do it, however. Some search engine submission services try to give us an impression that getting indexed in search engines is laborious and you need to submit every now and then, so that "search engines don't forget you". This is totally nonsense. They just want to get your money! Just get backlinks, OK? This does work moldboy, but not with every forum. Some forum administrators add a rel=nofollow to all external links. This includes links in signatures. Some use javascript links, and some redirects, so search engines won't see your links. They do this so that search engines only see their own links and increase their PageRank as their would be reduced links on their pages. They also do this to avoid linking to bad neighbourhoods like link farms etc. If you are signing up on a forum solely to inrease your backlinks, I suggest you do the following before you sign up: Check to see if signatures appear to non logged in members (guests), Open a single thread with some signatures and view it's source. Analyse the external links to see if they are not employing the methods I mentioned above, Lastly check the robots.txt to see if the admin is not blocking viewtopic.php etc. PLEASE NOTE: By "solely to inrease your backlinks" I don't mean spamming forums in any way. If you decide to join any forum, do us all a favor and contribute meaningfully. After all, you are getting backlinks in return aren't you?
  3. I?m one person who doesn?t anticipate ever buying forum software. I?m happy with the open source packages around. I have tried a few, including phpBB and SMF. I?m currently running MyBB. Indeed this is a great piece of software with many features. As for support, I?m not really worried. I know my way around PHP and can sort out errors by myself. But the forums are always there for those who don?t. Many times, the problems that people encounter are not unique to them. A few experienced users can always come to you rescue if you ask in the right forum.
  4. It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I mean, why code in PHP when all you want to do is create a simple web page with the text and images? One thing I can say for certain is that server side coding is better when you compare it with client side. For example, when trying to enhance my pages with a few tricks that cannot be done in HTML I would go for PHP rather than JavaScript. Why? It is very easy for your visitors to miss the functionality of your pages when you code client side. For example some people surf with JavaScript disabled A portion of those people who do, don?t even know it and when they become aware of it they don?t know how to enable it, or if they should? They don?t know what JavaScript is altogether For the sake of voting I will say PHP rocks. That?s because you can do any little trick you can imagine. I have been coding my keyword research tool in PHP for the past two years and I really enjoy it

    Hello All

Hey Mago, it's good to have you here. I'm still somewhat new around here too but am really enjoying it already. This is a great community and the hosting is awesome I'm not really into anime and manga, but I've got a couple of friends who run a site on it. Oh well, maybe one day I will let them talk me into joining and try it out
  6. Eh-h dude. Congratulations. You don't have any contract with this host. Their terms of service are non existant This is a very good sign of disorganization. I say dump it before wasting your time.
  7. No problem Melvin. You have started on the right track. When I started, I was nothing more than a webmaster. I just knew how to create website so I jumped into affiliate marketing without even trying to learn how to market effectively. It took me time to swallow my pride and decide to do some research I like helping people avoid the mistakes I made. So feel free to ask anything you like. I'm sure a lot of members around here will be glad to help too.
  8. Melvin, deciding whether to market as an affiliate or create your own products depends on various factors and your own circumstances. Either decision you make has its own merits and demerits. You will just have to decide which demerits you can put up with Here are a few factors you may need to take into consideration when making this decision Having your own product gives you the freedom to set your own profit margins. You decide how much profit you want to make for every product you sell. You will also be able to set up your own affiliate program and decide how much commissions you want to pay your affiliates. Setting up an affiliate program is very easy and you dont even have to buy affiliate software to get started. You can get a lot of experienced marketers promoting for you if you plan your affiliate program carefully. Marketing your own product, however, brings with it a heavier burden. You would need to provide support to your customers and fast. This can be frustrating if you are marketing as an individual. The sheer volume of support queries you can get, especially if you are running a successful affiliate program, can wear you out. This is where affiliate marketing becomes attractive. With affiliate marketing, the support that you need to provide is limited. If you decide to build an email list for your marketing campaigns then you may need to provide basic support to build a trust relationship with your subscribers. You can also simply direct all queries to your merchant if you like. What I really admire about affiliate marketing, however, is the possibility of getting paid for leads you generate. The leads would not need to buy anything. This kind of affiliate program is usually found in affiliate networks, as bigger merchants are usually the ones that practice it. You can also drop none converting merchants whenever you like. With affiliate marketing you can also launch your site much faster as you would not need to carry out some marketing research that is necessary when making your own product. For example, you would not need to research on a appropriate pricing strategy. However, as an affiliate, you wont have access to the merchants website files. Hence you will not be able to integrate it with your affiliate program. This means you would need to market all by yourself Bearing these in mind, I say if you dont have the money to outsource support or build your own support team, its better to start off as an affiliate marketer. It will also help you acquire the necessary skills you will find very helpful when you decide to finally promote your own products. As you have noticed already, there are many ways of marketing your site. Which can be overwhelming All these help you build long a steady and long lasting traffic to your website. You will need a focused approach, however. Trying to implement them all at once will confuse your marketing strategy and makes it difficult to measure your success with a particular method. Try to dominate one strategy first and then move on when you build a steady and reliable traffic with that method. SEO is an ongoing process which starts the moment you start gathering content for your website. You would need to use appropriate keywords. When first introducing a site, I always start by forum marketing. I love it because of the instead traffic that it builds. You also build a lot of one-way backlinks (for SEO) fast plus you can target your specific audience in their numbers. Put your site in your signature for the backlinks but for traffic you need to mention the site in your post. Make it the center of attention and you will get a lot of click throughs. Be very careful not to spam though. Mention it only when it is absolutely necessary. You can create the environment to make it necessary to mention it Just be creative. A great way to get highly targeted forums is to search for intitle:keyword forum in Google. For example if I wanted to market a SEO related site I would search for intitle:"seo forum" in Google. I can then join these forums and start my marketing campaign TIP: You will get more click throughs if you try to be the first one to reply questions. This way, anyone who reads the original post is likely to read your reply and click through to whatever site you mention in your post if its not familiar to him or her.
  9. I'm now officially hosted here at Xisto! Awesome serverph was right. My account was approved within 24 hours This host is way beyond what I expected.
  10. How I came across Xisto is a bit of a long story. I started by doing a search on Google, then I landed on some blog with web host reviews. I don?t even remember the blog now but it had quite exhaustive reviews. Out of all the hosts listed there I short listed three. Xisto and other two?I bookmarked all the three but I decided to go for one that didn?t require any posting (Xisto and the other host require posting on forum). However, I came to realize that my host of choice cut down the features a lot, no statistics and SMTP I checked out the other host and for a couple of months, I was really pleased with the host, except that it was a lot harder to fulfill the monthly posting requirements there. But the real reason I decided to call it quits was because of my latest project. It requires Zend Optimizer, this host did not have it So I decided to try Xisto. I really like it here. I even have more space and bandwidth than I had with all the previous hosts. I also get a whole lot of other features here and best of all, there are no monthly commitments I always curse myself when I come to think that I didn?t choose Xisto in the first place. However, I think it has helped me realize how good Xisto really is
  11. I love blogging and creating websites. Since I consider myself a self proclaimed webmaster with a passion for blogging, I decided to call myself blogmaster. This is the name I use on many forums I?m affiliated to. I have also adopted it as some sort of a middle name for me as I also use it as a username for some other sites that are not forums at all. Whenever I find blogmaster is already taken, I use BlogLover.
  12. I sincerely apologize for that. Didn?t mean to be rude. I didn?t realize Xisto - Web Hosting also offers reseller accounts. Great packages too. Next time I will refer to them instead.
  13. There are many other ways of making money besides Google AdSense. All you have to do is decide how you want to make the money. For example if you want to get paid per single click, per lead, per sale, per thousand page impressions, fixed monthly income, you name it. I guess it all depends on what you like and the type of traffic you get. For example students have been said to be notorious for <- snipped -> ads. So if the bulk of your visitors were students, then you would probably want to consider signing up with other pay per click programs like Yahoo, since you dont like AdSense. I personally like to go for reseller programs that give me total control of my profits. I also like affiliate programs that pay per lead rather than per sale. Its easier to make money on these.}
  14. Hi, Do you need any help marketing your Xisto hosted website? I know there is a lot of information around if you look hard enough. You can also post a question in any relevant forum here. However, posting here specifically will grab my attention and I will be obliged to help you out, whenever I can. I am not exactly claiming to be an Internet marketing guru. I have been involved in Internet marketing for about three years now. I read a lot and like to experiment new methods of getting traffic to my site, and trying to convert the traffic into sales. I particularly have a passion for keyword research to such a point that I have written my own keyword research script that tries to help webmasters pick the relevant keywords for their sites. I also read a lot of copywriting material. If you need help marketing your website just post your question, even if you don't have a clue where to start. I'm not asking for any payment for this. I'm simply offering my help to Xisto webmasters who need. Call it giving back to the community if you like
  15. Like I said, I know the CEO personally and this is a legitimate site. The only reason I didnt want to post the link here was because he had informed me that he is still polishing a few things on the site. I would have posted it here eventually but if you insist, the name of the site is Resell Fortune. As you can see, there is really nothing to hide and the site can do with a lot of publicity. Its good for their business and Im sure they will be looking for a lot of it when they are quite ready.
  16. Hello Mich. Thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the links. I have been through the rules and the read me page already, but having them here will serve as a quick reference in future. I agree that Xisto is the best host. Its easier to get enough hosting credits to sustain you for a month here than it is with some of its competition (or all?). serverph also informs me that it takes one or two days to get your hosting application approved. Thats awesome!
  17. Yes, but these people are not targeted enough to waste your time on, considering the time it takes to surf. Again this doesn?t help much
  18. If I understood you well atarplus, we both agree that getting good backlinks to your site is essential, right? What you are not sure of is the link exchange part. Quality (not just quantity) backlinks are a great way to get your site noticed by search engines for indexing, getting a higher PageRank (in Google) and ultimately get higher rankings. Besides search engine optimization, good backlinks are also great for direct traffic. They will get your site noticed by these websites? visitors. My answer as to whether link exchange is necessary or not is it depends. It depends on your site?s neighborhood. A neighborhood is a network of sites that are considered by search engines as being authorities in your particular field. If it is a trend within your neighborhood that you link to their site before they can link to you, then you should consider linking back to them. A lot of links on your site are not a good idea as they reduce the importance of your own internal links. You should be very careful as to whom you link to. A link to a site that is considered as bad by search engines can result in you being considered bad too can even be banned. Reciprocal links are also not helpful for both parties. I always make it a point that I run a separate web site that I always put up links for those sites that require reciprocal links so I get these links away from my important site. It also breaks the links so it doesn?t appear ?artificial? as Google calls it. Because traditional link exchange is very slow and time consuming, I always kick start my backlinks by posting in relevant forums, blogs etc
  19. Affiliate marketing is not just hype. You can indeed make money off affiliate marketing. I agree that many Internet marketers hype a lot of things these days. What you need to do is cut through the hype and try to see the logic behind it. Affiliate marketing is like salesmanship. We all know that sales persons have been around for a long time. Amazon (as I?m made to understand they are the ones that brought it online first) simply brought this brick and mortar strategy online. What I will tell you, however, is that it?s easier to fail than it is to succeed online. I struggled a lot in order to start making any money online until I decided to learn the real ?secrets? (the so called secrets are not really secrets at all) behind online marketing. Many merchants will tell you to simply copy and paste a code to your website and start making money. Yes this is possible if you already have a well trafficked website with the right audience too. If not then you won?t generate a single sale!Besides traffic there are also some other things you will need to know. For example, how good the tracking software of the merchant really is. It?s very possible to generate loads of sales for a company and not get a single cent in commission. There a lot of things I can tell you about affiliate marketing, being an affiliate marketer myself and also an owner of an affiliate program, I really understand how the whole system works. In a nutshell, do your research first before you decide to join any affiliate program. If you are not sure which kind of research you need to do post your questions here and I will help you out whenever I can.All the best
  20. Thanks a lot for the help guys. I?m really glad to hear that. I hope it doesn?t take long to have a hosting application approved here. I had to wait for about a month for my account to be approved elsewhere
  21. What exactly do you mean? Or what do you want to do with it? Do you intent to host peoples websites there and become a host yourself? If this is what you want then I may be able to help. I know just a site that lets you resell hosting services without any initial investment, set up fees, or monthly costs. It gives you a private label status too. Which means no one will know whom your parent host is, if you dont tell them yourself. The site has not yet launched to the public though so I cannot post a link here. I only know of this site because I know the C.E.O of the company personally. If this is what you want them you can send me a private message so I can give you the link.
  22. Hi kery. Its nice to meet you too. I think I will enjoy it here too. I really enjoy interacting with new friends (and helping out whenever I can) on forums. Im sure we will all help you out whenever we can. Just post your question Thanks for the warm welcome shigajet. Indeed you are one of the veterans here. I can see you joined back in 2005 and have more than a thousand posts to your credit. Thats quite a record you set there. Im sure I will benefit a lot from your experience.
  23. Hi, I have a new site Im working on that requires Zend Optimizer Version 3.0.0 or later as it is written on a technology encoded by Zend Guard. Since Im new here and do not yet have a hosting account there is no way for me to check through phpinfo() I would like to know if it is installed or not. From the features page, I can see that you give Shell Access, which will make it possible for me to install it myself, but it would save me a lot of pain if it is installed already EDIT: Okay, I have been searching around. This post seems to answer my question. But can somebody please tell me the version we running here?
  24. Hi,My name is blogmaster. I came here to get hosting for my latest site but more importantly, make some friends.About five months ago when I was looking for a place to host my site, I came across Xisto through a search on Google. I didn?t sign up then. I signed up with a different host and thought I had made the best choice I have just discovered, whilst working on my latest website, that my current host does not have Zend Optimizer installed. I require Zend Optimizer for this website to work. I could have installed it myself but then I don?t have shell access. So here I am?
