Will This Work? will this trick google?
AnkitGoswami replied to AnkitGoswami's topic in Search Engines
yeah i tried it as a test. the site rank didn't improve much though I didn't get blacklisted. Anyways I think it is much more important to have some good sites linking to you than having meta related content and you can only do that if you have some good content. -
dreamweaver is awesome. Can't do without it. That's why I've been looking for a linux counterpart but with no success. got dreamweaver 4 working with the help of wine but I'd rather code in notepad (seriously). Anybody know of a good web development software for linux? And has anyone tried dreamweaver cs3 yet?

A True Life Incident That Happened In India
AnkitGoswami replied to OpaQue's topic in General Discussion
hilarious. I really laughed even though it hurts as I have a cracked rib. -
It was a wet Saturday evening, my uncle, who had come to visit from Canada decided that we go out for dinner. Since my sister was too tired from work she decided to stay back so my mother, uncle and I took the car to go to a pizza outlet some 10 kms from my house.I was driving our Maruti Suzuki Zen with my uncle in the passenger seat and my mother at back. On our way back I took a wrong turn which put us on a road without a divider. I took a U-turn and started driving back on the same road. Now my side of the road was completely deserted while there was some moderate traffic on the other side. I was driving at some 50-60 km/h when suddenly a car coming from the opposite direction in the wrong way appeared in front of me and we collided head-on.My first reaction on seeing the other car bounce away from ours even as our car came to a sudden stop was disbelief. How could an accident like this happen to us. Then I felt the searing pain in my chest and heard the painful cries of my mother and uncle. I had a blurred vision of blood dripping from my nose (my glasses had fallen off) and smoke rising from the front of the car. Mom and uncle were bleeding excessively and as some people came to help, I realized that I was the least hurt among the three of us. Some kind hearted man took us to the nearest hospital in his van. Both my mother and uncle were covered in blood. On reaching the hospital I called my sister and told her about the accident. While they gave us first aid in the hospital, I realized that my mother was in fact in a worse condition than my uncle who had a lot of cuts on his face from the shattered glass. My mother was bleeding excessively from the head. I followed the nursing staff as they took both my uncle and my mother in the emergency room. My sister arrived at the hospital so I could get some treatment of my own while she stood by our mother. I?had?some?minor?injuries?including bruises all along the area where you wear the seat belt and I fear to think what would have happened had I not been wearing one.My?mother?and?uncle?were?discharged?after?the?doctors?stopped?their?bleeding?and?applied?some?stitches. Mother vomited a few times but was otherwise alright, no one had suffered any fractures. Then I learned that the driver of the other car was even more badly hurt than my mother. The other guy was alright though. Seeing their condition we thought it best not to press charges and they agreed to pay for our damages. We hired a crane to get our car back home. The next day I learned that one of my ribs had a small fracture. The combined speed of the two cars was in excess of 120 km/h and if the cars had hit?a?bit?along?the?sides?instead?of?completely?head?on?people?sitting?on?those?sides?would?have?been?crushed .?Seat?Belts?save?lives.?Period.

Anyone finished it without cheats? I played this game a while back and could not complete it even after playing it regularly for some 5-6 weeks. It was a very long game but I loved it as it had all the stuff from the previous versions and more plus it had awesome graphics even with my onboard card. It's sad that I had to resort to cheats to end this game, never had to do that with any other game.

Yahoo recently launched a browser based version of their messenger plus now yahoo saves your chat history. So now yahoo has finally given two of the services for which I used gtalk. Now if you compare the two clients gtalk scores only in simplicity while yahoo gives much more features like launchcast radio, chat with msn users (which is a new feature),?chat?rooms,?environments?etc.?So?now?if?you?compare?the?two?yahoo?messenger?wins?hands?down?(it also works better with dialup!).?But?I?still?use?gtalk?

All Games Banned In Greece face a fine if you have them
AnkitGoswami replied to quiksilver's topic in General Discussion
wow, that's torture. how could they make a stupid law like that and what do they wish to achieve? Also how are they planning to implement this? In my city they have banned 'loud' music while driving and I can tell you, the traffic police are having a hard time implementing this. -
I think global warming is overrated. I remember reading something which is why I think this way:Assume global warming is true and is occuring right now. Now consider how global warming?actually?happens.?The?excess?amount?of?greenhouse?gases?in?the?atmosphere create?a?sort?of?planet?wide?greenhouse,?that?is,?that?the?heat?from?the?sun?enters?earths?atmosphere?in?the?form of infrared radiation but is not allowed to escape from it because of change in its wavelength (these gasses block certain wavelengths of electromagnetic waves). So the temperature rises. OK, so far so good, but now think about the effects this rise of temperature would have on the atmosphere instead of how it would affect our lives. One obvious effect would be the increased rate?of?evaporation?of?water.?So?now?we?have?more?water?vapour?in?the?air?and?what?will?more?water?vapour in?the?atmosphere?do??It?will?reflect?off?sun rays?so?less?infrared?rays?would?enter?the?atmosphere?in?the?first?place?nullifying?the?greenhouse?effect.? So that is why I think Global Warming is just over hyped, the earth has a system that can take care of itself and some smoke from our cars and factories can't hurt it.

I've done a lot of research on the best possible way to partition my hard disks and I think my partitions are working wonderfully right now. I have little fragmentation and the file access time is less. My computer is now almost 2 years old and still works like a charm (although I have added a HDD and 1GB extra ram since I bought it). Here are the main points that you need to keep in mind while partitioning you hard disk:1)If you have more than 1 hard disk then partition them in such a way so that both the hard disks get to work simultaneously. Since both hard disks will be working together, they will get work done in lesser time. Even?in?an?one?hard?disk?system?try?to?work?on?multiple?partitions?at?a?time. 2)Make sure you identify which partitions would contain variable amounts of data and the ones which will, more or less, contain the same amount of data.3)FAT32 is faster for partitions less than 10GBs4)Cluster size: Larger clusters waste more space but generally provide for slightly better performance because there will be less fragmentation and more of the file will be in consecutive blocks. Now here is what you can do to implement the above:Keep a separate partition for the pagefile. Normally?the?size?of?this?partition?(your pagefile size)?should?be?1.5?times?the?amount?of?ram?that?you?have also keep this size fixed.This?will?also?reduce?fragmentation?on?your?other?partitions.?You?can?format?this?partition?using?FAT32?as?it?will?be?less?than?10GB and try to keep it on the hard disk which does not have your OS. ? Keep a separate partition for Proram files and My Documents on the other hard disk than the one having your OS.This will result in?a?more?or?less?fixed?size?for?you?OS,?so?install?your?OS?on?a?10-15?GB partition.Keep a high cluster size for the partitions containing media files (2 KB or 4 KB) and enable ntfs compression. Ntfs?compression lowers?the performance?a?little?bit?so?if?you?have?plenty?of?free?space?don't?use?it. Dynamic Disks:Converting your Hard Disks to Dynamic Disks has some advantages like more options while partitioning like striped volumes and spanned volumes.A striped volume is basically a volume split over two hard disks and data distributed among these volumes in stripes so both the hard disks work while accessing the same data. This obviously has some speed benifit, however, it also has some serious negatives. You?will?not?be?able?to?access?your?hard?disk?from?a?different?computer?nor?will?you?be?able?to?install?another?operating?system.?You?will?have?to?format?your?entire?hard?disk?if?you?want?to?go?back?to?using?a?basic?disk. So just keep the above in mind while reformatting your hard disks and you can really speed up your system.

SPIDER-MAN 3 ROCKS!!!! This has gotta be the best superhero movie ever (I'd say X3 but maybe that's just 'cause I didn't like S-M 1 & 2).They didn't rush the film as I had feared and the film handled all the villians quite well. VENOM totally rocked and the twist from the original story was alright too. Only problem they didn't fix was Spider-Man's character which was the primary reason for me for hating the first two editions but I guess you get used to the fact that these movies revolve more around Peter Parker than spider-man (although that was fixed a bit in this one). Only regret: This is probably the last one. Why? See the Spoiler. Spoiler:

Hey I found an alternate use for the google translate service. Just use the option of translating a page into another language and it acts as a proxy. So you ca use it for anonimous browsing 'cause if you translate a Web page, and then follow a link from that page, you go to the translated version of the page rather than the original page.

I'm a big fan of Robert Ludlum and loved the Bourne series. Actually I was very dissapointed when I finished reading The Bourne Ultimatum (I thought I would never be able to read any other thriller). These 3 books (the bourne legacy, supremacy and ultimatum) are right up in the top 3 slots of the books that I have read. A few years back I heard about this book by Eric Van Lustbader called The Bourne Legacy. I never bothered about reading it as it wasn't a Ludlum but now I heard from a friend that it is quite good. Can anyone who has read it tell me if it lives up to the originals?

Check Out My New Site how do you like it?
AnkitGoswami replied to AnkitGoswami's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Thanks Saint_Michael for that review. What you pointed out is one of my greatest problems in web designing - I just design according to the browser I am using (I'm not a great html designer although i am quite good in flash and php). I usually end up overlooking these errors or when working in a team someone else just fixes them. This is actually the first time I'm making a site for myself as I usually do the web development for my college website and a student society website in a team of 3 to 5. I also did some projects related to web development but in all these sites my main contribution was in php and/or flash so I never actually had to deal with such problems as pages not looking identical in different browsers. Hopefully I will get this site to work the way it should and improve my designing skills. I eventually wish to shift my blog over to this site but that's gonna happen when I get rid of all the errors and get a little more time.
