Hi guys, Almost whole of last week till now NetBux was down and I was getting ready to accept it as another BIG internet SCAM. But it's back up today and seems like working fine now. That raises the rays of hope again Here's what they say: Now I really thank those people who've joined up under me again - and bcoz of them I've been able to gather around $30 through netbux and paypup so far. We need to raise more to keep the AntiLost site in good shape - so this goes out as a public appeal.. any takers, who'd join up and search for a good cause? Regards, m^e To signup at any of these services, you should use the following referral links: ============================= 1. Netbux: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 2. Fading Banner Causing Problems In Forums
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to banjosforpeace's topic in Web Hosting Support
This will take a little time to fix, as only OpaQue can do it - and right now, he's neck deep in his engineering exams. So give the poor guy some lax period - in fact most of the little problems that we keep facing day-to-day will all be gone once he's back. Kindly be a little patient till then :(Regards,m^e -

errr..uhm..lol..I told you that I never said all this but yea to your question -
yvonnefoong, That is a display of excellent attitude That's what we're here on this board for - to interact with each other, share our knowledge as much as we can - and in the process learn even more than that. That's how I figured it happens on this board... At least my PHP skills have increased by leaps and bounds alsmot overnight - from the BIG ZILCH that I had when I'd joined this board first...All the best in your grand quest for knowledge Have fun..

Simply remove the folder you installed it in, and then delete the SQL Database that you had specified to use with vBulletin - that should see to it. None of these forum systems require you to go through any extensive uninstall process.. Usually you can do it with just 2-3 short steps..Regards,m^e

Ui Component: Checkbox detect the checkbox value
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to sasa's topic in Programming
Flash MX has a new method to check for the check-state of checkboxes. It's called selected. Supposing your checkbox is named cbox, then cbox.selected would return you a boolean value stating whether its selected or not. Hope this helps -

Lol.. not that I know of - InvisionFree is still Free but it's in almost stone ages compared to the recent advances in Forum Systems. vBulletin and Invision Power are both fully commercial.. The only way to grab these is from someone who's got a registered copy and is willing to share it with you (okay - I didn't give u this advice ) Otherwise, SMF is your best bet. Ooo.. another one I completely forgot to mention is phpBB - even that's free and can be downloaded from https://www.phpbb.com/ .. Only problem with this is it's got some well known security issues as well as doesn't support multiple levels of subforums like IPB/vBulletin/SMF. You can have forums only one level deep in this one... Give it a shot - I'd say try out both SMF and phpBB parallely and see which one you can operate easier and feel more at home with.. Good luck -
See as long as the image is larger than the specified area, and overflow is set to auto, the scrollbars WILL turn up.. I learnt this while setting up a SMF board - the Avatar's used to turn up really ugly like that encased around with scroll bars. You can give it a second try though - increase the height and width by a good margin - say 60-80 pixels each and see the result.. If the picture area gets too big, you can always go back to the file and tone the figures down.. I say, give it one more shot this way and let me know. If it's still not fixed, we'll figure out some alternative :(All the best..

Content In Mambo Problem Help
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to ASR1405241491's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Hi Asr, I've never encountered such a problem ever - so I can't help you out in fixing that. A reinstall is probably your best bet. On the other hand, if you want to grab your content off the database, then opne up your mambo db using phpMyAdmin from the cPanel and browse the table named, mos_content - assuming you used the default mambo prefix mos for your tables. This table is most likely to hold your content... Try backing up the database through phpMyAdmin first and then delete/reinstall mambo.. and see if it works out.. All the best -

Hi warriors - while Invision Power Board is really powerful in handling high load forums, and vBulletin is one of the best when you consider the looks (hundreds of really beautiful skins available for it) - you might also consider using the freeware opensource ones like SMF - Simple Machines Forum. At it's current release it has come upto almost it's commercial counterparts - though it still lacks in many respects... But SMF is free and easy to setup. From Fantastico in cPanel it's a one-click job. Give it a try - or see it in action... http://www.simplemachines.org/ It's got hundreds of cool skins/modules/add-on stuff that you can plug into your board to give it even more functionality I'd say try SMF for a starter... Here's a list of demonstration forums: 1. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 2. http://ww4.forum500.com/ 3. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 4. Recover Tables From A MySQL .frm File
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to warriors1405241493's topic in Programming
Here's a page from the MySQL manual that might help you solve your problem: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ I'm not too sure whether you can do it just on the basis of .frm files - do you have the .ibd files or ibdata file with them too ? If you have those the process becomes far easier... Read that page and see if it helps - and if it does, please come back here and make a post on what you did to solve your problem. That'll certainly be very helpful for all of us.. Thanks & Regards, m^e -
Can't Seem To Set Up Forum
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Glockmeister1405241492's topic in Web Hosting Support
Not really.. when you create a MySQL database on Xisto, your database as well as your username are prefixed with you cPanel username.. i.e. Say you cPanel login name is: jipman Now I will create a MySQL db named mydb. This db will actually get named as: jipman_mydb For my username - for this db, I choose, jippy.. This gets translated as: jipman_jippy Password stays whatever you set. So when I access this db (which is jipman_mydb), I'll provide it the usename, jipman_jippy and my pass. You php script should use these values accordingly to connect - a simply glocky@localhost wouldn't do. Assuming that you cPanel username is glocky - try something like glocky_mydbusername@localhost to try access the db. This is universal - i.e. for whoever has a hosting account here - your database and database-username will always get prefixed with your cpanel login name and an "-" (underscore) followed by the ACTUAL username you chose to connect to the db... It's clearly stated in big bold black - when you use the cPanel MySQL DB manager to create a db and users... You can't miss it. Infact, immediately after creating your db/user you'll see the results in this format too... This - I'm talking from the domain name point of view - i.e. if you have ur own domain linked with your asta account. In case of subdomains, you might have to add the subdomain part after your name too - am not sure. Best way to find out is create a database through the MySQL Db manager in cPanel and see the results. -
I don't know anything about graymatter either - but if you know where the template file that is used to generate the page is (it's usually in some sort of a template folder or named index.template.php - something similar to that..) If you cannot find it in any of the template php files, this part might reside in a .css file too.. usually any such files are prefixed with "template" or "style" If u manage to spot the file, take a look into it - you'll find some code like this: <style type="text/css">div.content {position: absolute;top: 45px;left: 25px;[tab][/tab]height: 445px;[tab][/tab]width: 400px;[tab][/tab]overflow: auto;border: 0;padding: 5px;} See the parameters specifying the width and height ? Increase those by 10-20 pixels each and save the file.. Try reloading the page again and see..The overflow: auto option that you see in that css, is whats making those scroll bars turn up.. If your content is larger than the specified area in width and height, it overflows using scrollbars.. That's what this piece of code means.. Try and let me know if you succeeded All the best

Hi, Firs tof all - both of them are Hard Disk Drive controllers, althought SCSI was desinged to do much more than simply control Hard Drives. SCSI was a mix of the IDE controller plus USB ports (not really - but imagine the marriage of both these functions) - giving rise to a device that could drive your HDD at high speeds as well as provide an interface connect external devices like CD-Rs, Scanners, Cameras etc. to your system. IDE could ONLY deal with your HDDs. SCSI card's were supposed to be primarily for very high-performance systems - like high stress network servers, where IDE would have failed really bad. IDE was more of a desktop standard. Now with the coming of SATA interface, the difference is kind of blurred out. You can find more informations at these links: 1. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/# 2. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 3. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ 4. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Hope this helps. How To Increase Digit Values Automaticaly?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Sadas's topic in Programming
I dont think ANY database can do that - that is manage data on it's own. All databases are designed to simply store data - alongwith that they provide you with a whole set of advanced tools and stored procedures with which you can manipulate this data as you wish. According to what I know, all sorts of manipulation instructions has to come from some external source - for example your php script or some sql source file which is fired off at a regular interval and so on.. Your best bet is to use php - although I've no idea how to make that php script fire-off at a specific time everyday.. alternative it to use the mysql command line client in conjunction with a source file which contains the appropriate sql commands to update your data. This whole thing has to be set down in the form of a script which is run by cron daily at some specific time... Or if you're using windows, then you can write a windows service that does the same.. That's the only way I see it happening.. -

To Swap, Or Not To Swap ? What are your swapping settings ?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to qwijibow's topic in Software
Windows swap is utter b***s**t. There's NEVER any performance gain - not that I've noticed.. It is advised that one should change the default swap settings and allocate more swap space on each drive.. this actually serves only to slow the system down, according to what I've experienced.. Why do you even want to talk about memory management in windows... it's it in a fabled class of its own
