Stepping Inside How I feel about all of this.
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to TheKnowledge's topic in Introductions
Not quite - coz how much ever you write, any posts in this section do not count towards your credits or post counts. Only when you start posting in the main forums - all that get counted. Wahahaaa... Thanks for the vote of confidence warbird Now you've surely managed to kill all the birds in here Why don't you add something to this thread here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/81590-topic/?findpost=1064286265That would be most helpful Once again - thanks to all of you... -

How To Publish My Home Page?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to sunny152's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Yup .htm files are the same as .html files - no difference at all - only in the name of the file.. the content is 100% same. As far as I can recall, under the old DOS 8.3 naming scheme, files could have at the most 8 characters as name and 3 as extension. That was the time when .htm files were used as an alternative for html files. Now it should hardly matter - but just for clarity's sake, at least yours index file should be renamed with the .html extension. This will cause the web-server to have less headache in spotting the index page and won't make you run for aspirins... Regards, m^e -
Php Wont Connect To Mysql WONT WORK
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Cookiemonster1405241499's topic in Web Hosting Support
You should read your PMs regularly as well as check on your warnings - I had repeatedly warned and pm-ed you about NOT posting copied material without using QUOTES and proper source citations (you've to specify the EXACT PAGE you found the copied material on)...You lost over 80 credits because of that - and your credit count dropped way below -30, causing you hosting account to be deleted. If you want hosting, you've to make legitimate posts and re-apply for hosting again.I had sent you at least 3 pm-s about this and told you to check them on the shoutbox too - except that you never paid any heed nor replied back. -
Naah - don't worry about the reciprocal link to 4ppl - that's just bulls*** - although we'd be happy if you place a reciprocal link on your site linking back to Xisto. You can leave that reciprocal link field blank. Your pending page link will be approved whenever I visit the links database next - all pages hosted at Xisto will be approved anyways coz ultimately, the aim is to build up the most comprehensive directory of pages created by our members. Stepping Inside How I feel about all of this.
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to TheKnowledge's topic in Introductions
That is simply terrific - one of the best and most well-written introductions I've seen so far. Most introductions stop short of a "Hi I'm new here" - and most people do not even attempt to exercise their writing skills. Here at Xisto, we do attempt to keep the forums clean, posts well-written and slang free - to make it an overall enjoyable experience for our members. I shouldn't go overboard with it - but yea, we have achieved a fair degree of success in that respect. Don't worry about starting off in a remote corner of the board - just dive straight in and find any topic of your interest and start posting. We don't treat any questions here as the so-called "n00b"-ish ones - except that sometimes you'll find yourself redirected to an older thread. This of course happens only when you happened to have asked an age old question which has been repeatedly answered about a hundred times over. So it is advisable that you use the Search button in case you have a doubt about reposting an already posted & solved topic. As for the rest - on behalf of the Xisto staff, I take great pleasure in extending you a warm welcome. WELCOME ABOARD Regards, m^e -

Can I Delete All Files From My Home Folder ?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to Moody's topic in General Discussion
Yes you can. Leaving out the following folders and files you can delete all the rest: public_html public_ftp mail tmp Any files and folders that start with the character "." The rest you can happily wipe out. But don't delete the one's mentioned above or ur site might stop working. -
OpaQue posted an article right on this topic a few days back. Check it out first and see if it answers your queries. Find it here: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/85030-topic/?findpost=1064311206 Secondly, Nils had written some excellent articles on Robots.txt - search for that term on this board and you'll come up with those articles. Read them thoroughly and you'll get a good grasp of what to do and not to do with robots.txt. Regards, m^e

How To Publish My Home Page?
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to sunny152's topic in Websites and Web Designing
Simply design your page however you want - on your home computer. Make sure the first page that you want to load is named index.html or if you are using php then, index.php. Once you're done with designing your site simply use ftp to connect to your subdomain: ftp.sunnymusic.astahost.com - use your cpanel username/pass for this login. Once connected, you'll find a folder named public_html in your home drive. Dump your whole site there.. make sure your index.html is immediately under public_html or else the browsers wont be able to locate it. That's all you need to do. I haven't got any idea about your web-designing software. Go through its manual - most such softwares have an option to publish the site directly, in which case, you'll have to provide it with the same ftp login/pass and it'll automatically place your site in the correct folder (you'll have to specify the foldername too - public_html) Regards, m^e -
What Is Autoexe.nt ? i get this error
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to paypal.login's topic in Software
Autoexec.nt - is your Win2k/XP version of the old dos based Autoexec.Bat file. It simply is a text-based batch file containing a series of commands to be run at boot-time. Now you haven't mentioned anything about the errors you are getting - what you scanner reports, why you have a problem with that file and want to get rid of it.. without all that information its not possible to provide any solution. Normally, if its a valid autoexec.nt created by windows itself - it shouldn't even be detected in your scanner. It's a perfectly valid file, unless of course you're under attack by a worm, which created files similar to required system file. To a cross check on that file again - and first turn off the Hide extensions of known file types in windows explorer. Check whether the file is actually named autoexec.nt.pif or something similar - if so, THEN you might have a problem... Regards, m^e -
Mp3 Questions a question for a mp3 beginner like me
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to karlo's topic in Software
There surely are some file-comparison programs which can match up files with similar sizes and then analyze the content a bit to tell whether they are the same or not - although am not sure of their names. This can very well be done with a checksum routine - it the file contents are exactly the same, it'll always generate the same checksum. Why would you want to decompress a MP3 - decompression won't enhance the quality in any way !! You'll get to hear exactly the same frequencies as you hear in a compressed MP3.. When MP3 compresses a wav file - it cuts out a whole lot of frequencies which anyway wouldn't make an audible difference to the human ear. Andhow much it cuts out, depends on the encoding rate you choose... around 320kbps, it cuts out the least.. at 128kbps and less - it drops more.. When you decompress the MP3 - there's no way to get back these lost frequencies.. so your whole idea of "unlocking" the hidden sound will never work. Regards, m^e -
Lets keep this thread open and see what kind of responses it gets - if the discussion pertains ONLY TO the online registration methods involving networking concepts - then it's fine. But certainly we WONT PERMIT publishing of names of softwares/companies and their respective registration methods. Any general discussions on this topic is permitted.. But NO NAMES and NO SUGGESTIVE WRITING that can help you spot a software/company.

A Solution For Disabled Right Click On Web Page
miCRoSCoPiC^eaRthLinG replied to soleimanian's topic in Software
There's a much simpler way to do it in Firefox (and maybe also IE). I found this one from the Mozilla site. All you need to do is create a new bookmark (in the toolbar for easier access) - and in the URL of the bookmark type in: java script:void(document.oncontextmenu=null) Whenever you come across a page with blocked right-click menu, just click on this bookmark link and your context menu will come back right-away Have fun m^e -
