  1. The title says it all and there's not much to rephrashing this article, so I'm going to Quote the whole thing. The new fact that I learnt from this article - which came as a very pleasant surprise to me - is that the Centrino duo chip popularly known as NAPA was designed & developed in India !! 2. See the whole point of our hosting system is that we give hosting in exchange of Good posts. Also note that, credits transfer is possibly ONLY from one HOSTED member to another. If we allowed transfer of credits from non-hosted accounts, it'd beat the whole purpose. One can easily come in, make a few good posts, get hosting and never bother to post well after that. He can easily set up a bunch of fake accounts and keep posting short useless stuff - which will nevertheless give him 1-2 credits in each account - which he can then transfer to his hosted account and keep it going... That's not how it works here. You need to keep up a steady rate of posting against the hosting account. Hence, we've no such facility to transfer credits between the services AND between non-hosted to hosted accounts. Credits transfer is possible only between hosted accounts and that too when you have credits in excess of 30. Any amount over 30 credits is available for transfer - and there's a surcharge of 3% which we deduct everytime during transfers.
  3. Very good and much needed article.. Can you elaborate on this topic further?? Discuss more about how the different frequencies affect the music and what kind of fine-tuning is necessary for the various Genre of music ? Am pinning this topic.
  4. Hahaa.. cool Hello Good one dude.. welcome aboard and have a great stay.
  5. YOU DOLT You searched everywhere except the right place.. How about the How To's and Tutorials section ??? For almost every BBCode I created here I made a post and released the code alongwith explanations of how it works. Just look in this section under How To's: http://forums.xisto.com/topic/94-forum/ You'll find 4 long posts on BBCodes - 3 by me and 1 by vizskywalker all dealing with the BBCodes you posted above. They're quite easy actually.. and hardly need more than 4-5 lines of code in most cases.
  6. I found this very inetersting article which introduces you to some of the top notch hackers/spammers/scammers of the recent years. The way they've been described, they seems to be the kingpins of cybercrime in their own domains.. Here are some short excerpts: Very interesting reading.... 7. You see the above message - that explains why NONE of your mails from Xisto were ever reaching your mailbox at sapo.pt. Your email provider or ISP - whichever sapo.pt is, has got the Xisto.com domain blacklisted as a spammer domain for some reason - hence it's been rejecting all mails sent to your inbox from here. This is very strange - as all the bigger services like Yahoo, Gmail etc - none have problems with Asta. You should get in touch with your ISP and tell them to remove asta from their blacklist, or else this will never work out. Your only other option is to switch to a public email provider like Gmail.
  8. According to recent news on eWeek.Com, Google's going to release the combined byproduct of their past few years extensive research and development efforts on the AJAX Framework at the Sun JavaOne conference at San Francisco. The kit, titled as Google Web Toolkit or GWT is going to provide an exhaustive framework for Java-AJAX developers and is going really simplify development of applications similar to Google Maps or Gmail ever for the non-experts. 9. I didn't quite get your question.. If the XAMMP installer opens with a MD5 file - then there should a MD5 reader built into itself to check for the validity of the archive.. Why do you need a separate reader?? In any case - here's a tool I've been using for a long while. It's called HkSVF - it's a very compact lightweight program, that adds itself to your explorer shell and then onwards, when you right-click on any folder you can generate a MD5 or a SVF file for the contents of the whole folder. Alternatively, it can also check the contents of a folder against an existing MD5 or SVF file and point out if any file is corrupt. It's one hell of a handy tool - and I use it abundantly for my MP3 collectoin. It's free. Here's the download link: http://www.big-o-software.com/products/hksfv/
  10. Ooh this isn't anything to worry about Most likely you encounter this when you assign privileges through your cPanel MySQL DB Manager. As you can see the section is titled Connection Strings - this simply shows you a few common command syntaxes with which you can connect to your freshly created/modified MySQL database. If you notice carefully - there are two separate connection strings, that are displayed for your convenicne. One in is PERL, which utilizes the DBI library that provides a uniform wrapper to connect to a wide variety of databases. The second one is your standard PHP syntax for connection to MySQL... I believe these are placed simply for your convenience and to give you an indication as to which direction to head for, if you start writing code with these two more popular web-scripting languages.
  11. Google Noteboox is HERE I just gave it a shot and it seems a far more useful tool that it ever seemed to be. They've even got this cool little extension for Firefox and IE, which creates a little button in your status-bar called Open/Close Notebook. You can use that to make a tiny box pop-up and then can go on a note-adding rampage. The note addition proccess is really simply. You just select a whole bunch of text and/or graphics from any web-page and click on an Add Note button in that little popup and the content gets immediately added there as a note. The concept of labels is implemented here too - allowing you to easily categorize your added notes. Here are a couple of screenshots: ------------------------------------------------- You can even maintain multiple notebooks and select any among them to facilitate further grouping. There's an option called Full Page Preview in the extension, that takes you directly to the main site - with the same minimalistic UI as Gmail.. All in all a very good tool, I must say. Earlier on I used this tool called Local Website Archiver to save important info from pages or just single pages. But with that, there was always the problem of carrying the archive zip around. That's so totally gone now Hurraaaah !! Now all my code snippets can conveniently stay here and be accessible from anywhere in the world Once again, it can be accessed at: https://www.google.com/googlenotebook/faq.html using your unified Google Accounts login/pass.
  12. Yep - pretty much. Since we have TomCat working, which helps you host JSP - that a clear indication of JDBC Support. Besides, when you create a MySQL DB from the cPanel, it shows you what kind of connector string you should use from a Java Applet/Code to access the DBs.
  13. You forgot to post the download link dude.. You can get it at: http://www.morequick.com/indexen.htm From the looks of it, it seems likes an IE based browser.. Will give it a shot later.
  14. Rumours have been flying around for quite a while about a Google Music service which is to be announced in about 6 months time. I tracked a bunch of articles on this and recent news indicates a very high probability of this happening for real. Here are some exerpts from those articles... Read the sources to find out more. Followup on the previous article: What say you ?
  15. Google Labs seem to be churning out products incessantly.. Recently, a Google employee named Erika Joy leaked out a couple of screenshots of their soon-to-be released product called Google Notebook, due for launch sometime next week at: https://www.google.com/googlenotebook/faq.html It's supposed to be a tool that blows the living daylights out of the likes of del.icio.us. It's going to be a tool for gathering data from all around the web (bookmarks or actual content), nicely categorize them and add related metadata and finally publish it if you want. Looks like it's going to be a crossbreed of del.icio.us and digg.com. The screenshots can be found at: http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ A funny article I found that points out how all Google products tend to be labelled "BETA" - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/
  16. Forget about that project - it's got a bunch of bugs, as in, hardcoded file-path and hence it cannot find the database at the given location. I've to fix those. Anyway, I started a series of tutorials on interaction between VB.NET and MS-Access. Here's the first part I'll whip up the second and third parts tomorrow and day after. Hopefully these will cover everything you might want to know about this topic. If you have any specific requests, post back and I'll try to include that in the tutorials.
  17. VB.NET - MS-Access Interaction Tutorial ????[/tab]I got down to writing this tutorial because of this certain question that Dhanesh posted on our forums here. This tutorial will attempt to show you how to: Create a MS-Access Database Create/Edit/Delete Tables in it Access it and Add/Edit/Update data in those tables all with VB.NET. Note:????This is not a beginner's tutorial and I'll assume you know all the basics of creating WinForm based applications using VS.NET. The screen-shots provided are from VS.NET 2005 - but you shouldn't face any difficult even if you're using VS.NET 2003. The functionality is essentially the same. ????We will start by creating a blank Windows Application project called MS-AccessTest. Creating a MS-Access Database ????Microsoft didn't provide us with any easy modern method of creating an Access Database. No such classes are provided in the .NET Framework and hence we'll have to fall back onto an old library routine that came along with the older genre of Visual Studio. As for accessing a database and modifying data in it, we can conveniently use the OleDB Wrapper. ????For now, right-click on the project name in the Solution Explorer and select Add Reference. This will bring up the Add Reference dialog box. Next select the COM tab and scroll down till you find a library named Microsoft ADO Ext. 2.8 for DLL and Security as shown in the screen-shot. Click OK to add the reference to this dll. The library should show up as ADOX in your References in the Solution Explorer, if you're using VS.NET 2003. Else you can spot it under the References tab under Project Properties in VS.NET 2005. ????Next, we'll create our own class to encapsulate all database related routines. In the Solution Explorer, right-click on the solution name and select Add > Class. Name this class Database. We'll create a function called CreateDatabase( FileName ) that'll take the FileName as a parameter and create a blank database at the given location. Here's the code for the function - it returns True or False depending on the success/failure in creating the database. We use the Create method which can be found under the ADOX.Catalog class to create the database. This method takes the standard OleDB connection string (as shown in oConnect) and creates a blank database with the file name passed to it as Data Source. Public Function CreateDatabase(ByVal FileName As String) As Boolean 'Instantiate the ADOX Object Dim ADOXCatalog As ADOX.Catalog = New ADOX.Catalog Dim oConnect As String 'Setup the connection string oConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & FileName ' Try creating the database Try 'Create the database ADOXCatalog.Create(oConnect) Catch ex As System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Catch ex As Exception 'Show error message and return failure MsgBox(ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.StackTrace) Return False Finally 'Dispose the object ADOXCatalog = Nothing End Try 'Return success Return True End Function linenums:0'>'Method to create a blank database Public Function CreateDatabase(ByVal FileName As String) As Boolean 'Instantiate the ADOX Object Dim ADOXCatalog As ADOX.Catalog = New ADOX.Catalog Dim oConnect As String 'Setup the connection string oConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & FileName ' Try creating the database Try 'Create the database ADOXCatalog.Create(oConnect) Catch ex As System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Catch ex As Exception 'Show error message and return failure MsgBox(ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.StackTrace) Return False Finally 'Dispose the object ADOXCatalog = Nothing End Try 'Return success Return True End Function Create/Edit/Delete Tables ????Our next job is to define some tables in this database. For this we use the standard OleDB Data Provider. You need to have a little prior knowledge of SQL to understand this - although syntactically this is very simple. We start by defining a process called CreateTable(). We'll create a simple table named accessTest for demonstration purposes. This will have just two columns: ID - which is of the Data Type COUNTER, which basically means an Auto Incrementing Integer field Name - A TEXT field of length 50, which will store the name of a person. Moreover, we'll set the ID field as the Primary Key.The code for this function follows: Dim oConn As OleDbConnection Dim oComm As OleDbCommand Dim oConnect, oQuery As String 'Define connection string oConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & FileName & ";User ID=Admin;Password=" 'Define the query string the creates the table oQuery = "CREATE TABLE accessTest ( ID Counter," & "Name TEXT(50) NOT NULL," & "PRIMARY KEY(ID) )" ' Instantiate the connectors oConn = New OleDbConnection(oConnect) oComm = New OleDbCommand(oQuery, oConn) 'Try connecting and crate the table Try 'Open the connection oConn.Open() 'Perform the Non-Query oComm.ExecuteNonQuery() 'Close the connection oConn.Close() Catch ex As OleDb.OleDbException Catch ex As Exception 'Show error message and return failure MsgBox(ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.StackTrace) Return False Finally 'Dispose the connector objects If Not (oConn Is Nothing) Then oConn.Dispose() oConn = Nothing End If If Not (oComm Is Nothing) Then oComm.Dispose() oComm = Nothing End If End Try 'Return success Return True End Function linenums:0'>Public Function CreateTable(ByVal FileName As String) As Boolean 'Define the connectors Dim oConn As OleDbConnection Dim oComm As OleDbCommand Dim oConnect, oQuery As String 'Define connection string oConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & FileName & ";User ID=Admin;Password=" 'Define the query string the creates the table oQuery = "CREATE TABLE accessTest ( ID Counter," & _ "Name TEXT(50) NOT NULL," & _ "PRIMARY KEY(ID) )" ' Instantiate the connectors oConn = New OleDbConnection(oConnect) oComm = New OleDbCommand(oQuery, oConn) 'Try connecting and crate the table Try 'Open the connection oConn.Open() 'Perform the Non-Query oComm.ExecuteNonQuery() 'Close the connection oConn.Close() Catch ex As OleDb.OleDbException Catch ex As Exception 'Show error message and return failure MsgBox(ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.StackTrace) Return False Finally 'Dispose the connector objects If Not (oConn Is Nothing) Then oConn.Dispose() oConn = Nothing End If If Not (oComm Is Nothing) Then oComm.Dispose() oComm = Nothing End If End Try 'Return success Return True End Function [tab]Next we've to define some methods to READ data from this table and return to us as a DataSet - which can be easily bound to a DataGrid to display the data directly on screen. Once again - we define a method called FetchData() to facilitate this. We use the standard connectors that we'd used in the above procedure, but along with that we introduce a new object called a DataAdapter - which is used to read the whole table and place the data into the DataSet. Dim oConn As OleDbConnection Dim oComm As OleDbCommand Dim oData As OleDbDataAdapter Dim resultSet As New DataSet Dim oConnect, oQuery As String 'Define connection string oConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & FileName & ";User ID=Admin;Password=" 'Query String oQuery = "SELECT * FROM accessTest" 'Instantiate the connectors oConn = New OleDbConnection(oConnect) oComm = New OleDbCommand(oQuery, oConn) oData = New OleDbDataAdapter(oQuery, oConn) Try 'Open connection oConn.Open() 'Fill dataset oData.Fill(resultSet, "accessTest") 'Close connection oConn.Close() Catch ex As OleDb.OleDbException Catch ex As Exception 'Show error message and exit MsgBox(ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.StackTrace) Finally 'Dispose the connector objects If Not (oConn Is Nothing) Then oConn.Dispose() oConn = Nothing If Not (oComm Is Nothing) Then oComm.Dispose() oComm = Nothing If Not (oData Is Nothing) Then oData.Dispose() oData = Nothing End Try 'Return results Return resultSet End Function linenums:0'>Public Function FetchData(ByVal FileName As String) As DataSet 'Define the connectors Dim oConn As OleDbConnection Dim oComm As OleDbCommand Dim oData As OleDbDataAdapter Dim resultSet As New DataSet Dim oConnect, oQuery As String 'Define connection string oConnect = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & FileName & ";User ID=Admin;Password=" 'Query String oQuery = "SELECT * FROM accessTest" 'Instantiate the connectors oConn = New OleDbConnection(oConnect) oComm = New OleDbCommand(oQuery, oConn) oData = New OleDbDataAdapter(oQuery, oConn) Try 'Open connection oConn.Open() 'Fill dataset oData.Fill(resultSet, "accessTest") 'Close connection oConn.Close() Catch ex As OleDb.OleDbException Catch ex As Exception 'Show error message and exit MsgBox(ex.Message & vbCrLf & ex.StackTrace) Finally 'Dispose the connector objects If Not (oConn Is Nothing) Then oConn.Dispose() oConn = Nothing If Not (oComm Is Nothing) Then oComm.Dispose() oComm = Nothing If Not (oData Is Nothing) Then oData.Dispose() oData = Nothing End Try 'Return results Return resultSet End Function So far we've created some basic routines to create database/table and fetch data. Now it's time to concentrate on the main interface and come up with a way to display the fetched data on the screen. For this we'll utilize a DataGrid control, as it can be easily bound to the fetched data. On the main form, drop a DataGrid. Also add a DataSet to the main form. We're going to link these two controls and whenever we update the dataset with any data from the database, the datagrid will reflect the changes on screen. Likewise, when data is modified on screen, the changes get reflected in the actual database. Continued in Part II ...
  18. Yep - I don't think you can setup a proxy on a website. What will serve you best is to have a shell account which permits you to run background processes/daemons. There you can easily run the Squid Proxy - which is freely downloadable. On second thoughts - I do remember seeing some PHP based proxy quite sometime back, and I did a quick search and came up with these results. There are two such proxies in existence which can be run on any PHP-enabled web-server. phProxy - http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ PHP Web Proxy - https://sourceforge.net/projects/php-proxy/ Let me know if they work out for you..
  19. Tomorrow man - i have the whole thing for u ready.. but my mind's too fuzzy for alcohol tonight later sometime tomorrow you'll have it all.. or simply check the Code Librarian software I was working on at Antilost.. As far as I'd done, it had the code to access MS-Access DB and Add/Edit/Delete stuff from it. Check under the Ongoing Projects section at Antilost.
  20. SLAP SLAP SLAP @ ganesh Yeah rude - but sometimes very necessary. It arises out of a fact named frustration. We're pretty open minded about n00bs joining our board - you'll hardly notice any flames on any given thread.. We simply don't allow that to happen. But then again when your n00bishness steps beyond all human boundaries, you DO have to put your foot down and take a firm step.
  21. I tried accessing your cPanel just now - without any hiccup.. http://forums.xisto.com/no_longer_exists/ Let me know if you're still facing the problem. It might have been a temporary issue.
  22. Heyyyyyyy.. wait a sec !! You're what, 15 ?? And you say PORNO IS SICK !! Dude, you're not normal Go see a shrink
  23. This reminds me - does anyone use the SiteAdvisor extension for Firefox? I've been using it for a while - it's a real cool tool. It sits in the firefox status bar and turns the following colors depending on site content: RED - Potentially harmful site with Malware and/or SPAM originator. GREEN - Site fine from every aspect. GREY - Neutral (Not Tested) Sites. Clicking on the icon brings up a small menu, which looks like this: Clicking on the View Site Details option, takes you to the SiteAdvisor site, where they display a detailed analysis of your site including: Overall test results & some minor statistics like when the site was founded, location, popularity etc. Emails sent out by site every month Download Tests Online affiliations - i.e. the sites this particular site links to - and if any of those sites are harmful in any way Annoyances User Reviews The screen looks like this: Moreover, even when you do a search (I've tested only in Google) - SiteAdvisor shows the site ratings beside every search result - which is quite related to the topic of the discussion here. Let the search engines return hits to all possible sites, and use SiteAdvisor or some similar policing tool to figure out which site you should visit, and which you shouldn't. If you hover your mouse on the site rating icon, a small window pops up showing you the site characteristics in brief. It looks like this: All in all I find this an invaluable tool and have really grown to like it over the past few months that I've been using it. I think this is a MUST HAVE for everyone.. however street-wise (or net-wise, if you will) we might consider ourself The extension can be grabbed directly from their site at: http://www.siteadvisor.com/final/index.html They've even got a similar plugin for IE - simply visit SiteAdvisor.Com and click on Download and you'll be automatically directed to the download page appropriate for your browser.
  24. Google for the software Hide IP Platinum. That sits in your system tray and everytime you click, it makes your browser use a free anonymous proxy from a large list of active proxies, that the site maintains.
